Domina Hotel & Resort Harem
Ranked #32 of 231 Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh
Reviewed 18 June 2014

First things first, me and my partner got a great deal when booking to stay at the resort (Harem side) for 2 weeks. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we were both really excited and for the price it seemed too good to be true… It was.

It’s not a terrible hotel but based on a previous visit to Egypt (see other review) it’s nowhere near as good as what we experienced previously.

A couple of points:
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to see an empty reception and after a delayed transfer the prospect of a quick check in was great! However.. We seemed to waiting for circa 40 minutes while they checked us in.. God knows how long it would have taken if there was any form of queue. They kept telling us 2 minutes which I found extremely frustrating.. We got to our room quite late, unpacked and went to bed.. We then received a call at what must have been 03.00 to tell us they have prepared a dinner box? Obviously we declined as we were sleeping.

The restaurant is ok but not if you’re staying for 2 weeks. You can pay to eat in the other restaurants but feedback from other guests deterred us from doing so. We are not fussy eaters, both very healthy and can’t stand the chips and burgers perception brits create, however the choice was limited, luke warm at times. The fresh bread was really nice, white and wholemeal and so was the pasta section but the “grilled fish” was slimy and the cuts of meat were fatty and over cooked.
I would also add that both my partner and another couple suffered from sickness and diarrhoea which dragged on throughout the holiday, but as we ventured out of the the resort on a number of occasions it could have been picked up elsewhere, who knows..

The resort is massive and I can imagine anyone who doesn’t like walking would become frustrated with the prospect of waiting to use a taff taff (however it apparently comes every 10 minutes so not terrible).. We walked to the beach most days (in between diving outside of the resort) as the pool area felt bland and boring (you’ll see what I mean if you go).. There’s a lot of wasted space around the pool area and the time we decided to sit by the pool there were no sunbeds available, so back to the beach (5/ 10 minute walk). The also play the same dated music time and time again as everytime we passed you could hear it!

The drinks were absolutely terrible and to be honest we regret going all inclusive due to the food not being good either. It’s all local spirits and the wine is shocking.. The red tasted sweet and fizzy.. The Russians didn’t complain though and you’d regularly see them stumbling around mid-day.
This resort is full of Russians which the staff seem to pay a lot more attention too.. The Russians at this resort were loud, rude and ignorant and to be honest with you I got sick of it by week 2.
My partner asked for a mojito and they added mint liquor and orange juice? However one member of staff at the pool bar made mojitos with fresh mint but he disappeared so the only half decent drink was no longer available..

The beach was lovely and the jetty with two pools was a nice additional and a great place to catch some rays. The snorkelling is really good and we even encountered a turtle close to the jetty.

The room was nice and clean but we didn't go away to sit in our room.

To summarise, this is not a 5 star hotel and it doesn’t deserve all of the shining reviews.. It's average at best.

The Hotel, Resturant, Bars, pool etc all good. Friendly staff made it great. The Resturant staff were so welcoming & nothing was too much trouble whatever you wanted they would ask chef & he would make it for you. If he couldnt he would make sure he could the next day. The pool/lifeguard man was fab & made sure there was towels laid out every morning for us ( 7 women) The reception staff a bit of an issue our room 60008 flooded our last night by the 'plant sprinkler' which was on overnight & all the water seeped under patio doors!! We woke to an inch of water throughout the room. Thankfully none of our personal stuff was on the floor. Went to reception took 30 mins for someone to come, they assumed we had left a tap on in the bathroom !! The curtains & bedding soaked a lot of water up & if we wanted to move out they would charge us as it was our last day anyway & had to vacate by midday. If you are in room 60008 by the pool be aware !! No apology from reception staff. Went to sister Hotel Coral Bay & waited to see the customer service Manager -Hady. He was great big apology & allowed us a room till 4pm free of charge till we were picked up for airport. Thankyou Hady !!!

The only rude & unhelpful person was Waehl the Pegasus Rep, who arranged a meeting to tell you all you needed to know. Lack of communication & unhelpfulness on his part made a few stressful moments. ie the transfers to airport on way home etc. If you didn't book an excursion he didn't want to know. !!

