“Fantastic hotel”
Reviewed 14 May 2012 via mobile

We booked this hotel as a last minute booking on the Olympic website so we were a bit anxious but we were very happy with our choice.
The rooms were clean and the largest I've ever stayed in. Massive!!
We stayed on a bed and breakfast option and were very happy with this. The breakfasts gave us a great selection from home made pastries, cooked, salads or just fruit. We had our lunches at the hotel in the pool bar and were not disappointed.
The hotel is also not all in one overcrowded block but spaced out over beautiful gardens.

The only con was that house keeping changed the towels and sometimes forgot to bring any back even though this was quickly remedied by a phone call.

I'm also glad of the location, it's not a walkable distance to any town but they do have a mini bus tha offers free drop off and the taxi's only cost about £4 so perfect!

I'd recommend this hotel!! It was a pity to leave!

We went to Sharm for a week in the last week of April...

The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms were massive and beautifully laid out. Lots of lovely big towels and a really huge bed! Our room was always cleaned spotlessly and the room attendant was never intrusive.

The pool area is wonderful and well equipped with sunbeds, parasols and wind breakers. I didn't find the planes flying overhead too noisy and overall the hotel was really lovely.

However, I have to say I was not impressed by the staff. There was an overwhelming ambivalence in their attitude towards us. The pool bar alternated between sleazy and aloof... The plastic outdoor glasses were often dirty and there was no apology if you asked them to get a clean glass. The waiters in the main restaurant were also a bit off hand which was disappointing.

The food was average: We always found something to eat but the food could be bizarre at times... One night was mainly seafood which was a bit of a problem for my partner as he doesn't eat fish. Breakfast was by far the nicest meal of the day, fresh omelettes were lovely.

Overall, this is a great hotel... I wouldn't bother staying All inclusive again as I don't think they really understand it as a concept (I have stayed in a few AI resorts which were truly AI) and there are plenty of places to eat elsewhere. The staff let this hotel down for me which is a shame as the actual resort is fantastic.

PS I would definately recommend the Thai restaurant... yes its pricey but that was one of the best thai meals I have eaten!

OK, great, good value hotel on the main road, 5 mins from the airport and 5 mins from Naama Bay, here's what you need to know in bullet form to save you wading through all the reviews;

- Great grounds and gardens, well laid out. Golf buggies to get around. International clientele and no battling for the sunbeds.

- Get the basic room for around £19.00 a night B&B from somewhere like 'Moneysupermarket' or 'Travel Republic' websites when they've got a deal on - best value in town.

- We found the 'All Inclusive' option not very good value, it's not fully comprehensive, more like all inclusive 'light' or 'bronze' and there are some restictions.

- The rooms are located in individual blocks with a strange numbering system, 4100 - 5800.

- Get the basic room and upgrade when you get there for an extra £10 a night.

- These rooms are fitted with a 40" Sony flatscreen tv with 42 channels (ten of them movies), safe, fridge, hairdryer, 10(!) seats, 3 phones, 2 aircon units, 2 sinks, separate dressing area, power shower, massive separate bath, kingsize bed etc. - well worth it.

- The room cleaning is not the best but do use the laundry service, it's really good and cheap.

- Blocks 47 & 54 are ok but the best rooms are upstairs in block 58, room 5829 being the last room in the hotel and particularly nice, good views and handy for everything.

- The downstairs rooms are OK but can suffer from bug problems, 'bug rugs' across the threshold to stop them entering don't really work - take some bug spray, lots - the roaches here are red, 4 inches long and have wings.

- We took 5 different types of bug stuff and used it all. Saw some people with really bad bites. I got 20 'impacts' in the first few days, mostly round the lower legs around dusk.
The flytraps and smoke the hotel employs don't seem to do the trick.

- The food is good with a great buffet selection, soups, salad, bread and excellent cakes. There are some theme nights with Indian, Asian, Meditteranean etc. but no real difference to the normal nights.

- The 'free' Italian meal you are allowed once a week is very poor and restricted in choice.

