Myself, Husband and 6yr old daughter returned on the 18th Dec 08 and would fully recommend this hotel not only for families but for anyone. Everyone - hotel staff (no matter what job they did) entertainments team and all the in2action team were fantastic and friendly. Reps were always available if needed (not that we needed them). We were in a standard room there was plenty of room, the bathroom was also a large room. Water was delivered to our room daily and it was also cleaned daily. Well now for the food - our clothes were nice and loose when we arrived but not when we left, there was always a hugh selection to eat in the main buffet resturant no matter what your tastes with different themed nights. The Al E Carte resturants were excellent also, the only one we didn't go into is the fish one on the beach as only one of us eats fish (this one is also payable). My daughter has never eaten so much while we have been away as she did this holiday.
KIDS CLUB what can I say except for fantastic (one of the team we actually meet in Turkey in May 08) our daughter went to most of the sessions and throughly enjoyed them so much so that on her last one she was crying because she had to go home.
ENTERTAINMENT TEAM - FANTASTIC with kids time to start the evening off followed by news round, bingo and then adults time - we had tears running down our faces most nights through laughing, the team lead by Simon and Adam were excellent some nights setting challenges for you to do - ourselves and some friends we made were nicked named the GINGERBREAD THEIFS (anyone there over Xmas will understand) sorry hotel!
To end all in all our holiday was fantastic and came to an end all too soon we will deffinatly been returning to this hotel.

Holiday Village is a fantatic place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and do not hassle you for tips. There is so much to do on site with lots of activities for everyone. The kids clubs are very good. The weather in December was fabulous with just a couple of windy days but still hot. The main pool is cold but there is a warmer pool which was popular. The evening entertainment was very good and the entertainers put in a lot of effort. It can be a bit cheesy at times but that is part of the fun. The hotel looks great with lots of gardens to walk through to get to the main pool and beach. The beach is great if a bit gritty. There are loads of sunbeds among the palm trees. There are camels, mopeds to hire and all kinds of water sports. The food in the main restaurant was always excellent with loads of variety and well cooked, although the Egyptians don't know how to make decent cakes! We tried the Mediterraneo restaurant which we found disappointing. The portions were small and the food was undercooked so we didn't bother with the other a la carte restaurants. But the main restaurant easily made up for it. We will definately be going again. The only disappointment was the pier into the sea. It did not go anywhere near the reef where the best snorkelling is, making it very hard to get to it. The pier next door goes all the way out but you cannot use it although their guests were all using ours.

Stayed last 2 weeks in November temp 25 - 30.
Airport as stated by others busy. However there was a queue jump facility if you want a visa, this seem to speed it up (£13)

Hotel and staff great, stayed in block 3 with jacuzzi bath on patio. But note if you like to go to bed early, during the first week the night shows 7pm til 12:30am were in the outside ampitheatre and were very loud, if you like it quieter the swim up rooms were further away and as stated by others have your own (2) sunbeds. Although while we were there there was never a problem with sun beds, more than needed and also a large number of parasols all fixed.

Note there are lots of sun beds on the beach and if you get chance try one of the swinging sunbeds, rather good especially when the tide is in!

Yeah this is not 5 star becuase there are little problems or things that are not finished properly. But the service makes up for that, the animation team work hard and so do all the staff that do not get recognised but ensure it all goes together.

First Choice reps available on site virtually all day. A nurse that sleeps on site.
the pools are great, water slides good and snorkelling in the sea exceeeeelleeeeent.

Food good but yes repetitive afdter first week, but so what still good. tried the meditereanean, Indian and Chinese (all AI) yes nice for a change.

room had kettle, hair dryer, tv, dvd player and yes the fridge. (we took the drinks out and put our water in instead)

One down side I had a problem with mozzis, each night we would seek out thoise that had entered to kill them, but then in the morning woke with 1 or 2 new bites (over the 2 weeks that was a number of bites)
( 2years earlier stopped only 1 miles further along the coast and they every evening sprayed a fog around the outside of the rooms and never suffered one bite)

The other thing was left some clothes to dry on the patio dring the 2 weeks each day. on the second week my son was sat in the room when he saw one of the gardners take some clothing off the seats on the patio. When he told us this later we told the management. Who in fairness reacted quick and spoke to the gardeners and low and behold one of them claimed he had found my t shirt believing that it had blown away?
Moral do not leave anything expensive or too colorful which may attract magpies!

