Hotel was nice we stayed in room 535, which overlooked the main street, when sitting on the balcony it was noisy, once doors was closed myself and my children could not hear anything. Room was clean, Staff was very friendly.
Negatives - Spa Staff are pests, and 1 man (Aloo) in particular was very rude, we booked a massage, then after a few days we decided to have a facial instead, which was the same price, Done by the same people, The other staff in the spa told us that would be fine, Aloo was very persistent saying that this is not allowed, and if we didn't show up for the massage we would be charged, and if we didn't pay for massage, then they would just charge our room. Nothing was charged to the room on departure, so it was just him, probably because he lost his commission.
Food is OK but gets a bit boring, we all at one stage got an upset tummy, but this passed within a day. I would recommend as soon as you feel the pains get yourself to the pharmacy, they are very helpful, and give you 3 tables, pains stopped within few hrs. somebody called the doctor and was given the same tablets and charged £480.00

Entertainment was very limited, kids mini disco 8.30 - 9.00 everynight, (about 3 kids there) 1 night a fire show, the rest of the nights was holiday makers doing games and quizzes, this finishes at 10.30, then that's it's, no music, although the bar was still open. during the day it was aqua aerobics in the morning, then water polo in the afternoon, kids club, they only ever did colouring in.

Room Tip: rooms at the back 900+

Hotel Cleanliness - Starting with the hotel lobby - The Bar in the lobby, there was dirt in the water dispenser as it was visible to the people sitting on the bar while the bar tender was refilling one can see the dirt sediment in the dispenser. The Bar tender is also the person who cleans the floor, as he holds a filthy rag and cleans the floor, seconds later he would be serving drinks on the bar. The toilet in the lobby was simply unusable as its piping is faulty, dripping all over the place. In the room toilet there were swarms of ants. In the Restaurant the tables, chairs, and floor were as if no one cleans them at all, as area's were sticky to walk on multiple days, the tables were never cleaned between guests as they would seat you there without even attempting to clean it, the chairs were stained from food and also not cleaned between guests. House keeping would finish cleaning the room at 5-6 pm as opposed to every other hotel they would be done by the time back from breakfast.
The Service - Ordering a water bottle and 2 glasses on separate occasions had the same outcome of not showing up despite the numerous calls and complaint to the on duty manager saying its best they can do at the time. (after waiting in the room for a little over an hour). The food in the restaurant was very oily and there wasn't much of variety just very heavy food on the stomach. The snacks on pool and beach were either burnt (ex . mini burgers) or not fresh (ex. rock solid bread and pastries

Its a 5 minute walk to the beach, as you have to leave the hotel and actually walk across a street to get there, which is such a hassle.

Me and the rest of my family had booked in to stay for 2 weeks at Tropitel and initially really enjoyed our stay there.
Unfortunately it was marred by the fact that we had to return home more than a week early due to illnesses, we are still unclear on what caused it in the first place.
So I would advise to stick to food you know if you are unsure, just incase and to keep hydrated also.
The hotel is in a nice location, we didn't make it to the beach but heard wonderful things about it. A bit to "touristy" for my liking but the rest of the family enjoyed the shopping and entertainment.
The staff were all wonderful though at times a little impatient, the WiFi in the lobby did not work on any of our phones which made coming home difficult.
Overall, a lovely hotel but I would just be aware of how easily you can fall ill, and to make sure you have good travel insurance.

If you come to this hotel believing its a 4 star, or even a good 3 star hotel, you will enjoy it. If you expect a 5 star, you will be disappointed, hence some of the poor reviews, as I think some visitors expect too much.
I would rate each area as follows:

Accommodation- I would advise against rooms 1-500, as these are in the main block which is a bit "benidorm-ish"- Rooms above 500 are more spacious in size and and are in smaller blocks- the only downside is the walk up the hill to get there.

Cliental- Guests seemed to be about 30% British, 30% Russian, 30% Egyptian and 10% other. The mix generally worked well and the rudeness of the Egyptians and the arrogance of the Russians gave us Brits something to collectively moan about.

Facilities- The hotel has four main daytime areas- the liveliest and most fun was the Aqua park pool, with lots of banging tunes and people throwing themselves and others in the pool! The Olympic pool was a bit dull, the pool bar was in shade outside of 11am-5pm, but was OK and the beach was OK, but rather crammed and a 5 minutes walk out of the front of the hotel. Nighttime fun centred around the Sunset bar between around 9pm and 11pm- it was all very 18-30 type activities, which the Russians in particular seemed to love, but you can only watch so many talent contests and balloons being passed between peoples legs.....

Staff- the staff were great (except the cleaner incident which I will mention later)- they loved the Brits and really went of their way to make you feel special and appreciated. The only fly in the ointment was when we checked out. 5 minutes before we checked out, the cleaner approached us and asked for a tip. Well, he was going to get one, but when such a person asks for one, then its a big no, no for me. He didn't get one on that basis and then when we checked out 5 minutes later, we suddenly found ourselves surrounded by around 5 security staff and other "bouncers"demanding £30 off us for new sheets. Now there was one 3mm ink mark on one of the
pillows, but nothing on the rest of the sheets. We demanded to see the sheets, which they failed to do and after an hour or so debate, involving the manager Mohammed, they relented on the charge. This left a sour taste in what was otherwise a great experience from the staff.

Food- The food was what you would expect from an Egyptian al inclusive buffet- nothing special, but edible. I did not hear of any major food poisoning incidents, which is always reassuring. Drinks were rather disappointing, as I never once felt drunk and I am sure all alcohol was watered down, which might be expected in a Muslim country.

Location- excellent location for nighttime activities in the centre of the Narma Bay- definitely venture out to the Shisha bars and the markets and shops in the local area. Also highly recommend the Mexican restaurant next to the hotel- best Mexican I have ever tasted!

Overall-very good, but could have been better......

Excellent hotel stayed there in October 2013 leaving on my birthday. Staff in hotel cannot do enough for you, on arrival it was noted by reception (mr elhow) that my husband was disabled and he mentioned that the room we had booked was a distance to walk and suggested a room in main building which was lovely just perfect. Staff at pool/bar were all very attentive, restaurant staff were also very helpful. Cannot wait we are returning 29 September and have requested same floor/room (503) as last year and hopefully they will accommodate us. This year I plan to contact them nearer time to arrange transport to and from airport which I have not done before bug am sure this will not be a problem for this accommodating hotel.