- The Thai restaurant is vastly overpriced (£15 for a starter! In Egypt!!!) and is permanently empty. They offer you a whopping £3.50 off you meal as a tempter to try get you in - doesn't seem to work.

- The drinks are cheap local brands on all inclusive, 4% Sakkara from the pump and Coke from a warm 2 litre bottle. Bottles of water are given out freely, get some for the room. God help you if you don't wear your blue 'A/I' band.

- The entertainment is pants, same as the rest of this town. Bingo / Dancer / Bingo / Dancer follwed by a disinterested karaoke singer. The music in the bar is blasting out, even when the place is empty. Get the free 7.30pm or 9.00pm bus to Naama Bay (book early) and come back at 11.00pm.

- The animation team are lower profile than in other hotels but still a bit 'in your face' as are the photographer, masseuse, hairdresser, excusion guy, thai waiter etc.

- The planes do fly over, every five minutes at peak times but doesn't really bother you.

- Free internet throughout the hotel with a free computer and printer in reception for guests to use - just gotta kick the kids off who seem to hog it playing games all day.

All in all, a good hotel at a great price - make sure you really need the all inclusive option though...

Room Tip: Get a room upstairs in block 58. Room 5829 is good...

Interesting the range of experiences reviewed regarding the Royal Peninsula.
Arrived back from a weeks holiday yesterday staying all inclusive.
The hotel was far from busy, temperatures were hitting 34c and a strong breeze was around all week (reduces the feel of the heat).
Guest nationalities were varied. Not one large group of any nationality but it was nice to see a number of Arabic families staying at the resort.
I will try not to repeat the majority of comments of others.
1 Yes aircraft fly overhead but it is not intrusive
2 All inclusive food is pretty much standard fayre for these type of establishments. Invariably the food starts to feel/taste the same after a few days. As a vegetarian I did find a lack of choice of hot food an irritant but many other hotels/resorts are similar.
3 Lots of restaurant staff but many appeared to be standing around - not necessarily attentive to customers.
4 As above sometimes tables were fully set and at other times items were missing - cutlery/glasses etc
5 At times the waiters could not wait to remove your plates etc, even when still finishing the last mouthful. At other times used plates/.cutlery etc could build up on your table
6 Sometimes waiters were keen to show you to a table at others you were left to find your own
7 Sometimes you had to wait for a waiter to come and ask you what you wished to drink, at other times having placed your drink order it would take 10 minutes for the drink to appear
8 All staff appeared to go out of their way to talk to you. They did not appear to be motivated by who was offering tips etc
9 Evening entertainment was the usual fayre - low quality

The hotel/resort whilst close to a main road does feel isolated and you are not encouraged to go walk out outside the perimeter. We did not bother going out to Naama etc as we have been before. We did catch the bus to the beach which was fine.

Yes the hotel could be better. It appears that they do have quality standard issues as others have reflected and as I have mentioned. Most seasoned Egyptian tourists understand that a 5* grade hotel will not be the same as a 5* in some other countries.

I have experienced better and worse in Egypt and our time at the hotel was fine for what we wanted - a peaceful break.

This is a 5 star Egyptian standard hotel - and thus a very good medium/deluxe class hotel.
I booked before arrival an executive room and was very pleased with it - Very spacious, light, spotlessly clean and a massive bathroom.
The hotel was well maintained, gardens and facilities, what worked for me was the open layout, all ground floor rooms in pentagon style, not overlooked by any other room.
The pool is freeform, very large and plenty of sun loungers, parasols and masses of space, so not sunbathing like sardines.
Used the gym modern well equipped and air conditioned.
The food was okay, I was there in an all inclusive basis, they have to cater for the international market, so on the whole it delivered but not the best or worst I've had.
The Thai restaurant is very good they give a nominal credit towards the bill as an all inclusive guest, but worth the extra spend.
WIFI - available throughout the resort free of charge - best connection in the lobby, a bit ropey round the pool and restaurant, but got connected more of the time than not.
Mainly British guests when I was there last week - this is one of the more civilised hotels on the red sea that I have been too and was peaceful, fairly quiet and relaxing. (no drunk russians)
The staff were great, funny, pleasant, polite and unobtrusive. (I do feel for them, as some guests speak to them in the most awful fashion - treat others as you would like to be treated - if you want true 5 star go to the "Four Seasons/Savoy" but if your not gonna pay those prices .....)
The planes do fly over but not an issue for me, didn't notice after the first few hours, (timed them, take less than 10 seconds to go over, so on the whole less than 2 minutes off your day with planes)
I enjoyed my stay here, will go back again at some point - good peaceful quiet and relaxed hotel resort with good facilities and rooms.

