Just got back from a 10 day stay at the Aqua Blue and have to say it was absolutely fantastic. Having read some reviews on here before leaving I felt a little nervous as to what we would find, but the hotel didn't disappoint. From the moment we checked in to when we left the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Treat them as you would like to be treated and you can't go wrong, take an attitude like the Russians and you won't make friends. Sadly the Russian take on queuing is simple.... they don't! I felt for the staff having to put up with their attitude, thankfully the staff seemed to know how they are.

The park is full of water slides, over 30 I believe. This makes for a great holiday for the kids and adults, the slides are fully staffed and after feeling a little nervous at first, their presence is reassuring. The water areas are well kept and well stocked with sunbeds. Get up early to get your slot and you can't go wrong. We didn't have any problems with getting sunbeds, even during the busy half term period. All areas of the pool are swept, tidied and kept very clean and tidy. Add to this the numerous bars that are around the pool and slide areas and you can't go wrong. All bars serve beer, soft drinks and ice cream in the afternoons.

The restaurants are what you'd expect from an all inclusive, lots of choice, as much as you like, but they get a little repetitive after 5-6 days. Not the fault of the hotel as they have 4 big restaurants to cater for your tastes, Chinese, Italian, Mediterranean and another with a bit of everything.

The evenings were spent outside at one of the bars above the main restaurant. The bar staff were very very helpful, bringing drinks to our tables whenever we looked 'dry'! We tipped appropriately and got the service in return. The kids loved the various cocktails on offer (alcohol free). Again, I couldn't fault the staff here, very friendly and helpful.

Our rooms were kept clean by daily visits from the 'maid'. Again, another very friendly and helpful chap. Nothing was too much trouble, extra pillows, toilet roll and towels were met with extra supplies.

Overall the hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy, the grounds well kept and watered and all in all staff were eager to help. Strangely the only staff that seemed unhelpful and surly were the reception staff (where you would expect the best service surely?). On one occasssion we needed the number for the Hard Rock Cafe to ring and make a reservation. They didn't have the number and made no effort to find it. A short trip to the internet cafe brought it up in Google in 5 seconds, why they couldn't have done this I don't know??

Now the bad points....

The rooms although clean and tidy don't have connecting rooms, so a family room means you have to share with the kids. Our room also didn't have a double bed as standard, I'm sure they would have supplied this if we'd requested though. When we pushed the two beds together to make a double the positioning of the lights meant whenever your head moved the lights came on!!

My major gripe with the hotel is the lack of free WiFi internet access. The reception charges around £8 per hour (in half hour blocks) to use their WiFi. Very expensive when your business means you need to check email etc each day. Luckily I found two outside the hotel. The Champions Pub directly outside has free WiFi when you use the pub (good excuse for a draught Heineken!). Also, just down the road their is an internet cafe which charges about £1.20 per hour, much cheaper and better than the hotel. Although don't be fooled by the buildings' exterior, they're really nice and helpful guys in there, saved my life work wise!!

Come on Aqua Blue, it's 2010 - help your guests by giving them free WiFi access in reception, or atleast make it affordable.

Sharm El Sheikh itself is very underdeveloped. There's really nothing outside the hotel itself and the area has the appearance of a war zone in some areas. You need to venture to the Old Market or Na'ama Bay areas to find shops and markets.

A word of warning - when visiting the markets, stay alert and DO NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING, even taking a picture of a camel can land you in trouble with demands of money. Make sure you haggle for everything, start at around 50% of their price to get the best deals.

A quick guide on tipping. I never knew what to tip for what. For room service we tipped the guy about 10 Egyptian Pounds every couple of days, he seemed fine with this. For bar staff we tipped around 20 - 40 Egyptian Pounds for an evening of service. And for cabs, again about 10-20 Egyptian Pounds for a short trip. There's no hard and fast rule, but the staff seemed happy with that. Of course, you don't have to, but the staff rely on tips and will reciprocate with good and prompt service.

