My husband and I are in our late 20s but quite well travelled and we can honestly say that this is the cleanest and friendliest hotel that we have ever stayed in. The staff just do not stop working and even the managers are not afraid to mingle and get stuck in.
Our room was a good size and the walk-in shower in the bathroom was lovely. We were in block 3 (garden rooms) but had a sea view. There was a good choice of food except for the lunchtime food served in the Lotus bar- wait until 1pm to dine in the restaurant where the choice and quality is much better. All salad is washed in bottled water and all ice cubes are from bottled water so no need to worry! We had a bit of 'pharoah's revenge' but it did not spoil our holiday at all and I think most people had a slight twinge of this.
The snorkelling is great and we even saw a lion fish but please do take aqua shoes and your own snorkel set. You can get aqua shoes there for about £5 from the hotel shop (it also did snorkels and masks but not sure of the price). If you turn left out of the hotel and go past the Hyatt, you can climb a very big hill (I like to say it was a mountain!!) which rewards you with a terrific view over the Taba Heights resort but you will need sensible footware- no flip flops!
We went to Petra and discovered that you could only use the port in Taba (to Jordan) if you were with a tour group. We booked the trip with First Choice before flying out and saved ourselves about £25 each. Jordan was great and our guide was very knowledgeable and amusing.
Our rep. from First Choice/Thomson, Toni, was brilliant and was resident at the hotel and we always felt there was a friendly face to assist if anything did arise. She escorted us from the airport and back again; it really was a first calss service all round!
Please do be warned that Taba airport is very tiny and very disorganised. We started queuing to get a stamp and before you knew it, there was a free for all! However, no need to rush as all coahses had to leave the aiport in convoy anway and so it didn't matter if you were last out the airport.
A wonderful hotel and we will certainly be looking to return next year.
