we arrived late in the evening to a welcome drink and a very speedy check in, we stayed in Block 2 and we had a wonderful room with views over the sea and looking across to Saudi,, the room had an enormous bed and the shower was superb. The cleanliness of the room and the whole hotel was superb. The food that we had was good and the choice of deserts was well worth a visit. It was really hot whilst we were there but there were plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas both on the beach and round the pool no matter what time you went. We sat round the quiet pool which was really relaxing and just a short hop to the beach. We visited Jerusalem whilst we were there which although it was a long day it was lovely and included a swim in the Red Sea, which was quite something. I would recommend this holiday to anyone wishing for a quiet relaxing break in the sun, the hotel staff are some of the best staff that I have come across, especially in the restaurant. We will certainly return.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

Just returned from this lovely hotel. Everything as just perfect for us. Hotel staff superb, food just right, different themes every night. Drinks OK although the Beer would not be described Beer in the UK - more a shandy! But the local wines and spirits were fine.
The Peaceful pool was just right for us - and this is where we spent the majority of our time.
We just wanted a place to chill out for a week and The Sofitel was perfect.

My boyfriend and I just came from the Sofitel and we had a really relaxing time.
Before departure I emailed the hotel requesting to have a double bed rather than twin beds and I also requested to have a cake made for my boyfriend 30th birthday. I received a reply after 3 minutes with both my requests acknowledge and happy to meet my request. I did however made a mistake by not asking to have a sea view room, however our room (3332), was really nice and we could still view the sea from our balcony, so not a major problem at all.

The room was very big and spotless clean every day, so thanks again to the young man who was responsible for cleaning our room. we also had 2 bottles of water in the fridge everyday, as it was included in the all inclusive.

The weather was just perfect, hot and sunny but with breeze. The beach was lovely and there plenty of empty sun loungers, so not need to wake up at stupid time. You cannot leave your towel to reserve spaces overnight as the maintenance team goes around in the evening and collects all the towel, if you do leave it, your towel will be taken away and you will need to pay 100 L.E. per towel (£9.00), the same applies for your towel card, if you lose it will have to pay 100 L.E.

The restaurant was big and it has tables both inside and outside. There is a big choice of food in quantity, but I am afraid the quality is not up to the standard with the rest of the hotel services. I would like to clarify that this is only my opinion.
Everyday the same ingredients would be used, for example beef, chicken and same type of fish, the only thing that would change would be the sauce used to cook it with. This is my 10th times in Egypt and I had better food in a 4star hotel if I have to be honest. However I also understand that the hotel welcomes clients from Britain, Russia, France etc and therefore a more international menu needs to be created.

The staff working at the restaurant were always friendly and pleasant even to some rude customers who did not show any sign of respect to these guys who work 10 hours a day!

The Bedouin tent at the hotel's beach is lovely in the evening/night, we had shisha there for only 25 L.E. (£2.80 circa) and the guy tops it up for free!

My boyfriend and I did 2 excursions, the VIP Red Sea Cruise, which I have booked in England and the second one was the dirty buggies in the Canyon.
The V.I.P was nice, however do not expect to see many fishes. If you are into snorkelling, you should visit Ras Mohammed Park in Sharm. The dirty buggies was so much fun. We drove a rally car (sort of) in the desert and between canyons. we had a guide just for ourself . We stopped at a beduin tent, where we were offered shisha, a cold drink and also local tea. The driving experience lasted around 2 hour but make sure you have sun lotion with as well as sunglasses as it gets very dusty and dirty!

Overall we had a great time at the Sofitel and I would recommend this hotel.

This was our second visit. The room was sooo comfortable, with fresh fruit everyday, bathrobes, slippers, and an amazing guy who cleaned our room and looked after us.The staff in the restaurant were funny, kind and always helpful. The food was good and the service second to none. The weather was just right, the pools were just right and I wish we were back there right now. We are hoping to be able to return to celebrate Christmas with them this year.

We have just returned from the Sofitel having spent a week booked through Thomson Holidays, we visisted the same time last year and were so impressed we decided it would be perfect for a mid year week away, didnt post a review last time but as I use trip advisor so much to chose my own holidays thought it only right I should share our experiences.
The hotel has changed a bit in the last year but nothing major, I emailed the hotel before arrival requesting a room in block 1 overlooking the main pool as we found that last year in block 2 it was a bit of a trek in the searing heat, the hotel responded and obliged us with our request, a beautiful 4th floor room (1406) spectacular views over to Saudi and Jordan and complimentary tea & coffee service as returning guests, absolutely huge bed which is super comfortable, lovely bathroom walk in shower with excellent powerful shower and all important air con, the temperatures topped 47 during our stay and the room was always cool no problems sleeping, quite the opposite!!
The room was serviced daily by Halal, this lad works his socks off all day and our room was cleaned , water, tea and coffee replenished by mid morning each day ensuring lovely cold water in the fridge on our return from the beach, with extra water for the kettle too.
The facilities are great with a salt water pool , 2 fresh water pools and 2 jacuzzis, one of these is up on an island in the main pool away from the busy areas to retreat to for complete peace & quiet, but with plenty of parasols and sunbeds to go round there was no need to get up at silly o'clock saving sunbeds but people still do it, rather funny to watch from our balcony first thing in the morning, and have to say its the British that are the worst culprits!!
The main restaurant offers a buffet service, this hotel attracts many nationalities and offers something for everyone, other reviews mention the food being a bit "samey" and I would agree with that to a degree but you can always find something to eat, the fresh crusty bread is amazing, the egg stations in the morning offering fried, poached or omelettes cooked for you are spot on and the lunch and dinner services offer a wide choice with an abundance of fresh salads, fruits and pastries and desserts that only a really fussy eater would turn their nose up at, they wash salads and fruit in bottled water and ice cubes are made with this too so no concerns with what not to eat.
We would spend most evenings in the outside eating area looked after by Assad, this young man learned very quickly who drank what and took great care of us not in search of a tip I would add but because he really wanted the guests to have a good experience.
Sadly some people turn into monsters on holiday being rude and obnoxious to staff, manners cost nothing and no these were not always Russians but the Brits again....