Had a fantastic time at the Aqua Blu. Travelled with husband &3 kids (11,10 &6) and didnt see them from one meal time to the next. Four restaurants were great (although the Cave de Roi was hugely busy at all times) selection of food was fab. (too many fussy people about) Slides were great and the staff did make sure that mats were handed back. Kids area was extremely busy so to get a lounger you will need to be up with the birds, but then thats understandable. Rooms were kept immaculate and your jammies were folded for you. Staff were very polite and courteous at all times. You do need to take your own snorkel & masks to ensure that they work and swimming shoes as the ground is burning hot sometimes. Yes you do get pestered by other companies for tattoos, massage, boat trips etc but just say no. We didnt go to Sharm itself cause the kids had so much fun at the park. We did do on the Red Sea Cruise, Sinai at Night and Beginners Padi diving all thru Thomsons and yes it was expensive but they were worth it, the food was lovely and the guides were great too. I think that if we go again we would try the other companies tho. Yes it is a pain that kids and parents dont consider people still sleeping at 6.30am and go runnning down the corridor and it wasnst just the foreigners. Great mix of people, Polish, Russian, German, Brits. Fantastic for all the family of all ages. Go Go Go. We are going to go back at Easter.

We being myself and hubby and our friends with thier same aged daughter have just spent a really lovely week in the aqua blue. accomodation was great. plenty of room beds were great although our friends had a folding bed for thier daughter and we had a full sized single. the resort was run with military presision with staff checking around making sure there was always attendants in every area. always willing to do anything to help. lovely attitude and great with the kids. water rides impeccable with life guards by the dozen! clean pool towels every day. safety primary although later in the day sometimes they got a bit bored! quiet pool available also! enough beds for everyone at this time of the season. food was varied with 4 resataunts although they did double up the menu sometimes. food available at most times of the day even through the night! resort open to public at a charge. security guards on all entrances! we went outside the resort for all of 20 mins and soon came back..horrid! although you will find the cheapest footwear essential for the beach. aqua and beach prices double and will not barter! beach 200 yards away with aqua spaces with all inclusive benefits.beach is builders sand and you do need footwear - sea coral will tear your feet. nahmah bay is closest town and is just horrible unless you enjoy being accosted! every single shop and his brother wants a bit of you! my kids were so scared we came back after having a great meal in Hard rock cafe without even looking at the shops! not a lot of choice with alcohol lager wine vodka and whisky every thing else charged for. I paid 40 egyption pounds for a tot of bailys which was about 5.20! tipping is a good idea gets you lots of attention 5 egyption pounds = 80p the entertainment was poor to say the least. bored entertainers with no talent. even after having a drink we were falling asleep! a week was just right two weeks maybe too long?

We were worried after reading some of the reviews on here but after having spent 10 nights at this hotel i wonder if there is a different Aqua Blu hotel!!! From our arrival to our departure the staff could not have been more friendly. We had no problems checking in and our bags were taken straight to our room. We overlooked the Shrek pool which was great as it didnt get busy till late afternoon so was nice and peaceful in the morning. There was a bit of a problem being woke up at 4 in the morning with the mosque calling for prayers but we got used to it and didnt hear it every night although this must just have been where our room was placed as other people we spoke to didnt hear anything.
The pools are fantastic at this hotel and cater for all ages. The slides are a bonus as they kept my daughter busy as did the raft boats.
The food is the same as at any all inclusive hotel:great for the first few days but then gets boring although there are plenty of places to eat at: i would definately recommend the italian for pizzas made to order or the indian restaurant for the curries and kebabs. Absolutely impossible to go hungry at this hotel as you could always find something to eat. Drinks are as you would expect-freeflowing. I would like to thank Shawky at the Goofy bar- he always had a smile for you and worked hard not to be rude to the ignorant russian/german guests: hes a better person than me as im not sure i could have kept my cool (they are so rude to such hardworking staff it grates on your nerves but what can you do!!)
The entertainment isnt up to much but the team do try hard to get you involved without being pushy. The night party at the Wave pool was the best as everyone got in the water, even my teenage daughter with a face full of make-up!!!!! Great fun.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday, met some great people (hiya to Dawn,Ian and gang)and would go back in a heartbeat. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.
