Nubian Island Hotel
Ranked #39 of 231 Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh
Reviewed 6 October 2013

5th time here in three years and looking forward to returning next year. Due to the recent troubles in Egypt the hotel was much quieter than previous visits and was partially staffed from the team from the sister Nubian Village. This in no way lowered the standard of service or quality of experience.
This time we stayed in a room in the main block next to the quiet "English" pool. If you like quieter surroundings then request a room here. Otherwise the bungalows are lovely, set in in beautifully tended gardens between the main hotel and the beach & lively pool. Rooms are always spotless and any issues dealt with very quickly. A flat TV, fridge, great AC and large shower are standard. If you need a morning cuppa then just ask Wassim in reception and he will have you provided with a kettle etc.
Due to the quality of the animation team we spent more time than usual at the lively pool. Special mention to Zino and Kate who were really friendly and enhanced every visitor's stay.
As usual the food was great with loads of choice. The Italian restaurant run by Mohammed is well worth a visit (but don't let it keep you from the fresh pasta in the main restaurant as the chef is a genius). As long as you like good, fresh varied cuisine then you will probably put on weight!
The staff are a real asset to the hotel. We got to meet many from the sister Nubian Village who were as friendly as those we know in the Island. Hany in the pool bar was a true pro but he is back in the Nubian Village now. He should be the standard to which all bar staff strive to attain.
As usual I was snorkeling off the pier, which with reduced visitor numbers was more relaxing than on previous visits. Still an abundance of amazing sea-life to be seen "on your doorstep".
If I must put a negative it would be the pricing of a late check out which some may feel is a little expensive. An email to the hotel will give you details if you need to consider it before you book.

What more can I say? We love this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a laid back break in lovely surroundings with great people. There are lots more details in my previous reviews.

Room Tip: 456-460 on gnd floor next to quiet pool with all day sun. Bungalows have gardens and are closer to...

We had a two week family holiday at the Nubian Island Hotel in August. The party was made up of mother, father, married daughters/sons in law & grandchildren (8 in total).
Considering the age variation we had the time of our lives. All the staff at this hotel are so polite and helpful. The animation team gave the whole family so much fun and i am sure they took 10 years off my age (69). We all look forward to returning.

Room Tip: As a family we had 2 x double rooms and 1 bungalow ( parents with 2 children ages 16 & 14) All...

My Husband and I returned from Sharm-el-sheike on Tuesday, after sadly, one week only. May I say it was an absolute fantastic holiday !! We did originally book next door (village), but upon being met by the rep in the airport, we were handed an envelope to pass on their apologies, and that we have to move hotels due to low occupancy. We were however being upgraded to a 5* ! Immediate reaction - Scored !! We could still use the water slides etc next door. After a pleasant transfer to the hotel (around 15 minutes or so), arrived at the hotel to (WOW !). To the check-in, to the check-out, may I say the overall experience was fantastic. The porters were sure to take our luggage to the room promptly, and we were told to go and have our dinner as the restaurant was closing in a short while.
This was only booked as a relaxing holiday, but were a little disappointed that we couldnt venture too far with the problems etc, but to be honest, we didnt mind at all, as we had already made up our mind that we would be returning to Sharm, and this hotel in the future !
One thing we did notice is that the beds are uncomfortable, a few people we got talking to mentioned this to us also. Some guests I believe, told reception, and they were given a mattress topper. It didnt bother us that much, buy they were available if needs be. There was a client relations manager available all day, if anyone had any problems what-so-ever. Our room safe broke, and from the phone call to the fixing of it, took under 30 minutes. May I say, the three members of staff that did stand out to us for being so happy, friendly and nothing was a bother to them were MAGET (bar), SHEREEN (animation) & the lovely, lovely guy who cleaned our room (Room 470)
Overall rating : food - fantastic, drink - spot-on, service - brilliant, hotel - clean & friendly, beach - lush. My husband is a keen tropical fish enthusiast - he was in his element with the snorkelling.
We loved the quaint and quiet pathways and wooden bridges to the beach, passing the bungalows.
I can not imagine anyone not to like this hotel.

Room Tip: Book a bungalow, they are much quieter (apparently), but we had no problems

Just returned (24th September) from two weeks holiday at the Nubian Island what can we say the service was excellent from the time we booked in till the time we booked out, our flight was delayed so we did not arrive until just after 10pm, the hotel kept the restaurant open so that we could eat when we arrived, The rooms were clean and tidy and extra pillows and thicker mattresses were supplied when we asked for them, the service at the bars were second to none all drinks and snacks were supplied with a smile and a joke, the cooks and waiters could not do enough to make you happy, food was good and varied, we ate at the alacart sea food restaurant which was excellent value for money 5 large courses and wine for under £25 per head I must thank the management at the hotel for having such happy and helpful staff, the animation team were very good and not in your face all the time. Due to the problems in Cairo and Alexandra there was hardly any Russians,Italians or other countries people at the hotel in fact the Russians had been shipped out two weeks earlier half way through their holiday (I hope the Egyptian authority and holiday companies appreciate that with all the troubles going on us Brits kept on coming, keeping their tourism industry stable even though they had to close some hotels due to lack of visitors) The house reef was excellent for snorkeling although the current could be a little strong. Slightly on the downside are. The hotel is beginning to look a little tired and some cosmetic work needs to be done to bring it up to scratch. Flies can be a problem as they become a nuisance when siting on the beach or round the pools. With a late booking out the room was needed to be kept for which there was a £25 charge which I felt was a bit excessive as we only had the room for about two hours on the day we arrived. This is our tenth visit to Egypt staying in various locations and hotels, and with a little bit of TLC this hotel could be as good as the others we stayed in

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel by the top pool are quieter and make easy access to the resteraunt a...

Sadly returned home after a wonderful 7 night stay at the Nubian Island Resort. Never before have we received such excellent service and special thanks to Magit (Lobby Bar)and Hanni,(Pool Bar) who were outstanding!!
Special thanks to the lovely Animation Team, who's tireless energy was amazing - Pipo, Anna, Simone, Zeto, Antony, Tony, Becky and MIZO (don't go changing, you are one crazy and loveable guy).
The hotel is set in lovely grounds, which are constantly being attended to and maintained beautifully.
Food and drinks plentiful, of a good quality - please try the Italian, which is excellent.
Snorkelling is amazing, something that I had not tried before a little daunting swimming off the jetty as you need to be prepared for a 60ft sheer drop! Shame the sea was a bit rough on the majority of our trip but still worth the experience.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and the staff who all work so hard in it to ensure you have a great time - despite some of the guests being hard to please and liking the sound of their own voice.
Hope to see you all again soon

Room Tip: Try to book a bungalow, we stayed in Presidential suite, which was sheer luxury.
