“One of the Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

Having just returned from a relaxing two week stay at the Baron Resort. Thanks to the management and their very hard working staff for making it a most enjoyable stay. All areas are exceptionally clean, gardens are tended every minute of the day. The restaurants especially the al a cartes serve very good food. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Finally a big thank you to Mohamed in the pool bar, Kiro who made sure we never went without a drink and Rabbis who always welcomed us with a smile. You guys have ensured we will return to the Baron Resort.

Room Tip: Sea view a must.

Myself me my partner stayed at Baron resort between 3rd July to 17th. Upon arrival to the airport when going through to the customs/visas be aware that they will ask you if you want to pay an additional fee of around 15 dollars for a visa if you intend on travelling outside sharm el sheikh. We were advised in the plane not to do this and seen so many others but we were fine without it as you can't normally arrange it for a trip.

The hotel is beautiful, the rooms were very spacious and modern however the bathroom could be doing with a slight update, although still very functional and spacious.

In terms of food the restaurants are very good. They are all nicely decorated with very good menus to choose from and good service. In particular the Indian, which we went to a few times. A very good thing about this hotel is that there is no restrictions on how often you can go to a restaurant as a lot of all inclusive restrict al Le carte to 2/3 times a week. However we were not particularly keen on the buffet. A big issue that we found with the holiday overall is restrictions in times you can eat. Breakfast finishes around 10.30 and lunch begins at 12:00 - 3:00 then dinner does not start until 7 o clock. If you are in the hotel grounds this is not a problem but when you return from an excursion at 4 and have to wait another 3 hours we found this very annoying. With other all inclusive we felt as though we had access to food 24/7 and did not need to time in advance when we were going to eat.

The drinks here are good, all spirits seemed to be branded and have a good range of cocktails. One waiter who really stands out in terms of his service is Kirolles. He is constantly at hand to see if he can get you another drink or if there is anything you can do and will be working as hard as he can all day.

The pools here are gorgeous. The large pool is still very relaxing and quiet, with comfortable loungers and the pool is a good temperature. The other sea water pool was my favourite, although some might find it abit too quiet. The water is a lot cooler but much more refreshing from the high temperatures.

The dive centre, Scorpion are brilliant. We done a total of 10 dives with them between us in our 14 days and the professionalism and knowledge is really reassuring if you have, like ourselves, never dived before. The jetty of the beach in the hotel is incredible as there is so many beautiful fish and the sea is very clear with visible upto 30m.

Guest relations in the hotel really do all they can do help you. On several occasions were able to move our bookings around for restaurants, enquire on whereabouts of laundry (which is fantastic!) and things like taxi outside the resort. They are very approachable and friendly.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay it was beautiful and we hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: Most people would advise to upgrade to a sea view room, which does look beautiful. We did not but di...

Got home at 3am this morning after spending two fabulous weeks at this hotel. Once again the staff where amazing looking after your every need. Kiro kept us well watered at the sea water pool, he really works hard. Ahmed, Big Mohammed, Little Mohammed, Armie and Mari all keep the drinks flowing and the banter flowing at the Piano Bar, they are wonderful.
Mr Ahmed and his team of assistant managers are always around to greet you and sort out any issues you may have.
We had a sea view room with two big beds, it was lovely and clean, towels and bedding
changed daily, large fruit platter and cookies on arrival, fridge restocked daily with beer, soft drinks and water.
The food in the restaurants are of a high quality, always some thing for you to eat. I had my birthday meal at the grill bar, staff made sure I had an enjoyable time, followed by a lovely cake with a card signed by management and them singing Happy Birthday.
A good selection of premier drinks available on the all inclusive eg Absolute Vodka, beefeater Gin, however I do think they need a slightly wider range.
All in all this is a fabulous hotel, our second visit and certainly not our last, we are already looking to book our next holiday there.
Thank you all for a wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are wonderful.

My friend and I decided to revisit the Baron Resort some 8 months after our first visit. Although we had previously experienced a number of irritations, including the invasion of 300(ish) Russians on a convention (see previous review), we concluded that we had just been unlucky so thought we’d give it another go.

Fortunately, or unfortunately depending upon your viewpoint, Sharm generally is still very quiet due to the travel restrictions and other than the hardy Brits, there are a few Russian tourists and we also encountered a few Italians this time too. The hotel must be at less than half capacity and one wonders sadly how long the whole resort can economically continue.

We noticed quite a number of staff changes since our visit last October, but the staff who were there last time were welcoming and seemed delighted to see us and we felt looked after us very well - particular mention to Mohammad who gave us a fab drinks service whilst we laid on the beach, Adel (from the beach bar) and one of the waiters in the main restaurant – sorry, can’t remember his name.