The beach has plenty of sunbeds and parasols offering welcome shade from the searing heat, there are water stations around the pool and along the beach and would recommend beach shoes for going into the sea as it is quite rocky.
One thing we have noticed on our return visit is the poor state of the reefs they have deteriorated in the 12 months since our last visit, idiots walking and standing on the corals despite numerous polite reminders in every possible language pointing out how precious it is but some people simple have no respect, the recreaction guys would blow their whistles furiously to try to stop them if they saw this going on but sadly the damage is done.
The Sofitel has a jetty but we found as have others that the Hyatt jetty offers better snorkelling its a 10 minute walk along the footbath adjacent to the beach but well worth it.
The evening entertainment is very low key, which is perfect if you a looking for a total chill out, if like us you cant be doing with the chavvy goings on in places like Sharm this is ideal, but you still hear people moaning that they are bored and didn't realise it was so quiet thought would be like Sharm bla bla bla, but to be honest the hotel seems to attract more couples than families with small children and the balance seems just right.

Unfortunately Taba airport has not changed and is without doubt the worst airport experience you could imagine, but its so bad that its funny, they hustle you to tip them to get your own suitcases just ignore it and don't get conned into paying a £1 to use the loo, they will confiscate all bottles of water as you enter the airport to go home its funny as you then see them sharing out the unopened ones amonst the staff!! They snatch your passport to stamp it, and the security staff mumble and grunt at you, quite an experience.Local law prevents the tour reps into the airport so on arrival you meet your rep outside and the same for departures they are present but never inside the airport itself.

All in all a wonderful week away, made some great new friends, the hotel is operating at well below capacity due to the nervouseness of some nationalities because of the recent troubles, but this has not affected the service you get, we would recommend it to anyone, the staff, facilities and service are great, you are perfectly safe with ever present security and would chose the Sofitel in Taba over any resort Sharm any day of the week.

Room Tip: Block 1 high floor

Just come back from spending two weeks at Sofitel. Lovely clean hotel, service very good, The staff are all so welcoming, and helpful, it was good to be treated wiith respect, and they got all the respect we could give them back. Food very good, always a good choice, and very tasty. Someone writing a review mentioned kids running around in the dining rooms, whilst people are eating, some parents think its fun to watch their offspring doing this, Brits included, its isn,t, its dangerous, hope you read this, you know who you are. Very clean swimming pools, in fact everything was spot on, and would tell anyone going to Taba to stay there. Our room man was always helpful, we stayed in room 3115, so thanks a lot, hes off to Cairo to see his new son, if managment reads this, please give him our best wishes when he gets back, sorry his name eludes me. nice man. A special thank you to Karen our tour rep, she did her best to get us on the Petra trip, as there were a few problems, but she managed it in the end, cheers Karen. Will go back sometime in the future without hesitation, just a pity people are not going in the numbers they were, they need tourists, and its safe in Taba so give it a go at the Sofitel.

Returned from two weeks at the Sofitel a few days ago and wish we were back there already.Trouble free check in, lovely rooms with lots of space and a beautiful view as well..the staff are all friendly and work very hard, nothing is too much trouble. Deborah, our Thomson rep had a welcome meeting which was also attended by the hotel manager and some of his team, she gave us lots of useful information. She also had a farewell meeting followed by cocktails which again was attended by the hotel management who were kean to hear our views before we left, a nice touch we thought. The hotel is as clean as a whistle, they never seem to stop cleaning all hours of the day, even the beach and pool area are kept tiptop, there is also cold and hot water dispensers at various points on the beach too, which is much appreciated in those temperatures. The drinks are good, and the food is better some nights than others but you would always find something to your liking, and also it is hot because they don't put out large amount and so it is replenished frequently. They have an aisian restaurant which we visited on one occassion, the food was very good and we had a really nice bottle of red wine for 400egyptian pounds (£40) and you can watch the chef cook your food; the other restaurant frequently used is the Mediteranean which comes as part of your all inclusive, its al la carte and you get a choice of four main courses which has to be ordered and booked the day before, you can also order your wine if you wish, if not just have the wine served in the main dining room as part of your AI.
Entertainment is mainly dancers but some nights they have a variety show in the Lotus bar which is a bit of fun for the most part.
The hotel does try and vary things, as there is not a lot going on in Taba Heights but all in all they offer guests a good time and l would go back without hesitation.

Room Tip: All the rooms are of a good standard
