Friendly hotel

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Feb 2013
After moving to the Coral Hills from our previous rubbish hotel we were treated very well when we booked in. We had a lovely time even though the food is basic and a bit repetative we still managed to find something to eat. If you could not find anything they would cook you what you wanted if you wanted it at a minimal charge. Rooms were cleaned every day and nothing was too much for the staff if you needed anything. Memo the excursion guy was very friendly and helpful. He even assisted accompanied us in the taxi when our transfer to the airport never arrived to go home. Thanks Memo !

Room Tip: Wifi at the Stella Bar or KFC in Il Mercato is free! Book your excusions via Memo, he's...

We have just returned from a ten night stay at the Coral Hills resort. The hotel is rated as a four star but this is very misleading, in our opinion it was around the two star mark.
On arrival to our room we found that the pillows cases had not been changed and were smelly, we had to hand wash them before we could sleep. The balcony light was broken which was repaired the next day. The room telephone did not work and we told reception the next morning but nothing was done about it the whole time we were there. The room was dirty and dusty with hair on the floor. The room was very outdated and badly needed decorating.
As for the staff, the reception guys were not friendly or helpful whatsoever and did not seem interested in putting things right or keeping the customers happy.
We were only bed and breakfast thank God, as the food was not good at all, the breakfast was the same 5 choices, edible but very bland and boring. Restaurant staff were friendly enough but not that efficient.
The internet is mega expensive and absolutely useless. £4.00 english pounds for 1 hour and then it is so slow we gave up as we couldn't do anything with it. Use a local internet cafe at £1 per hour with fast internet instead.
The two swimming pools were ok but the water was freezing cold, even in 28 degree sunshine.
The hotel states that it has a sauna, games room, gym, massage and entertainment......do not expect any of this....ok it is there, but everything looks like it has closed down and not been used for months.
The main thing I want to stress to you is about the man who runs the beauty salon in the hotel.
Whatever you do, AVOID HIM AND HIS SALON LIKE THE PLAGUE. My wife wanted a manicure and I wanted a shave and facial etc. I was told the price would be 400 egyptian pounds, but for that we would get another one free before we come home. The salon owner wanted all the money upfront, which I said no, and paid him 200 egytian pounds as a deposit. After the first set of beauty treatments we were so dissapointed in the standard, we did not want the additional ones.
Next day the salon owner collared me in reception and asked for the extra 200 egyptian pounds.
When I told him that we were not happy with the service and that we did not want the "free" treatment he became aggresive and started argueing with me saying that I had to pay as that was the agreement and it was my choice not to take the second treatment, but I must pay anyway. Eventually after 5 mins of arguement with no help or intervention from the manager or reception, I paid him the money just to get him off my case. The man has no idea of coming to an agreement or putting the customer first, he is a greedy bully.
When I complained I was told the manager was away on holiday, and I spoke to another guy who knew the salon owner. He said that he would sort it out and understood my complaint. Guess what... I never heard any more from him, probably didn't even speak to him about it.
We met a lot of people out there and went to their hotels, and it was obvious that for what you pay for Coral Hills , you could get a much nicer, friendlier hotel with far better food and service for the same or even less money.
To sum up.....Tired, dirty, run down, poor food, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, rip off bullying salon owner.
We will go back to Sharm, but definately will NOT be staying at Coral Hills again.

We have just returned from a week at the Coral Hills resort, and found the hotel great, staff very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them, and as for the food there was always something that you could eat. To be honest after reading the reviews we were very apprehensive about going, but there was nothing to worry about at all, hotel, staff, food and location were all great, rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels and bedding, plus sun lounger towels were supplied as well, there is also a courtesy bus that takes you to the beach and Naama Bay. We would definitely choose this hotel again, and thank all the staff for looking after us so well.

We read a few reviews for this resort and some were a bit harsh to be fair.
The resort is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. This resort is more 3 star than the advertised 4 star though.
The pools are nice, though not heated. Water was cold in January. Its also spacious, with plenty of sun beds though we did go off season so this may be an issue during peak season.
The free shuttle bus to and from Naama Bay was a bonus along with the shuttle to the nearby beach.
The resort has a gym but this is of a very poor standard and would not pass health and safety standards by any chance. Best to avoid it to be honest. The beauty parlour is of a below average standard. The shave and other services claim to be good but they are not. Best to avoid it!
A major downside to our holiday was the food. To say it was repetitive would be an understatement. Every day they had rice, the same vegetables and were alternating between fish, chicken & beef! Though this may be due to the hotel having less guests, its unfair as we still paid for all inclusive and would expect better. Especially as they claim to be a 4 star resort.
This was our 4th visit to Egypt and our 3rd to Sharm. It was a lot cheaper than our previous visits so to sum it up, you get what you pay for...
A final note, the safe in our room (113) was not bolted down. I used it upon arrival but the next morning i noticed it moved whilst entering the code. I didn't address the issue with the hotel but again, i'd expect more from a resort who claim to be 4 star!

I paid £500 for a week's all inclusive. I found that my room was clean, and made up every day I was there. The staff were very friendly and if there were any small problems they were sorted out straight away. I agree with a previous entry that it isn't the best hotel in Sharm but for the money paid it is excellent value for money. I have booked again for March 2013 this time for 2 weeks. The only downside is that the food can be a bit samey, but it is perfectly edible and nothing at all wrong with it. It is set in a lovely quiet location, and the perfect place to chill out and relax. I would recommend it to anyone who didn't want to pay a great deal for a good hotel to do exactly what I did - nothing!!

We have stayed in this hotel 4 times and have just booked our 5th visit for Feb/March. We have always got good value for money and the manager, Mr Hany, and his staff are always pleasant and helpful. We prefer this hotel as there are 2 pools, we use the quiet one as we don't like to listen to music while we are reading. The food is excellent with a good choice and very attentive chefs and waiters (ask & ye shall receive). As we had been 3 times, it was nice that we were recognised as soon as we arrived last November. We are starting to feel like family now as this is how we are treated.
