“Fantastic”
Reviewed 2 August 2012

Visited this superb hotel on July 3rd for 2 weeks, having visited the Baron Resort in shark last year and rated that the best hotel I've visited this hotel was on a par, fantastic setting and location. Very fast check in and quickly shown to our rooms. We were very lucky to be in block 3 rooms 3111 & 3110 both rooms very fantastic, massive beds, large bathroom, rooms cleaned every day with ckean towels every day. Rooms opened onto the quiet pool which is mainly adults reading and chilling out, weather was very hot 45 - 47 every day. Food good a little boring the second week , plenty of choice. Beach and pools amazing views from the tower WOW. Only negatives reference this hotel would be the all inclusive drinks finishing at 11. When the bar stayed open until 1. And the only other option to dine was to pay for a meal in the Asian restaurant within the hotel however you also had to pay for your drinks. more table service would impress and knowing guests birthdays (details filled in on arrival forms). The difference between this hotel and the Baron is the Baron do the special things better. Very much enjoyed our stay.I would recomend this hotel to anyone wanting to chill out in fantastic settings with staff you can't do enough for you and are so friendly.

In July 12 it was my 5th time stay at the hotel, i stayed in all the hotels at Taba heights area, except the Club Med, this is the only hotel out of all, i will always come back to, most important thing is to see improvement each time you go back , with the great manager they have Mr. Jules-Henri Edouard, i think the hotel imporved that last time i stayed there over a year & half ago, they added tea & coffee facility to the room, an iron board , food is much better quality & variety, beach bar was added, the only thing which is must be improved entertainment at night, they used to have a wonderul entertainment team, working all day, but due to the current situation, i guess they have just one hour entertainment event at night -
the hotel has 3 buildings - building 1 is called Plaza - more aminities like cookies or fruite basket is added in this section daily it is a pool & sea view
Building 2 sea front view , building 3 sea side view and rooms are different design more and it has its own pool - it has 4 floors - ground & 3 floors ( some ground are family rooms with 2 bed rooms )
I prefer building 2 - the sea view there watching sunrise is very romantic
make sure you pack a pans - no shorts dinner time A/I is good there, breakfast served at the main restaurant from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m then lunch you can enjoy it around the pool with pizza-salad- or different sandwiches or buffet in the main restaurant - dinner main resturant 6:30 - 10:30 PM - local wine is served just in the main restaurant during lunch & dinner , they have Sultana bar at sunset it is nice to sit in its terrace and enjoy a cup of tea, in the evenig i think they have too much light in it, when it turns into disco they must dim the lights more & put dancing music, so clients can party at night they hotel has around the pool area - open air jacuzzi , they have also a spa againist a charge and wonderful GYM - they a football ground , tennis courst as wel , overall i think you must go to this hotel, it is one of the best in Egypt not just in Sinai

Room Tip: if you enjoy sea view - building 2 is great- quite building 3 - pool & sea view the palza room b...

We travelled as family in a party of 3 couples, July 3rd to 17th .Prior to going I eMailed the hotel to request rooms close by and got what we asked for upon check in, a perfect start. We were in block 3 by the quiet pool which was perfect for us to enjoy a chillout holiday. The rooms where great and the staff where among the best I have experienced, they couldn't do enough for you but did it in a way that showed a genuine quality and interest in you having a good time, and not one to meet with justCompany policy! I must mention REDA, ISLAM, RAJAE, HEND, MOHAMMED, WALID, SINDEL, AHMED (housekeeping) but all staff were great and the overall management team who clearly work hard to be a success. I have been to Egypt before and have been ill, here I was absolutely fine, I ate salad, fruit, and had iced drinks with no problem at all, as was the case with rest of our party, I would definitely return . I read many reviews before going but this place is a good as the reviews say

We had 2 weeks at the sofitel travelling with 2 adults and 3 children aged 15,12, and 10.This is a great place to chill out as although various people will approach you for various things (quad biking, beauty treatments etc) a polite no and they will leave you alone. If you are looking for a lively place this is not for you.Our children however did not get bored with there being 3 large pools, table tennis and tennis courts..The snorkeling off the jetty or the beach is one of the highlights for any holidaymaker as even the novice snorkeler can swim in some shallow water and see plenty of beautiful coloured fish .Nice to able to say that we experienced no long queues for the restaurant (hotel just over half full) which unfortunately had been experienced on previous holidays. Finally take the trip to Jerusalem it is brilliant and will blow you away with its architecture and sights even if you are not religous.(approx cost £150 p/p. you have to pay £20 p/p border tax from Israel and 75 egyptian pounds (approx £7-50) on re-entry to Egypt but well worth it

We travelled from July 24 to July 31, booking with First Choice - i will start with the bad then finish with the good....

Bad - The flight.

Although this has nothing to do with the hotel, the flight was terrible. Cramped seats (i had to sit at an angle with my legs in front of the seat next to me due to no legroom) which is made even worse when the seat in front of you is reclined. This coupled with no IFE left a sour taste in the mouth and would make me think twice about travelling distance again with Thomson airlines.

There was no food of sorts to speak of, only cheap microwavable chips and pizza at £3.90 each (with the odd sandwich thrown in), but not value for money.... Save your cash and buy sandwich meal deals from Boots before you board.

For the return flight, i was annoyed that the plane lights were left on so long when it was clear most people wanted to sleep - we landed at 1am and still had a 3 hour drive home, so needed to get some shut eye - however, the lights on and the plane announcments meant that this was difficult.

Note: You can buy sandwiches and drinks at Taba airport for the way home, but we feasted in the hotel before the coach came, so didnt really need to eat on the plane back.