We had specifically requested a ground floor room. The diamond wing seemed to be closed and the rooms in the main building are mostly accessed going through the reception area or up flights of stairs. Purely out of laziness, we thought that if we'd forgotten anything whilst at the beach, pool or restaurants, our ground floor room was superbly positioned. We did encounter some rowdiness at 4 am our first night as we were located close to the main walkway but that was all.

We once again availed ourselves of the complementary services: airport transfers (seamless), massage (excellent - although short changed a bit on the timings), and the laundry service - came home with a clean case of clothes.

The Baron Resort may not be the plushest, let's face it the sign looks like 'Las Vegas', and the website is pretty naff (it would improve the luxury perception of your resort if you redesigned it), but the staff (and management team) really can't do enough, the weather is amazing, and I'm sure we'll return.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms have easier access to the beach, pool and restaurants. However, the best views w...

This was our first visit to the Baron Resort Sharm El Sheikh and will certainly not be our last. We had some issues but these did not affect our overall 14 night stay. The food in all of the restaurants was exceptional and the service second to none.
We seamed to have our very own pool side waiter by the name of Kirolles who was brilliant and gave us exceptional service. By the time we put our towels down the drinks were with us. Kirolles was so friendly and gave us a lot of information on the hotel 5*** to him
The beach was beautiful but could have been cleaner we were amazed how close the tropical fish came to the waters edge, I have never been able to walk up to a coral reef the access was excellent 5*
We used our free vouchers for the Spa and paid for extras, highly recommend – value for money!
Due to the British Foreign Office advice it restricted us from visiting the St Catherine's Monastery which we wanted to see. This was a great shame as the country has so much to see and offer, but fully understandable.
Our room had 2 double beds with a sea view which was extremely comfortable. The housekeeping staff cleaned our room to the highest standard with fresh bed linen etc every day and our fridge was fully stocked each day and if we wanted something different it was not an issue 5***
We highly recommend the laundry service, we have used this before in other hotels but have always had problems until the Baron Resort 5**
To summarise, if you are looking for a great location, fantastic beach, 5*+ service, excellent accommodation, excellent food and facilities with total relaxation then the Baron Resort is for you. The high percentage of returning guests is the highest recommendation required, we will certainly be returning

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are great

We booked into Baron via our Trip Advisor rep as the original hotel we had booked we found unsuited for us. Having visited the hotel the day before for a showcase we knew what to expect in terms of quality, and we weren't disappointed in the least.

The only downside for us was the two hour wait time from arrival to check-in (which was largely due to the fact that booking had been made outside of sales office hours and hadn't gone through - fully understandable, but I felt like the front desk staff could've acted quicker on this) and the fact that we were originally presented with a twin room when it could be gathered without too much effort that we were a couple.

The double room we were given afterwards was fantastic. Clean, close to the main restaurant, modern etc. We were presented with a fresh tray of fruits and cookies on arrival which is a nice added touch, and exemplary of the service received here overall. Air conditioning was a bliss, and we often felt cold enough to put a jumper on in the room - which is perfect given how it's usually 40c outside, having a breeze of cold air is important.

The main buffet restaurant was fantastic, serving a variety of foods for lunch, staples and more for breakfast and a range of set cuisine based foods (e.g. Mexican, Italian, Egyptian, seafood, BBQ, etc) for dinner which rotates throughout the week. The staff here are only more than happy to seat you and provide you with drinks or anything else you need. There's also an a la carte lunch available by the pool bar which is great if you want to stay close to the pool/beach or don't want to surf for food.

As for the a la cartes, we only tried three of the five (seafood, Indian and BBQ) however they were all great.

Drinks are good, like most all inclusives of this calibre, there's a wide variety of alcohol available however imports are not included - bur this isn't particularly significant unless you want a particular brand or vintage as Egypt produces it's own wines, beers and most common spirits.

There's an oriental cafè on the "Baron Boulevard" which is great, and extends the all inclusive element of the drinks at the hotel even though it operates separately to a degree, with the only thing you have to pay for being shisha which at 25LE (£2.20) is a lot cheaper than you would pay in the UK for a smoke. They stock a variety of flavours (apple, mint, cherry, melon, etc), just ask.

The only slight negative to the location of the oriental cafè means it's a bit out of the way from the main hotel and as a result shopkeepers on the run up to it will accost you to buy their goods, but if you don't stop to look they don't hassle much at all.

If you're looking for a lively vibe, the hotel can be a bit quiet in the evening, however a short trip to SOHO square via the shuttle bus or a booking with the hotel concierge for a taxi (was a brand new Mercedes Benz E250) will take around 10 minutes.

