“A HOTEL WERE GUESTS ARE MADE TO FEEL SPECIAL”
Reviewed 25 March 2010

My husband and I have just returned from our 8th stay at this hotel and can't wait to go back again because without doubt it is one of the best in the world. There are five hotels at Taba Heights but in our opinion the Marriott is by far the best, the staff cannot do enough for you, from the minute you arrive at reception and are given a refreshing towel and welcome cold drink you are made to feel special. Since Mr Heesbeen the general manager arrived he is constantly striving to keep the hotel better than the rest. Last year he organized new beds and bedding which are so comfortable its like floating on a cloud, this year he had introduced coffee making facilities in every room, it was wonderful to be woken by the sun streaming in through the patio doors, make a drink to have either on the balcony or back in bed and admire the sea view. Another of Mr Heesbeens ideas was hammocks in the palm trees on the edge of the beach, an experience not to be missed was gently swaying in one watching the stars at night. I must mention the yound men who look after the bedrooms because nothing is too much trouble for them, every day we returned to our room we found the bed either covered in flowers and petals or the most amazing towel scultures. We have stayed at other hotels at Taba Heights but since discovering the Marriott it the one to which we shall keep returning.

After booking a last minute sun getaway with my fiancee to the Marriott Taba Heights I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on this website.

On arrival at the hotel we were given a refreshing drink and hot towel, at the check in desk we had been provided with a free sea view room upgrade which we were delighted with.

We arrived at aprrox 10.00 pm and were still in time for evening meal and were very pleased with, served until 11.30pm.

The food and service throughout the holiday was excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful at all times.

The hotel itself was immaculate, the rooms were modern and very clean.

The swimming pools were great, one side heated one a little chilly but great for cooling down when it became too hot in the sun.

The beach was within skipping distance and was peaceful and the sea very clear, we were able to walk out in shallow water to many reefs and saw some wonderful tropical fish, sting rays.
An all round wonderful experience, I would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway wih no hassles.
We will definately be going back to the Marriott at Taba but will go for 2 weeks instead of one next time!!

My girlfriend and I have recently returned from a wonderful stay at the Marriott Beach Resort, Taba Heights.

This was both our first visit to Egypt, North Africa even and, after inital concerns, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday here.

Taba airport was a bit of a shock to the system, arriving it was very windly and not that warm which made us both wonder "are we going to get a tan!" but one thing to remember when arriving at TCP is that the aiport is on top of the mountains thousands of feet up from Taba Heights, the resort so the temperature is a lot cooler than resort and a lot more windy!

It also took us a while to understand the etiquette when it came to tipping, we got off the plane, passed through security, hauled our baggage off the coveyor and to within 4 feet of the transfer bus. Once within spitting distance of the bus a man picked up our cases, moved them two feet onto the bus and demanded a tip! "For what?" was my initial thought!

The Marriott is a lovely hotel, big and expansive and although they were operating at high capacity during our stay there was never a lack of sunbeds or space, it didn't feel 'busy' at all.

Our room was slightly basic and a bit dated, the bathroom was a horrible shade of green and the wood for the door frame was bending but, after all, this is Egypt so 5 star isn't really 5 star!

The view and position of our room couldn't have been better, metres from the beach and the sea was a great place to be. To wake up in the morning, pull the curtains and see the sun shining over the Gulf of Aqaba was always a great way to start the day.

I couldn't fault the food either, hygiene appeared to be very good with plenty of staff checking the food and neither of us had any concern about eating the fruit or veg.

The price of drinks is much more expensive than we thought, a can of Pepsi was £1.50 which a small can of lager being more like £4 - £4.50 - alcohol has a 300% tax which explains the price!

Also tipping is very much expected here, even in the hotel's own restaurant despite a service charge being added to the bill automatically a cash tip is also expected.

The swimming pool, one half heated and the other half note, is a major plus for the Marriott, it is far more fun than your standard Olympic style pool and is very welcome to cool down - we stayed for a week in February and the temperature was 30 degrees every day!

Taba Heights itself is a great little community, it consists of the Marriott, Hyatt Regency, Intercontinental, Sofitel and El Wekala and a small town. All are reachable either by foot or by the resort bus the Taf Taf which is free.

We would definitely have no hesitations about recommending or returning to the Marriott or Taba Heights itself, a wonderful holiday.

I've just returned from the Marriott in Taba Heights on a half board holiday. What a fantastic hotel. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. The room was great and had a travel cot for my 11 month old. The room was clean and spacious. Sheet and towels were changed daily, room was moped and swept. The food was great, both my partner and I only eat chicken and fish, so can't comment on the other meats. We had a great meal everynight, each night have different themes in the main restaurant. We ate in the Grotto and had great chicken kebabs most days for lunch. They have a gym and a spa that is open 24 hours. It has all the equipment you need and they also had water aerobics in the pool at midday. The beach is spacious, but it is stoney to walk in the water. If you walk to the hotel next door (Intercontinental), they have sandy sections if you want to go in the sea. Most people had special shoes to walk in the water, which cost less than £10 at the gift shops in the small town. I think they are a bit more expensive in the hotel. A large section of the pool was heated, which was ideal for the baby and he went in twice a day and didn't want to come out. There are plenty of sunbeds and the hotel is very spacious. The area. Taba, is very small with a supermarket and gift shops, a few restaurants and 3 other hotels (& golf). There is a courtesy bus that takes you around, that runs every 30 mins. It's great to just go on the round trips to see the views and other hotels.

The supermarket which is 5 minutes on the free bus, sell's gifts, water, sweets, biscuits, tea etc if you find the hotel prices too expensive. The hotel is a normal 5 star hotel with five star prices, the same as in the UK, it isn't overly expensive, but if your on a budget, then go to the supermarket. There is also an off license in town and pharmacy.

If your looking for nightlife and excitement, then don't go. If you want relaxation and comfort, then this is the best place to go. We spoke to several couple whilst there who were at different hotels, but had previously stayed at the Marriott, they all said the Marriott was the best, even though it isn't the most modern hotel. I previously went in 2007 as single person and had an amazing time and much prefer it to Sharm, when I am looking for peace and tranquility.

This hotel is excellent. They have the best service I have experienced anywhere in the MIddle East. Taba Heights in an amazing resort with a lot to do. The quad rides are a must. The only drawback is the food, both at the hotel and in the resort area, can be improved upon.
