“Lovely hotel in a beautiful location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2010

We went for a relaxing beach break in June 2010 and found that this hotel surpassed our expectations. The weather was beautiful - hot and sunny with a lovely breeze for much of the time.

The location was wonderful - right on the edge of a beautiful beach, where the sea was really warm and shallow. The backdrop of the Sinai mountains was stunning. The water in the pool was lovely and warm too.

The staff could not do enough for the guests. The food quality was very high - very varied and tasty. Our waiter remember our drinks order every night without us having to ask.

The only down side, if any, was that there was no-where to really walk to in the evening. However, there is a 'taff taff' bus which takes you to some local shops/restaurants if you want to venture out. We did a day trip to Jerusalem, which was an amazing experience - highly recommend it!

We will definately be returning, hopefully with a group of friends next time to share the wonderful experience.

Just got back from a 2 week stay at Sofitel Taba Heights with my husband and our 2 friends. We stayed there as tripadvisor showed it to be the best hotel there, they are not wrong. It is right on the beach and we didn't even use the 6 pools that are available. Our room overlooked the quiet pool in block 3 which was very quiet and the room was lovely and kept spotlessly clean everyday. The beach had numerous sunbeds with parasols and wind breaks for everyone. You were always guaranteed a sunbed no rushing first thing to make sure.

The restaurants were very good and the head chef, Wahid, couldnt do enough to please. He asked our opinion of the food and if there was anything we would like on the menu. My friend asked for baklava and it was in the restaurant that evening, he also had some sent up to our rooms. When it was time to go home he even made us a box of desserts to take with us.

We went into Wakela and had a dinner in the Flying Carpet, yummy steaks in there. The free bus to the shops was good and the supermarket there is much cheaper than the hotel shop. Go there for your snorkels/beach shoes and any souvenirs.

All the staff were very happy and friendly and would go out of their way to make your stay the best they could. Special mention to Big Mo, Christiano Mo, Little Mo at the towel/poolside (they were all called Mohamed), the best barman in Egypt (photo attached), our waiter in the quiet restaurant who always remembered what drinks we liked, Wahid of course and Mohamed at the water sports place - they are all lovely!!

We intended to visit Petra while we was there and did this via the taxi service situated in hotel reception. They were very prompt and efficient and a little bit cheaper than the rep. When we booked for Jerusalem we did that with the rep, (Craig, who was very good), as the local taxi couldnt do it cheaper for us and he told us this. Both trips are very worthwhile doing, swimming in the Dead Sea was amazing. The security at the Isreali border can take up to 2 hours to get through and i was speaking with a Slovakian man who said 'they give you a real dusting down'. They took his camera apart, etc. When we went we just cruised through, not sure if it was because we were all from UK or not!

My husband played the golf course out there and said it was the best one he has played on, he enjoyed it immensely.

Not much to say about a down side to anything unless you dont like Eastern Europeans (Russians, Slovakians, Germans, etc), there were quite a few here, lots of French people too. Some stripped off completely on the beach (men & women) it is not a nudist beach and is a Muslim country so is inappropriate. You also found that some of them decided it was OK to walk on the coral - IT IS NOT. One of the reasons for it dying out!! The pool boys did their best to patrol and enforce this and if you are found going home with any coral or shells you can be fined £500.

Enjoy!!

Have just returned from the Sofitel, after having a wonderful two week break. Start with the rooms, we were in block 3 top floor, as requested. From here we had a view of the quite pool, however we had the pleasure of being able to see Saudi Arabia, and of course the sea. The room was excellent along with the bathroom. May we add that that it was kept spotless by the room boy. Only one small criticism, there was no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. This could be requested at an extra charge.

The hotel staff were always very helpful nothing was too much trouble, the boys on the beach Osama and Mohammed x 2 need a special mention for their politeness and helpfulness. Re the beach very clean plenty of beds, cold water stations on the beach were a life saver. You will need beach shoes as the approach into the sea does have a couple of yards of stones, once past that though all is sandy. Need to mention please do not walk on the coral, again this is sign posted in all languages but some people chose to ignore this. Again thanks to the boys on the beach who dealt with these people promptly.

Food I did read mixed reviews but we found that there was a good selection, all well cooked and prepared, Catering for all nationalities. Would like to add if you do have any special requests see the head chef Wahid and he will do his best to accommodate you. I asked for a particular cake and much to my surprise we had a selection sent to our rooms. You will see him around asking guests questions ensuring everything is ok. The waiters again were all brilliant and they soon get to remember your tipple.
Trips- we did the trip to Petra although a long day well worth if, wear sensible shoes. Jerusalem again a long day but a fantastic experience. Although we are not golfers our friends played the course and said that it was excellent, the Tee’s being better than most greens in the UK.

We would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone and cannot understand some of the, what we think is unfair criticism that some people have posted. At the end of the day you are in Egypt it is HOT and do not expect English food, when Egyptians come to the UK we do not serve them Egyptian food. We are guests in their country so respect their culture. Enjoy !!

All in all a fantastic holiday, again all the staff at the hotel were brilliant and again special thanks to Chef Wahid for the cakes.

