First things first, me and my partner got a great deal when booking to stay at the resort (Harem side) for 2 weeks. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we were both really excited and for the price it seemed too good to be true… It was.
It’s not a terrible hotel but based on a previous visit to Egypt (see other review) it’s nowhere near as good as what we experienced previously.
A couple of points:
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see an empty reception and after a delayed transfer the prospect of a quick check in was great! However.. We seemed to waiting for circa 40 minutes while they checked us in.. God knows how long it would have taken if there was any form of queue. They kept telling us 2 minutes which I found extremely frustrating.. We got to our room quite late, unpacked and went to bed.. We then received a call at what must have been 03.00 to tell us they have prepared a dinner box? Obviously we declined as we were sleeping.
The restaurant is ok but not if you’re staying for 2 weeks. You can pay to eat in the other restaurants but feedback from other guests deterred us from doing so. We are not fussy eaters, both very healthy and can’t stand the chips and burgers perception brits create, however the choice was limited, luke warm at times. The fresh bread was really nice, white and wholemeal and so was the pasta section but the “grilled fish” was slimy and the cuts of meat were fatty and over cooked.
I would also add that both my partner and another couple suffered from sickness and diarrhoea which dragged on throughout the holiday, but as we ventured out of the the resort on a number of occasions it could have been picked up elsewhere, who knows..
The resort is massive and I can imagine anyone who doesn’t like walking would become frustrated with the prospect of waiting to use a taff taff (however it apparently comes every 10 minutes so not terrible).. We walked to the beach most days (in between diving outside of the resort) as the pool area felt bland and boring (you’ll see what I mean if you go).. There’s a lot of wasted space around the pool area and the time we decided to sit by the pool there were no sunbeds available, so back to the beach (5/ 10 minute walk). The also play the same dated music time and time again as everytime we passed you could hear it!
The drinks were absolutely terrible and to be honest we regret going all inclusive due to the food not being good either. It’s all local spirits and the wine is shocking.. The red tasted sweet and fizzy.. The Russians didn’t complain though and you’d regularly see them stumbling around mid-day.
This resort is full of Russians which the staff seem to pay a lot more attention too.. The Russians at this resort were loud, rude and ignorant and to be honest with you I got sick of it by week 2.
My partner asked for a mojito and they added mint liquor and orange juice? However one member of staff at the pool bar made mojitos with fresh mint but he disappeared so the only half decent drink was no longer available..
The beach was lovely and the jetty with two pools was a nice additional and a great place to catch some rays. The snorkelling is really good and we even encountered a turtle close to the jetty.
The room was nice and clean but we didn't go away to sit in our room.
To summarise, this is not a 5 star hotel and it doesn’t deserve all of the shining reviews.. It's average at best.
