More detailed review below but here are the main points:

Food - typical all-inclusive mega buffet, well presented but table setting and resetting system a bit flawed. Other restaurants better but more limited on choice. Food probably the main reason this isn't a five star hotel in reality.

Room - Really great, spacious, airy (after room change due to broken A/C!), could do with little updates here and there.

Drinks - Mostly fine with bottled water readily available. Wine no go personally. Draught lager very good.

Pools/Beach - Pools: idyllic and big enough even if sun loungers a little short in supply. Beach: plenty of loungers but also irritating salespeople.

Staff - Waiters, servers, housekeeping very friendly, animation work very hard but didn't work for us, reception staff letting the hotel down - basically unwelcoming and not hugely helpful.

Overall - We would go back but can't help thinking we will try to find and afford a slightly more expensive hotel. This hotel very much deserves its ranking on Trip Advisor and is excellent value for money, but to us, the food and reception staff prevent a five star review grading. It is also worth noting most travel operators consider this a UK 4 star not a 5 star establishment. The review here is from the viewpoint as a 4 star hotel.

We arrived a little before midnight and with a not as warm welcome as some other reviewers have described, asked if we might be able to get some food as we were starving. Afraid that we would be directed to the not all-inclusive, but 24hr, room service menu, we were actually taken straight to the italian restaurant which still had food out which was an unexpected nicety. After food we went back to reception and the welcome did not improve and we were left outside waiting for a porter for 5 minutes. A golf buggy arrived and a porter drove us down to our room, garden view but within 15 seconds walk to the beach.
Room huge, lovely tiled flooring and marbled bathroom, fruit bowl, queen bed: which we had asked for after booking, slippers, bottled water in the minibar etc. The room was not initially cool as the room electrics require you to use your room keycard to activate them and thus turn air con on too. This done, the room did not cool down and after 15mins, an error code appeared on the air con control panel. A call to reception prompted two staff to arrive in 10mins and they also concluded it wasn't working and left. 10mins later again a phone call to ask if we wanted to stay and have it fixed the next morning or move to a room that would be a twin bed as opposed to a double. We expressed a little irritation at this as it was so late at night but concluded we wouldn't be able to sleep so moved rooms. Fortunately the new room was only a short walk, accompanied by porter again, it had a portion of sea view, was equally close to the beach and was only a little smaller. To our pleasant surprise the staff had also managed to push the two twin beds together to make a 7-8ft wide double, albeit with separate duvets (possibly also a blessing(!)). With air con working this made for a very comfortable room even if it was a bit annoying delaying bed by a further hour after checking in. Both rooms were spotlessly clean, appeared recently decorated and very airy. Actual fittings are dated and some fixtures and furnishings in the bathroom could've done with some TLC. A poor bit of grouting around the floor meant we had a couple of large ants in every eve but nothing beyond what you might expect in this climate. The safe said low battery so after trying to get new batteries that never arrived we stopped using it.
Housekeeper, Ahmed, was very charming and endearing, especially when my girlfriend had a fairly serious stomach upset, he was especially attentive and understanding. Towel art was incredible!
Food is always going to provoke maybe a more personal opinion than other areas of review, so I shall try to stay objective. The main buffet is large and with a good variety, trying to cater to many nationalities, even if the hotel mostly caters for Russian guests. (When we stayed I'd guess 90% of guests were Russian.) Food is presented mostly very well even after the buffet has been open for over an hour. I am not a fussy eater so tend to have a bit of nearly everything but when finished with my first portion of variety, it was sadly rare that I would find a dish that I would go back and get seconds. Possibly because I was already full, but more often than not, the seemingly lavish variety weirdly provided little to want to go back for. The main issue with the main restaurant was the small number of staff clearing tables and resetting them. There was also no cutlery tray so if a table hadn't yet been reset, one would have to go and ask for cutlery or take from another table.
There are three other restaurants: Indian which you get included once per week of your stay which is very good indeed. Service excellent and staggering sea views from the terrace as night falls. Beach oriental restaurant is NOT what we would call oriental, it is in fact traditional Egyptian food and requires booking also but you are not limited in how many times you can go there for free. As this suggests, this restaurant was not the same standard as the Indian and was very meat heavy but cultural and nice with very good waiter service again. Finally, an Italian restaurant with some food cooked at the counter as you wait - very tasty, and a small buffet alongside which pales into insignificance when you compare it to the main buffet restaurants laden counters of grub. Easier to get a table with cutlery and napkins though in here and our prefer option for dinner. All restaurants have bars but it is fairly difficult to get waiter service at the main buffet one. Water dispensers all over the place but quite often a shortage of glassware. Drinks were served in small measures and were usually very palatable, apart from the wine we concluded.
Shisha bar (shisha not included but a very reasonable EGP25 (~£2.50)) was really great place with very friendly staff.
About four small beach areas but with no shortage of loungers and also no shortage of uber excited salespeople that try to befriend you... and the rest. None were rude but this did get wearing after a day so moved to the relax adult pool which is sublime and with superb waiter service plus iced flannels at around 11am. No salespeople allowed here and consequently tricky to get a lounger with any parasol here if you arrive after 9am.
Wonderful selection of watersports very close to hotel and also private jetty to swim off or snorkel off. Also did fantastic day boat trip with snorkelling organised through our rep, from Sharm marina. If you have never snorkelled (in Red Sea) before, it is a must.
Animation team try hard to please all the guest nationalities and we did join in with the activities in earnest in the evenings but have to say some evenings such as bingo were not entertaining. We can't comment on the daytime animation as we didn't use the main pool - another lovely part of the hotel though.
Hotel gardens and buildings overall look very smart even if some lawns could do with a little more watering. Also some smashed garden lights and very uneven paths due to non recessed manhole covers - ok being pedantic now.
Weather - well this is Egypt in June - faultless. Between 32-38 degrees every day and 'cooling' to about 25 in the evenings. Bit of breeze everyday and consistently cloudless.
All buildings are pretty well air-conditioned.
Wifi in all rooms and reception but nowhere is it free for any amount of time. Enjoyed the lack of outside communication but would have been nice to see a free trial offered just to check emails half way through the stay if you are into that.
The restaurant booking system is a nice idea but flawed as nobody seems to know how to use it or when it allows you to book what. Don't bother, just try and locate the guest services manager and do it through her.
Surliness of reception staff never really went away since the first 'welcome' - when we came to check out, the card machine was broken. I was asked if I would settle the bill by taking cash out from the hotel ATM. This would have left me with leftover currency so I politely refused. Eventually another member of staff tried the machine with a different card and it worked. I used the first card fine at the airport later that day so not sure what happened but all in all the staff verged on belligerent with this situation.
Our rep advised us to use the hotel doctor in light of my partner's aforementioned unwellness. The doc was mostly very professional and although he suggested fairly drastic medication (drip, which didn't attach so just ended up using injections and pills), it did work and we only lost a day to a poorly tummy --and £100 (insurance excess means we can't claim for this amount).
Overall we would recommend this hotel and it, more than anything, represents superb value for money. It is easy to forget how relatively little you paid when you are criticising things afterward. That said, we used these reviews to allow us to choose this hotel and have a great holiday, and assume fellow travellers want our honest opinion.
A very well run hotel with gorgeous views, gardens and pools. Pretty good food on the whole and mostly very attentive staff.