For common needs e.g. cigarettes there's a shop near the lobby, as well as an ATM just around the corner which is great for conveniently withdrawing money (also note, banks will charge more than withdrawal fees for card payments of the same amount so using an ATM to get money out as oppose to simply a card transaction on a payment device will save you a fair bit).

The beach is nice and sandy, and not at all packed so you won't have to look far to grab a decent lounger (same goes for the pool). The immediate seabed is quite full of coral and very shallow until it hits a deep drop can doesn't make it the best place to have a dip, however the jetty end boasts a whole load of marine life, so if you're interested in snorkelling or diving without needing a large excursion this is a great.

Finally, the premium all inclusive offered by the hotel also comes with a range of vouchers which can be used during your stay, most on a per week basis. There are vouchers for a free 25 mins massage, haircut, tennis court use, diving lesson, water sport, laundry (which was fantastic and a godsend) and a few others which add to the niceties.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a high quality of accommodation and service, and is looking for a relaxing holiday - it's worth the price. If you're looking for something very lively, this probably isn't your best bet.

Room Tip: If you can, grab a sea view, the view of Tiran Island is to die for.

My husband and I went to The Baron Resort some 5 weeks ago for a fortnight. To be honest although we thoroughly enjoyed our stay it was not as good as we had expected. The food was, on the whole, no more than average/ok and at least 2 of the a la cartes were so dark you needed a torch to read the menu and see what you were eating. I am all for low lighting but this was too extreme by far, particularly the Italian.

The pool area was lovely and the staff there excellent, they could not do enough for you, and there were plenty of sunbeds available.

The rooms were more than adequate although the bathroom was rather small and dated (we had a sea view room). Beware of rooms with adjoining doors however. We were unlucky enought to have one of these and for 5 days we had the 'family from hell' next door to us and the yelling and screaming was unbearable. We were going to ask to be moved when luckily they left. We can only assume that they were on a short break there, thankfully. The laundry service was wonderful.

It was however rather too quiet in the evening, which was something that quite a few guests said. As the hotel was very under-occupied this may have accounted for it somewhat.

The biggest downside was on our departure, which spoilt the holiday for us big time. For all inclusive guests the 'all inclusive' part of your holiday ends at 5 pm. Immediately after 5 pm we were expected to pay for everything, even soft drinks. If we wanted to be picky, as we did not arrive at the hotel until 9.45 pm and were not due to depart until 7 pm we had not in fact had an entire 2 week all inclusive deal. We have never in all our travels to all inclusive holidays experienced this before and feel this is pretty bad.

Finally, and by far the worst, was our problem with the ATM and how the reception staff dealt with it (or rather did not). The day before we were due to leave we went to the ATM and put in £20 to exchange for Egyptian currency. The machine swallowed our note and closed down without giving us anything. We went to reception and were told they would call out an engineer and to come back at 5.30 pm. We went back at 5.30 pm and were told no engineer had come yet and to come back the next morning. This we did. Still no engineer. We told them we were due to leave at 7 pm that evening so it needed to be sorted out. We were told come back at mid-day, which we did. Still, apparently, no engineer. We repeated that we were leaving that day so it was essential it was sorted out. At 5 pm we checked out, having extended our room for a few extra hours. When we went to settle our account we asked about the ATM money and were told nothing had happened. We told them that we were leaving shortly and they showed no interest whatsoever. We then said that we would not pay the full amount of the additional cost for the room, we would deduct the £20 off of it. The receptionist was rather short at that point and immediately said that we still owed them as the room cost 30 euros. We said we were aware of that and would pay the difference. The receptionist then tried to charge us too much, which we pointed out. He then agreed that it was an additional £5.30. We have him £5 and were about to give him 30p when he refused the coins and said that was enough. We went and sat down. A few minutes later a member of staff came over and said we were wanted immediately at the front desk. On presenting ourselves there we were abruptly told that we owed an additional 50p! We got 50p out and were told no, they wanted a note and would give us change in Egyptian coins as a 50p coin was no good to them. We pointed out that Egyptian coins would be no good to us either. Stalemate! In the end we found we had a few Egyptian pounds left on us and settled with them, leaving them with more than 50p! We could not believe how badly we were treated over this amount and how rude the staff were. To cap it all a couple we had become friendly with had settled their bill and declined to take their change so overall reception were better off even with our 50p shortfall than they should have been. We would not expect a hotel of this calibre to treat its guests like that and it certainly spoilt the end of our holiday.

Would we stay there again? Unfortunately this is a definite "no" which is sad as most of the staff are absolutely great and cannot do enough for you, but it just does not deliver what we expected.
