Despite the long list of complaints I am about to list I want to make it clear that the holiday was still pleasant, and that for certain people who perhaps aren't as fussy as we are this hotel could be a great place for a holiday.

Positives first - the food (choice, quantity and quality) was wonderful, pretty much faultless. Yes most of us did end up with upset stomachs but I can't say for certain it was the food (too much sun and swallowing sea water while snorkeling could have done it - the two in our company who didn't get ill were the only ones to no go snorkeling).
Secondly, the staff were mostly very kind - they do like the Brits because we are much more polite and quieter than the Italians!
Finally the cleanliness around the hotel and inside the rooms should be mentioned, the staff kept the place spotless.

Now for the negatives- we didn't have the best welcome to Egypt. Our flight was delayed just short of 2 hours (spent inside the plane).
Then came the visa confusion. In short, Thomas Cook try to sell you them and make out that's it's almost essential to have (this is only the case if you leave Sharm-El-Sheikh), so we joined a long queue, expected to pay $15 as advertised, then find Thomas Cook add an extra $3 for buying it at their desk at the airport. Either don't buy it or buy it before leaving home.
You are told not to tip the luggage handlers as they have been paid, so we didn't. The man got very aggressive, then we found out he wasn't even employed by Thomas Cook - he'd just come off the streets!
The hotel staff were very accomodating when we finally arrived, they extended dinner time by 2 hours so we could eat that evening. However, one of our rooms was in a far away block to the other two, despite booking them all at the same time. We were eventually moved closer after about two days of frequent complaining.
The first morning started well - a nice breakfast, then we sat out by the big pool. Just before 11:00am some gentle music started, which wasn't ideal but it soon turned into deafening club music. We complained and were basically told that the Italian version of an 18-30s club - the "Sette Mari Club" - practically owned the pool and that they were just having fun, and no, they weren't going to turn the music down.
We were segregated to the 'Relax Pool', which we wouldnt have minded but for three things. We could still hear the thudding of the music over at the other pool, alcohol couldn't be served or drunk at the 'Relax Pool' (we aren't big drinkers, but it is nice to relax with the occasional drink- especially when this is suppossed to be 'all inclusive'), and a new CD would be played each day but it would be played repeatedly so each track was heard about a dozen times each day.
The Italians were to be a constant source of annoyance during our stay - they were noisy at mealtimes (the restaurant is located at the so-called 'Relax Pool'), were unbelievably rude to both staff and holidaymakers of other nationalities, and every dinner time the Sette Mari Club staff would stand on the steps of the restaurant blocking your way when carrying your food, and with a patheticly forced smile would wish you "Bon Appetito" several times. The most shocking incident we heard about, was that on numerous occasions Italian couples had been clearly seen having - shall we say, a very intimate time (you know what I mean) - in the pool in broad daylight, in front of young children.
Regarding the location, we visited the beach at Shores Aloha and snorkelled there, which was lovely. A much welcome breeze would always blow, and the environment there was much nicer that at Shores Golden. One day we went for a glass-bottom boat trip at Naama Bay. We booked with a nearby tour operator (Thomas Cook charge extra), and the gentleman who accompanied us for the day was brilliant. Be warned though, the beaches are largely owned by hotels, and if you go down to another beach you will have to pay about 10 Egyptian Pound (~£1.20) per person, to use it.
Most evenings we went to local market places. Although it is nice to see the culture, the constant hastling by shopowners to buy the same old tat wears very thin. If you do try to buy something and haggle, they can turn very aggressive, particularly to women, who they make very sexist comments to. Every other car is a taxi and will hoot you several times if they see you are walking to anywhere. If you do get into a taxi, decide the price first and settle on it, most are so desperate they will drop the initial price by 5-15 Egyptian Pounds. Also be observant of the local surroundings, many taxi drivers aren't professional and don't know where Shores Golden is and you have to direct them.
Our trip ended on an unhappy note also, our flight was again delayed by about 2 hours, they charge huge amounts for food and drink at the airport, and there was no toilet paper in any of the toilets (we had to steal some serviettes).