Room Tip: Many are ground floor rooms but all seem very spacious compared to European hotels.

We arrived for a 2 week break on 22 May 14 - we arrived rather late in the evening and upon check in we asked for a seafront room, which was given to us without any kind of hassle it was simply not a problem. The rooms are all fantastic, clean, air conditioned and most with fantastic views TV which could do with more UK channels as we only had 1 & sky news most channels are for the Russian & Italians. The facilities here are second to non the spa is also well worth the money my partner & I had the package of facial, manicure & pedicure for about £70 and it was worth every penny. The staff really do make this hotel, from the cleaners to the bar staff to waiters each & everyone was so polite & nothing was too much trouble for them. I really cant complain about anything except the entertainment which in my eyes was a little like "butlins" for our liking but the kids seemed to love it, we spent most nights out in the town which is only a 5 minute walk. There is a "adults only" pool which was fantastic, Sammy the bar tender was awesome so so nice, we were here each day, in a morning they bring you ice told flannels & crush ice pineapple & mint cocktails which was a lovely touch. The restaurant manager & hotel managers were always coming over to say hello & ask how everything is which was also nice as the managers are usually tucked away but they were all so inter active with the clients & asking you for any opinions you may have on the hotel. I read some bad reviews about the food, and I have to say this is not justified, the food was lovely and the Indian, Italian & oriental were tasty & full of variety.... all in all we LOVED this place and we will be returning next summer.... THANK YOU for making our summer holiday one to remember ..... the only thing I can sya to all the English is be prepared for LOTS of Russians, they can be quite ignorant & the fact MOST of them take food from the restaurant which for us English is annoying but if you can turn a blind eye to them you will have a great time

I would recommend this to anyone its such a wonderful hotel with fantastic staff & management alike

Room Tip: Just ask for upgrades we received one no problem upon arrival

I've been in this hotel with my friends and we were happy to choose this hotel. I've been before in many hotels in Sharm, so I'm tourist with experience. In comparison price - quality this hotel is one of the most suitable for good rest. There are a lot of pluses: food was really good, everything was fresh and tasty, alcohol also was not bad, especially for Egyptian all inclusive; beautiful territory and nice rooms, simple, but clean; wonderful animation: Moka- chief animation- is so friendly, funny, cute, real professional, Hima- dance instructor- with him dance sport was very interesting and funny, Katya- she is kids animator, we kept in touch with another company who came with children and they always left them with Katya, she is very kind. But there were also minuses: the staff, especially barmen and guest relation were not friendly to us and we had problems with key from our room. Overall, impression was nice. I can advise this hotels both for young companies and families.

It was first time for us to visit Egypt. We have heard and read about cleanliness and service quality there, and to be frank, most of these comments where not positive. But we still desided to "try" Egypt and we choose Sunrise Select Diamond Beach Resort because of it´s good reviews here on tripadvisor.com site.
So,briefly:
- really friendly and attentive service
- cleanleness of rooms was ok and housekeepers are fiendly and respectful
- food is enjojable and with a good variety for different tastes, especially chef`s Emad specials
- hotel territory is clean, green and offers both: uproarabaudance by the main pool or quiet escape by family or adult pool
- good location (house reef, airport 18km, Nama Bay 7km etc.)

I went there with my family (husband and 2,5 years old daughter) and a friend, and we all were positivly surprised. Especially my husband, as he is cleanliness "freak" :-D
We are really planning to visit this hotel again and wish for Sunrise team all the best.
Thank you!