Me and my partner travelled with Thompson/first choice, first time to Egypt, and taba heights was definatly the right place for your first time.. Tour reps and staff were excellent at their job, especially craig our tour rep. Hotel is gorgeous, marble floors, big features, loads of sun loungers, always activites in the day time by the main pool, volly ball, aqua arobics, water basketball, belly dancing, there is also a quiet pool which is very very relaxing, tip: if you want a sun lounger, get up at no later that 8 o clock, because if you go down at 9ish, all the loungers have towels on them and your stuck for most of the day, so grab them early in morning. Staff are always there to help, and you are very safe in taba heights the security is very very high, so it is ideal for your first trip to Egypt. Hotel seems to be the best one in the area, we had a look around some of the others, and the Sofitel definatly stands out. We walked down to the Hyatt which is amazing for snorkelling, i would reccommend going to their jetty instead of the Sofitel's. I'd like to point out that the food is not horrible, and im sure the people that say it made them ill are mistakend, we met a few couple which had icky tummys and they said its the weather, if you drink plenty of water you will be fine-we were, and we eat everything going in the resturaunt! There are a number of water despensers around the pool sides which are handy too fill up your water bottles, which you get 2 free bottles a day in your room. This helps too keep you hydrated as u can top them up all the time. The location is very quiet, taba heights is made up of hotels, theres no other resturaunts in walking distance, no pubs or party's so it really is a resort for relaxing. If you want sun sea sand, sun loungers, hot weather (42 in shade) and do nothing, this is definatly the resort and hotel for you. Rooms are lovely, we were in the new block 3, flat screen tv, walk in shower, massive king size bed, good size balcony. Over all the location is very relaxing and quiet, staff are very welcoming and friendly, hotel is grand, big and spectacular. Strongly recommend this hotel, and we will definatly be returning!

We were delighted with the Sofitel Taba Heights and stayed for one week. Although it was 45 degrees, the desert is striking and this is definitely a destination you go to if you want a complete break and rest. We were wondering how an all-inclusive holiday was going to really be as we've never done one, but we were pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the food offerings that are changed every meal, every day and were absolutely delicious, plentiful and food served from morning until night. The room was outstanding with a Red Sea view that is impossible to top. World Cup football was playing in the bar and on a large flat screen outdoors at night, good atmosphere. The best however, is the 5* service standard with the staff. They were incredible, each and every single one we interacted with. The General Manager has done his job well and each person goes beyond beyond the call of duty to make you welcome, looked after at all times. I've never had this in any hotel I've stayed in and I work in the industry. Other resorts in Taba we visited, they were all nice but Sofitel was 100% full and the others were empty. Fantastic place, will return when it's cooler so we can enjoy more snorkeling and some excursions. Value for money, great deal. Booked through Peltours, they also were super organised and gave great service. Will definitely go back.

We visited the sofitel for two weeks on the 15th June this year. There's not one bad word I can say about this hotel. Food was amazing and a great variety. The staff were friendly, helpful and very approachable. The rooms were very large and modern. The location was beautiful. On the beach you can walk straight out into the sea or from the pier. Fish were amazing and loads of people were snorkelling. We did have the Egyptian stomach, but this was easily rectified in a day after taking antibiotics from the pharmacy. It did peak to over 50 degrees while we were there, but we kept swimming in the sea and soon cooled down. :0)
would definitely recommend to family and friends.

My wife and I stayed at the Sofitel for our 30th Wedding anniversary at the begining of June AND HAD A WONDERFUL holiday.
Can I just make one clear point, TheSofitel is a very good Four Star hotel, the staff are excellent and the location is fantastic. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are all of a very good standard along with the pools and the bars.
Main Points.
Get a room in block One or Two, Block Three is behind block Two. Very little view if any.
Get a top floor room, sea view, they are worth the extra.
The staff are a credit to the management and Sofitel name, especially Radar in the Lotus bar,I have to mention Mohamad Hamady the front desk manager, thanks for the cake, we really appreciated it, your a star.
The food, well not all bad as other people have said, yes it can get boring and they do NOT cater for the Simply British palate but this is Egypt not Spain but all in all it was fine.
People refer to a Parohs revenge, I think this term is an insult to the Sofitel and its catering team, its not the food but the general heat and change in the water especially the Sea as its incredably salty.
A quick visit to the pharmacy and £3.50 puts it right without lasting longer than a day or two.

Our only constructive comments would be that for the plain fussy eaters like me it would have been good to have Potatoes not in a curry type of coating and more than once a week.

Secondly You Sofitel have to sort you wine policy out, only available at Luch dinner in the main restraunt is crazy when someone only drinks wine..

As to the variety of nationalities, we only encountered one fould mouthed Estern European, a lady who had a bigger vocablary than me, she was a nightmare but the staff sorted here out with the professionalism that you would expect from the Sofitel.
As for Brits abusing the staff, thank god I was not there the week other people have metioned this as I would have told them.

We meet some great people at the Sofitel especially Ranjit and his ever suprising wife of one year and for him putting up with all the things she has been up to and to Wayne and Sarah for their company, Marry her kid she is a good one, also to Christine and Edd for the Pole idea. Its working well.

A great holiday and will go back again, well done ofitel and to Bery the Manager, a great hotel well run, the staff are a credit to you and the Accor Brand.