Another, although pre arranged and also covered in the booking in details, it was my wife's birthday whilst there but no basket of fruit appeared.

I also think if you want "special treatment" you need to tip at least every other day. I only tip the room at the end of the stay hence no petals or animal towels.

Where as the waiters were over helpful each day and were quite shocked at a generous tip at the end of the week, It is just me I think expecting people to do their best and not entertain just for the tips. I do admit that the tips are important for them and the service.

Yes outside there is a starbucks, Mc D's and TGIs almost finished. The shops nearby are very persistant in wanting your trade but NO is a good word, be persistant with it. And do not let them escort you to the cash machine nearby that is just too pushy.

Overall this is a great place for families with kids, as none of the pools are too deep, there is stacks to do and entertainment all the time.

The whole area is still being developed and changed significantly since we were there 2 years earlier, hope they do not over do it.

If you like walking there is a nice walk way between the beach and hotels which allows you the abilty to look at the others.

there was also a crown green bowling area, 5 a side pitch basketball court, tennis courts, table tennis, etc

There was an interesting charactor at this hotel and he returns on a regular basis, If i describe him as looking like a scottish Kenny Rogers then if ou have met him you will know who I mean. He is a lovely man and his wife long suffers his charactor, but say hello to him and enjoy his charactor.

First Choice also had a good idea, where there was a table outside the office where people could place used books magazines, sun tans, bite ointment and kids toys, blow ups, snorkels even oars for a boat, where you could help yourself and do as others leave them when you left.
Note if you leave the hotel front turn left there is a supermarket selling such items at reasonable price.
I find it hard to believe that if this is your type of holiday then you can do nothing else other than enjoy.

Would we go back yes, but we have other places to see as well.

We have just returned from the Holiday Village Hotel me,my wife and son and we had a wonderful holiday.
We had a swim-up room with a private sunbeds and a pool so we were isolated from the crowded areas and we did enjoy our privacy a lot.
The weather was great and we had a lot of dress, which never used.A jumper 1 or 2 is more then enough for one week holiday,as day time is so hot ,that you don't need any dress.

The food -I don't eat meat and i was happy to eat fish every day.
My son doesn't eat fish and he was happy to find every day a diffirent kind of meat.Everyday it was something different on teh buffet restaurant.Planty of food and well prepared. We were afraid to eat eggs, but we never had any problem with the rest of the food.
The drinks-beer is fantastic. The vine so so.

Entertainment-book with "Aquarius"(located on the beach) a trip to Ras Mohamed(snorkeling or diving). You will never forget this day.You don't have to pay for mask, snorkel or lifejacket.

If you want to enjoy the sun,go to bed early and wake up at 7.30.Lay on the sunbed and enjoy the hot morning. After 3p.m.starts getting cold a bit and soon you will need a T-shirt.By 5p.m. is already dark.

The hotel itself is good.It is so green everywhere and you have the feeling ,that you are in a botanic garden. The rooms are very large and clean. However you can see that everything is build so quickly and there are a lot of small remarks, if you are looking deeper to the details.

I visited this hotel in December 2008. I travelled with my mother who had a nasty accident in June which left her with walking difficulties. We booked this hotel purely on the basis that the website indicated that it was totally flat. Mum did have a few problems with a few slopes and stairs but overall was able to manage. The hotel complex is huge and that did cause a few problems but there are golf buggies available and if you ring reception, they will arrange to take you from one location to another. Anyway, back to the start. We arrived in Egypt at sunset and came in over the Sinai Mountains which left us with a wonderful first impression. The airport was ok. There was a very long queue for passport control but the staff processed everyone quite quickly and we were out of the airport within about 20 minutes. The transfer to the hotel was only another 20 minutes - which is great after a long flight. The welcome at the hotel was lovely and we were immediately shown to our room with our luggage following about half an hour later.

The hotel is very spacious and there were lots of available sunbeds at each pool area. We alternated between pools so that some days we were by the queit pool and on others went to the main pool and watched others playing water polo and we could see the activities on the beach like the zip wire, archery, camel rides, etc. It's worth taking a walk down the jetty and having a dip in the sea. It was a little cold at first but as soon as you start swimming around, it's lovely.