Good - Everything else.

On arrival (10pm) at the hotel, we were greated by staff who efficiently offloaded the suitcases, sent us to reception, gave us a welcome drink, fitted wristbands and checked us in. We were sent to dinner and then we came back to identify the luggage before heading to the room - cases came 5 mins later.

The room was spotless (we were block 3 ... 3319) it was big with a queen bed and seating area, balcony with 2 chairs and table and bathroom with walk in shower, tea/coffee facilities and mini-fridge.

I wont go on saying everything as other reviews are quite comprehensive, but the food was good with a decent choice, the staff were all excellent and friendly (i was challenged more than once to a game of table football when collecting pool towels) ... and everyone had a smile on their face.

The attention to detail was good, with cleaners and maintenance men on hand if required.

We had a welcome meeting where the key members of staff were introduced and it was made clear that all the staff wished our vacation was good.

Other points to mention:

Food - We ate in both the general buffet and the adults only buffet, both had the same food, but one was calmer than the other. The waiters were attentive and never did we have to ask for another drink.

Drinks - The all-inclusive starts at 11am and finishes at 11pm, but water is available from dispensers 24 hours. Personally, i would have liked the bars to open from 10am as it was damn hot outside (mid 40's)

We did Petra - 03.15am start and back at 10pm, but it was worth the long day. Although the temperature was very hot to walk around the site (take alot of water and dont take very young kids)

Pools - All clean and inviting, loved them, pool towels are one per day.

Sea and Coral - We snorkelled and loved it, the fish kep coming right up to our goggles to see us - it was so clear and amazing. We saw sargeant major fish, hawkfish, butterfly fish and Klunzingers wrasse amoungst others.

Antinal is the best drug ever. (we got the Egyptian belly and saw many people buying the same tablets) but this drug bunged you up after 1 tablet - NOTE: Boots own brand and Immodium did NOT work at all..... These drugs from the pharmacy were 10 EPounds (1 english pound) for 24 tablets and were a life saver (taken just before Petra excursion).

On our last evening, we were invited for a cocktail with the manager and key members of staff to give feedback. This was nice and personal touch. I expressed disapointment at not being able to try the oriential evening due to our excursion and didnt think anymore of it.... Then later that evening the food and drink manager found us and told us to come to see him at 1pm on our last day before the coach and the chef would cook us a special oriental meal to make up for us missing the oriental night ..... Well, WOW ... what a feast we had with meat kebabs, pork kebabs, chicken, steak, rice, lamb chops, flatbreads, houmous, salads, dips etc........... A very nice surprise and we were very impressed at the personal attention (see photo)

During our stay we spoke to the Manager of the hotel no less than 5 times - always wanting to know if we were well and having a nice time.....

All in all a very relaxing holiday, i would have no problems recommending this hotel to anyone and we would consider returning - the only downside is the really bad flight from Thomsons (and the times of the flights).

Keep it up !!!

Room Tip: We had block 3 which was very quiet, but still only 10-15 mins walk to the beach.

My fiancé and I spent one week at the Sofitel in June and had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. It's a great location for a romantic couples' retreat - the hotel was extremely quiet; the beach empty; and the hotel has effectively separated a quiet, relaxing pool from the larger sport, music and family pools so that all desires are catered for. The staff were brilliant - extremely friendly and always willing to help. Our bedroom was huge, clean and had wonderful balcony views which I would recommend upgrading to.

I have travelled to many parts of Egypt and would recommend Taba Heights over Sharm or Hurghada in terms of snorkelling. The jetty from both the Sofitel and Hyatt next door provide access directly into some beautiful and varied reefs and we were able to see a great deal of sea life, including a sea turtle. We met a lovely lady who told us that she enjoyed getting up with the sunrise (at 4am!) to witness this along a deserted beach. We followed her advise one day and I now cannot recommend doing this strongly enough. The VIP Cruise excursion is also a must.

There were only a couple of things I'd have changed in order to give this a 5 star rating. There was a huge range of food in order to cater for all tastes but the quality (as you'd probably expect from an all-inclusive buffet in all fairness) could have been better. It was often clear what hadn't been quite as popular the night before as it would reappear the following night in a slightly different format. Despite our best efforts to avoid all salad and water / ice, we both suffered from upset stomachs from the third day onwards and I also spent a day in the room with sickness. The staff were great though - as soon as my fiance appeared at dinner without me, they asked where I was and couldn't do enough to resolve the situation, insisting on sending food or a doctor to the room. Of course, this may just have been a result of our weak English tummies, but I must admit it would make me hesitant to return...

My other complaint would have to be the truly awful evening 'entertainment'. Again, it's probably not unusual to find tuneless 'singers' crooning to a Barry White backing track on this type of holiday, but the music was so ridiculously loud that we just couldn't escape it. We were keen to relax in the bedouin sheesha tent on the beach after dinner, but the noise was so unbearable that we had to return to our room - even the balcony was off-limits.

Other than that, we really did have a wonderful time and couldn't fault the location, weather, snorkelling or staff.

Room Tip: Balcony / sea view room recommended

We had 2 Weeks at the Sofitel betewwn the 10th and 25th July , wonderful hotel really quite when we were there. If you want a chill out holiday this is the place , if you want lively entertainment and shops go to Sharm.

We like Taba heights as it is so quite , the Sofitel is the better os the hotels there( this comment excludes the new Club Med).
Staff are great food good for all inclusive, room great . we would definatly go again

Room Tip: Block 3 has a pool next to it , we stayed there lovely room would choose that block again as it is v...