Room Tip: Corner Executive rooms are double aspect.

Just arrived back from a week's stay and overall had a lovely time.

Location: the hotel is about a mile from the airport and two miles from Naama Bay. I liked the distance from Naama Bay and the fact that one is not in the midst of the constant hustle and noise. However, it would have been nice for there to have been more frequent shuttle buses provided into Naama Bay as these were few and far between and liable to be fully booked. Whilst a cab to Naama was around 40 Egyptian pounds each way, this soon proved a little costly if making the journey daily.

In terms of the airplane noise, yes, the planes are very low overhead as they approach the airport. But, I didn't find this particularly irksome as most days we were out and about and at night I'm a fairly heavy sleeper so wasn't disturbed.

The hotel itself: whilst ostensibly 5*, such ratings are invariably subjective. For me, 5* would mean wifi in every room, turn down service, iPhone docks and speakers in each room, multilingual concierge, plasma TV, a swim-up pool bar, climate controlled aircon systems etc. This wasn't the case at the Maritim. The rooms were great - huge size and enormous bathroom. Two double beds per room. Rooms cleaned daily, beds freshly changed daily, clean towels always provided. But, the TV was somewhat ancient with a temperamental remote, the aircon was noisy and no plug adapters were provided.

The grounds of the hotel were lovely - beautiful scented flowers, well-tended lawns. The pool is enormous, clean, lots of sunbeds. Annoyingly, one cannot eat meals on one's sunbed - you have to eat in the pool area restaurant. Similarly, there is no waiter service from the sunbeds.

Food: we chose bed and breakfast given that we were diving and out of the hotel on several days. Breakfast was good - numerous choices, omelette station, pastries, cold meats. Poor selection of cereals though, and no 'western' spreads such as peanut butter or marmite. Lunch at pool bar was good and good value, as was the Italian restaurant that we ate in on two evenings.

Beach: the hotel provides a half-hourly
free shuttle to its sister-resort (Maritim Golf) with its own private beach. This was truly lovely. Stunning cove, beautiful flowers and incredible snorkelling. Sun loungers were plentiful, food at the beach bar was nice an we spent many days there.

In summary, a good stay. Helpful staff, nice surroundings and good value. If you want true 5* luxury though then this doesn't tick all the boxes.

We arrived for an 8 night break on Monday 16th April. The room was very large, very clean and the bed so comfortable I'd have liked to take it home. The bathroom was huge with a walk in shower capable of accommodating 2 people at a time, separate bath (with another shower over) and double sinks. There was plenty of storage space and a free safe for valuables. The grounds were large and colourful and the pool equally impressive. Sunbeds (or the finding of) was never a problem though we were there in the shoulder season. We booked bed & breakfast and found the buffet breakfast sufficient though there wer some issues with cups and glasses running out. We also ate at the Italian Restaurant on site and were impressed with the offerings. Despite some of the coments made on here by other reviewers I didn't find a member of staff who wasn't helpful, smiling and making me feel welcome. The free shuttle bus to the beach are at sister hotel was a bonus as was the free shuttle bus to/from Namma Bay which we made good use of. Two things I would coment on though, the hotel is not 5*, not when compared to true 5* hotels so don't expect the Ritz! If you want true 5* then your invoice would be a lot bigger than it is. Secondly, the hotel does lie about 2 miles out on final approach so there is aircraft noise. Personally it didn't bother me though people may be annoyed at not being told by the holiday companies as they don't appear to mention it in their literature. All in all a great hotel, staff and location. I will be happy to return there later in the year :-)