We found the main dining area to be more than adequate with a good variety of food. It might get a little repetitive after a two week stay but for our one week, it was fine. We ate one night in the fish restaurant on the beach - La Mer - where the food is included within the all inclusive package, except your fish. This is displayed as you go in and you choose what you like. It is then weighed and you are told how much it will cost. This meal was delicious and very well cooked, however, the restaurant atmosphere is more suited to couples! Very nice choice for a romantic evening. During the day, if you dont want to go to the main dining area, there are snacks available - burger and chips, salad, fruit and ice cream in the restaurant building by the main pool and sandwiches by the quiet pool. These are more than adequate for a lunchtime snack.

The two things that made the holiday so special were:
the weather - the sun was not strong at this time of year and it was easy to walk around without being burned. I'm a redhead and came home with a lovely brown tan. There was always a lovely breeze to cool you down and we didn't feel dehydrated or suffer any kind of illness in the time we were there.
the people - I always thought that the people in the Caribbean were the lovliest people I had ever met. The Egyptians have surpassed this! The staff were amazing. Immediately welcoming, chatty and honest. They did everything possible to make our holiday a happy one and were sympathetic to my mothers walking problem.. The staff at the hotel were genuinely interested in us and our culture. In particular, Mohamed in the main dining area who NEVER stops smiling and the reception staff: Hatem (who I had a great game of scrabble with and again is very helpful and smiles a lot) Ibrahim and Eslam. What fantastic people! I left the hotel feeling like I was leaving friends behind.
The people outside of the hotel were very friendly too and we only got hassled by one shopkeeper in Naama Bay but we stuck to our guns and said a firm "no" and walked away. Naama Bay is quiet an experience. Very busy and noisy. You should go there once to experience it. We didn't feel at all vunerable and it was interesting to see that area.
The only time we felt a bit ripped off was when we bought and English newspaper in the hotel which was £4 (should have checked the price first) and at the airport on the way home. The food here is very expensive (£21 for two sandwiches, a packet of crisps and two diet cokes) but the duty free shopping was very good. Otherwise, we found that everything was very cheap or reasonably priced.
I will definately be going back to Egypt and would have no problem with returning to the Holiday Village. It would be nice to see all the lovely people that we met again.
One thing I would like to say - for all of you Brits who go abroad - take you manners with you! There are some very rude people out there and it doesn't go unnoticed!

What a fantastic hotel.
A bit worried about some previous reviews but needn't have been.
Food in all the restaurants great with The Sari deserving a special mention.
All the staff we found to be very friendly and attentive at all times and always willing to pass the time of day with you from gardeners to management. Ahmed from the adult only bar was exceptional.
First Choice Reps were always on hand it seemed but never once did we need their services.
My only gripe was the price of drinks outside the complex. My advice would be to make full use of your all inclusive status in that respect.
Part of being on holiday for us is about meeting new friends and this holiday was no exception. Thanks to Tracey and Hazel for making this trip one to remember.

We were concerned reading the reports before we went but have to say there was no need to be. Maybe the problems in Jul/August when the hotel was at full occupancy were real but when we went in Nov the hotel was about half full.

We got sunbeds everyday but cannot understand the morons who get up at 7 to put towels on bed. Totally selfish and unnecessary and 7am isn't my idea of a holiday!

Get your restaurant visits booked early on (1 in each per week), if you don't book early stop moaning if you can't get in. All restaurants were good (altho there was one miserable waiter in the Bamboo). All staff are excellent. If I had to eat in the buffet for 2 weeks I would have got bored so get those restaurants booked in early. Also don't book a bottle of wine as its payable. If you order by the glass its within your all inclusive.

Our room was spotless and the cleaner visited daily to see if we were happy and if we needed anything.

Bottled water was left in the room, the minibar wasn't cheap. Ask for it to be emptied on arrival and leave your water in the fridge. Detach your key from the fob and leave the fob in the electric point in the room so your fridge/aircon never turns off.

None of our party got dicky tummys, I did get an infected bite and had to go to the docs. It cost £35 (but thats about the same as any Carribean country I've been to) plus the cost of prescriptions (about £4 fo reach). You also get a free follow up appointment which is good.

Block 2 (all jacuzzi rooms) overlook the sea and pools. It is one of the best blocks in my humble opinion.

Check in was good, the airports coming in and leaving were horrendous (but thats always the same in Egypt - organised chaos).

The staff are lovely, and great with children. A small tip goes a long way. It is not forgotten so well worth it.

We were told by First Choice not to book trips with anyone else but we booked scuba and snorkelling with Aquarius and they were good.

Ask prices outside of resorts before committing. A camel ride on the beach was £5 each person.

All in all this was a good value holiday and I would go back.
