The best thing about this Citadel, is it's stunning location! right in the middle of the red sea, on a small mountain. when you go around it by boat, you'll find it fascinating , and you'll think how did Salah el Din manage to build it there and even think about that place.
Definitely worth the visit, thought i have to be honest with you, nothing much to see inside, just the fortress itself.
The diving there though is breathtaking , as well as the snorkeling, so enjoy that one ;)

We only went on a boat trip to visit the reefs here, not the Island & castle itself. Sadly, the reefs look damaged and even dead in some areas from the multiple boat trips there every day - I think the area could do with less trips to give it time to recover.

We paid 30 euros a head for a 45 tour of the castle. It's completely restored but it's the only thing, apart from the diving, to do / see in Taba. You get a short ride to the island in the deal. You can climb on the ramparts but there are no rails, big drops, so people with small kids should be wary.