In conclusion, despite the large list of disappointments, it is an experience, and if you are a strong character, not fussy, and patient, you may enjoy your experience here much more than others have

I returned from the hotel today. After reading the reviews on here I was very reluctant to go but I went with an open mind...I was with my teenage daughter and whilst I did find it too much at times the attention from the staff who learing over her I thought in general the majority of staff were 1st class...
The rooms were spotless, in fact the hotel was of a higher standard though maybe not as plush as the Hilton Dreams we were put into after ourlight cancelation. Food was of a high standard although mixers were not the best for drinks. My only real comlaint was lack of british inclusion in entertainment, its mainly Italian and Polish guests. But they are catering for the majority.... if its a british hotel you are looking for then this is probably not fot you

I found this hotel for very cheap on the web i thought it was to good to be true the hotel seemed lovley, i had read lots of reviews and thought wow !
the hotel its self was perfect clean, with shops for jewllery and esentials. the view was lovley looking over the pool which was also lovley.
right here i go ...... the staff although mainley polite were out of line, one of very few english girls we had meet woke up one afternoon to find a waiter at the end of her bed !!!, a couple of english people we knew got very bad food poisioning good knows how many italians got it because they wouldnt talk any english to you.
the amount of italians that were there is unbelieveable, i think that in the time we wetre there we meet 5 english people so if you do go grab them while you can !, the hotel is owned by italians so it would make sence but at no point were we informed of this, entertainment was all in italian and british along with a few polish and french felt segragated, there is two pool areas one really nice big area which the italians mainley occupied which was a shame, i know us and the people we meet felt pushed to the smaller pool (which i have to say does have a nice pool man called mohamid),
oh i have to mention a couple of the english people we had meet on the holiday had a accident whilst travelingt o ciro by coach, there driver fell asleep the lady we meet told us she was sertian of this they were all asked not to mantion this to anyone else, the coach had been flipped on to its side and the lady we meet had to wear a neck brace for the last week of her holiday.
some staff excludeing one reception worker our cleanner and the pool man were extreamley rude they would speek to others in italian or egyption when trying to have a convosation.
over all flawless building but no way would i recomend my worst enimy to go there !

Was apprehensive after seeing some of the negative reviews but we could not have been more surprised. The hotel is very clean, staff were excellent, friendly(They love the Brits)Food very good and lots of it.Not too geared to the Italians. You do not have to sign for drinks when on all inclusive, my suggestion is to use the bar by the big pool early evening when quiet but even when the entertainment is on its not that intrusive. The staff can not do enough for you and we never found one member of staff who didn't speak english. You can use facilities of the other Shores Hotels near by.Yes there are lots of Italians but not a problem. Mosquitoes were not a problem gardens sprayed regularly. The hotel has definitely made improvements. Some people will always find fault but in all honesty I couldn't find one in all the time we were there. The standard of service by the staff would put other hotels to shame.Would go again without doubt.

We stayed here at the begining of November and all in all we enjoyed it.
We were the only brits in the hotel for the first week and all the staff did make us feel more than wellcome as they do not like the Rusian guests and do not seem over fond of the Italians either.
As we were a party of three adults we were dissapointed to discover the third bed was a camp style bed we did ask for this to be changed but had no luck we were told this was standerd practice in all hotels, however we were given another mattress on top and this made a big differance and we were asked on more than one ocasion by the manager if the bed was ok.
Food was very repetative but on the whole we all enjoyed what we had.
All inclusive was very hard to fathem as only the pool bar was free and hot drinks had to be paid for.
Our room was cleaned every day and towels and bedding changed every other day.
Yes the main pool was very noisy but so what if it bothers you that much dont go there.
As far as we were concernd we had no complaints with the staff, room or food.