Over all good holiday apart from all having 'Egyptian tummy' but think more due to pool not clean enough or ice maybe, change of diet. Reception staff needs improving. Everyone else 1st class.

Room Tip: Don't go into 60008 I doubt whether curtains & bed changed after the flood !!

We had a great time at Domina Harem hotel. The staff's customer service was exceptional.
I do not eat meat & the head chef in Spices Restaurant went over & beyond by cooking separate meals for me. The staff are very friendly. Makes you feel like you're family.
We will definitely come again & recommend to all.

This was the first time me and my boyfriend have done an all inclusive holiday and we were in 2 minds about it to be honest but thought we would give it a go. And we were pleasantly surprised. The resort has plenty to offer for most types of parties. We went for a relaxing holiday and that is exactly what we got. The room was lovely and spacious with a sea view and was cleaned to a high standard every day.
We enjoyed relaxing by the pool, at the beach and then at night we would usually go to the Bahia bar which offers drinks and Shisha.
To be honest we are not the party goers any more so I couldn't really comment on that side of things.
The staff were always extremely friendly and helpful especially if you show them a few manners as I don't think many of the Russians do so they really appreciate it ;)
We took advantage of the spa there and I have to say the prices were really reasonable, we got a massage each and full use of the spa which was such a nice place.
I was a bit wary before we went about the comments some people made about the Russians but to be honest if you keep yourselves to yourselves then they seem to do the same.
Although we had a fantastic time there were a few things that could have been improved on. Firstly was the food - it definitely caters more for the Russians and there isn't much variety on offer and you are limited to one restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner which can become a little repetitive. Also, there weren't really any snacks on offer i.e. pizza/Panini's/toasties which I love when I go away as a light snack.
It would have been much better if you could use more than one restaurant under the all inclusive. Both myself and my boyfriend were very ill for 2days and whether this was down to the food I am not sure but plenty of people did say the same.
Also, on our final day our flight wasn't until the evening and we had to check out of the room by 12 noon and the hotel do not have any showering/changing facilities which I found a little strange as most hotels always offer this for people in this situation. The staff were kind enough to let us use a spare room but when we got there it was dirty and full of dirty towels which wasn't very inviting.
However, all in all we had such a fantastic time, the weather was amazing, the beach was beautiful with the most amazing fish I have ever seen. There is always plenty to do as it is such a big resort - you have access to at least 3 different pools and the beach goes on for miles. There was also plenty of all inclusive bars dotted around so you are never far from a drink. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly just be careful of the shop owners as they really do push for the sale. But after some haggling you usually get much better price ;)
All in all a fantastic holiday with only very slight improvements which could be made but I would definitely go back :-)

First time in Egypt and the Harem was a great choice. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. We requested a twin room but were given a kingsize...as soon as we raised this it was sorted immediately. Really can't fault the service...would definitely go back!
if you haven't been to Egypt before don't forget the insect repellent...

Lovely hotel, good food and service.
Take this option instead of the Aquamarine or Coral option at Domina as much better !
Prepare yourself for the number of Russians across Sharm!
Beautiful scenery from Harem pretty much guaranteed a sea view and what a view it is!

Overall, a Harem was very good hotel (part of a multi hotel complex). People we spoke to staying at other hotels on the same complex said that Harem was better from a service, quality and overall package point of view.
Staff at Harem couldn't do enough for you, were welcoming as you met, went over and above to make your stay as enjoyable as possible...So many people took an interest in looking after you.
The pool & whirlpools - good size and plenty of sun beds & towels. Lifeguard on duty, got involved with some of the ball games.
Poolside bar looked after Ahmed Ali who was always friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Spices restaurant - food was generally varied daily, was good quality with an impressive range of tastes catered for. Staff here were excellent, even down to the really small things.
Room - nicely layed out and well equiped on arrival. Overall cleanliness was good although we did take some anti-bacterial wash/wipes and gave certain surfaces a once over on arrival (through personal choice).
Again, housekeeping was well managed with attention to service though there were some small maintenance things that could have benifited from being addressed (feedback left for hotel to address).
Facilities on Domina Coral Bay resort were very good - we had the all inclusive package but there were plenty of options either way.
Overall rating of Domina Harem is very good.
