“Amazing hotel!! Couldn't ask for more!!”
Reviewed 14 August 2010

We came to Shark's Bay for a nine day holiday and were not left disappointed!!!

We were staying in a Bedouin Village room-it was very clean, nicely decorated, excellent AC and the view from the balcony was superb!

Breakfast was good everyday, with a good range of food and very friendly waiters!

The hotel is right on the beach and it was always possible to get a sunbed. The snorkelling was absolutely awesome!!! The diving was also amazing-big thanks to the friendly staff, especially Mona and Alex!!!

The evening meals are very reasonably priced and there is quite a wide range of food.

Even though the hotel is only a taxi ride away from Na'ama Bay, it feels
like a world away-very relaxing and tranquil!

The reception staff were also amazing-they even arranged for someone to go to the bus station and book our coach to Cairo for us to save us the hassle!

We had a great holiday-hope to come back sometime soon!!

We arrived here a day early, but the reception staff were already expecting us and made us feel very welcome. The staff at the diving centre made us feel even more welcome!!! We loved every second of our stay here. We couldn't have asked for more. Fantastic diving and snorkeling with amazing people!!!
We stayed in one of the beach cabins, which were small but clean and had airconditioning. Breakfast is also included. The breakfasts are GREAT (especially the pancakes!) - lots of lovely dishes to choose from. Just what you need to start a busy day of diving and snorkeling. We can't wait to go back!!!!

After spending a week in the desert, I had almost given up on seeing water again! Shark's Bay was a great find, and we had a wonderful time. Even though we aren't divers there was plenty for us to do. We booked a snorkeling trip as well as a ride on the glass bottom boat. Breakfast was a nice bonus as well.

We stayed in the beach cabins and there were very quiet, no mosquito and clean. You have a restaurant not very expensive but you can arrange full board if you want. The beach is very beautiful and you ca see a lot of fish without doing any trip!

Have stayed here a couple of times, in the Bedouin rooms on the hillside. Lots of character and it feels very peaceful, not at all like the 'resort' feel of Sharm.

Positives: rooms are quirky and have great views; friendly staff; nice relaxed beach bar / shisha area; direct access to snorkeling / diving; shop on site has been added and is fairly priced.

However: no hot water in room this visit - was fine last year so I guess it's erratic; food in restaurant is basic (fine for one night but we needed to go elsewhere for variety) and the hotel is a taxi ride away from the main strip - no bad thing but be aware of this when you book as it will add to your costs if on a budget.

We spent a diving week in shark's bay. We wanted to see the reefs around Sharm but without the crowd and the "busy business" of naama bay, so we decided to go to sharks bay and it was a good choice.
The location is very good for a relaxing holiday: the beach is busy (but not too much) during the day, but in the evening there are very few people and all the restaurants and beduin cafes are quiet. On the beach you'll find 5 shops 3 restaurants 2 beduin cafe', 2 bar and 2 markets; they are all open until 10:00 pm and the atmosphere is relaxing (people is not pushing you in the shops like in naama bay).
The location is good for diving too: the jetty is owned by umbi, their boat is already there when you arrive and you don't have to wait for the boat on the jetty. The reef close to Tirana island are very close and nearly as good as ras mohamed! In case of strong wind you can dive in the house reef which is not bad at all. The rooms are clean and silent, and the staff is friendly. If you want a more "wild" place on the red sea you'll have to go to Marsa Alam, but then, (apart from elphistone), you'll not find reefs as nice as Ras Mohamed and Jakson reef.

We loved this hotel! It was right on the beach and just lovely. We made all our reservations and arrangements before we left and were very pleased that they kept in communication with us. We made most of the arrangements for our tours this way so that we could guarantee that we could go on the tours we wanted. As we neared our arrival to Egypt there was a problem with a Petra tour that we wanted to go on but they managed to find another Petra tour for us by the time we arrived. They also e-mailed us a map of the area showing how to reach the hotel in case we had troubles with local cab drivers. This turned out to be very useful. When we arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh the cab driver was trying to take us to the Sheraton Hotel on Shark's Bay which is quite a distance away from Sharks Bay Umbi Diving Village. The driver didn't understand English very well but once we showed him the map he was able to take us to the correct place.

We had a Bedouin Village room and it was very nice. Our only complaint was that the food wasn't the best. Still, we had an overall great experience.
