“Nice place, shame about the other guests.”

We stayed here for 2 separate nights either side of a visit to Israel. The hotel itself is stunning, great design, very generous public areas and some really quirky design features. The two pool areas were very quiet. The rooms were an adequate size with balcony overlooking the pool and sea. The bathrooms were small, water pressure in the shower (over a half bath) was variable and a hair dryer was only available for one out of the two nights. The main problem with this hotel is the influx of Russian tourists who have been driving the staff to distraction we were told. When the staff realised we were not Russian, we were treated very differently. The buffet was stripped after 20 minutes of opening on an evening and after 1 hour at breakfast. Almost every other guest stuffed a bag full of goodies and then disappeared with it. We were told that this was inevitably left strewn around the room these guests vacated. The buffet was not replenished and this was the reason for our decision to change to a B&B basis on the second night rather than 1/2 board as we had initially booked. There are other eating options available for car drivers in the area and those who wish to explore other hotels in the vicinity (up to 18km away). The hotel provided a very efficient transfer to the border and collected us on request on our return. In spite of the other guests and some of our comments so far, we would still stay here again.

If you want crowds and music bars don't come here.
If, on the other hand, you want to take a break from your hectic life in a tranquil oasis and enjoy good old fashioned hospitality, book now!
Looking for guaranteed sunshine in October we dismissed the Canary Islands and opted for Egypt.
Reading other TripAdvisor reports, the Tobya Boutique seemed ideal as it is not 'all inclusive' and attracts the independent traveller.
We booked a Monarch flight from Gatwick to Taba through Travel Republic and found the best room rates are offered by the Hotel directly from their web site - tobyaboutiquehotel.com -.Book Half Board and ask the hotel to arrange airport transfers as Taba Airport does not have car hire and we did not notice any taxis.
As described elsewhere, the hotel is an architectural delight in its own right, succesfully blending ancient Egyptian building themes into a comfortable modern resort set in artistically landscaped gardens. The owners,Nadia and her husband are artists and the interiors are filled with examples of their work - Tapestries, paintings and statues depicting Egyptian history and culture abound all over the resort. Even the tunnel under the coast road to the beach club is festooned with works of art.

We were welcomed by Nadia on arrival and upgraded to a suite overlooking the South pool and Red Sea. Throughout our stay all the staff were polite and eager to be of service. The room boys apart from keeping our room imaculately clean specialise in 'Towel Origami' Each evening we found different creations from Swans to hearts with flower petals decorating the bed. Their 'piece de resistence' was a magnificent crocodile!

Nadia was pleased to arrange for the Hotel shuttle to take us to places of interest. Castle Zamman is a must.. Its 30 mins drive down the coast and Hani the owner spent five years converting a hilltop with magnificent sea views into a medieval castle of the Roman period using traditional building techniques. It is a stunning setting with chillout jazz and classical music wafting through the rooms and pool area. You need to arrive mid morning and order lunch as it takes 3 hours to slow cook. The result are the tastiest casseroles you will ever eat.
Ask Nadia if she can arrange a desert trip involving a drive up onto the desert plateau to meet a local Bedouin who takes you on an afternoon of offroad driving and a 'fun' Wadi walk complete with beautiful rock formations, ancient wall carvings, wild Falcons ( if your lucky and observant ), the sound of the desert silence and a very independent minded camel.

The hotel food is very good, freshly cooked in spotlessly clean kitchens. No sign of Egyptian tummy here. They also have their own bakery so forget the diet and enjoy! Try the Eqyptian Oblisk red wine from the Nile Valley - it is slighty sweet and full of Eastern flavours - a perfect accompaniment to the fine Arabian ( & International ) Restaurant menu.

The current Political troubles are keeping visitor numbers down which is a shame. The maxim of lightening does not strike twice in the same place is as good as any, especially as you can be terrorised just staying at home in London. The hotel have strict airport style security and the tourist Police run a Checkpoint at the Cairo / Coast road juction on the approaches to the Hotel.
The Hilton up the road at the Israeli border is rebuilt and open for business with a Dive Centre.
Take advantage of this delightful part of the world before the crowds return.

Reading the reviews on this website led us to this gem of a hotel. If you are after bright lights, discos and noise - don't bother coming here. On the other hand if you want peace and quiet in lovely surroundings, good service by pleasant, friendly staff, give this place a go. If you do want a bit of exitement the hotel has a newly opened casino.
At the time of writing (summer 06), the situation in this part of the world is turning tourists away. Take advantage and visit! While you are there, take time to have a go at diving at Aqua Sport [--] just down the road near the Taba Hilton.

I pass the worst time in my life in this hotel. The landscape is beautiful. but service is really bad. rooms are dirty and the food is mediocre plus slow service. I wait more than an hour for a simple salad. My things were stolen from the room. Lucky the sea is nice, but you can get much better place in taba for the same money

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a week at the Tobya Hotel in Taba Egypt. We booked this independently and not as part of a tour. It was more than we could have expected, especially for the price! We wanted a relaxing week to do nothing but lie by the pool and scuba dive.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff were efficient, helpful and above all friendly - they really could not seem to do enough for us. Nadia, the owner takes time to make sure that each and every guest is happy and has everything they need and is always on hand - the women never seems to rest! I would happily recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet week in a relaxing hotel in the sun! This is great for couples as well as groups and families. There are 2 stunning pools, so there is more than enough space to accommodate everyone. If you are interested in diving, Tobya will recommend a local dive centre that was also great. They are due to open a small casino shortly so that will allow for more entertainment! We left feeling like we would definitely be back and we are already planning our next visit!

We have just had 10 days at the Tobya Boutique Hotel which proved a real find in this part of the Sinai. It is 35 minutes from Taba airport and situated on the coast road that runs SW from the Egypt/Israel border 4 kms away. We were met at the hotel reception by the owner Nadja who was to be a warm and thoughtful host throughout our stay. We had the lovely Gaughin suite which was set on its own overlooking the second and quieter pool. The hotel itself is interesting architecturally with real character and completely different to the monotony of big chain hotels. Nadja has strong artistic flair which has been used to the full throughout the whole hotel. We had a really restful peaceful stay and spent our days between the pool or the beach. The food is good: buffet with chicken or fish on the barbeque, or room service/lunch menus with a good range. This hotel is ideal for couples although perfectly good for families - and there were families staying there when we were there. There are loads of different places around the hotel to sit and have a drink or lunch. Although the road splits the hotel from the beach (which you access by going through a tunnel under the road) we did not notice any noise from the road and it isnt noticeable from any part of the hotel. We cant recommend this highly enough if you are looking for some guaranteed warm weather a few hours flight away with little time difference (so not jet lag) and you just want some rest and relaxation. Nadja's warm welcome and care throughout our stay really made it for us. As a hostess she is hard to beat and contributed hugely to our enjoyment of the hotel. Without in any way interfering she managed to make sure we had what we needed and enjoyed ourselves. You do get the feel you are staying in her large country house rather than a hotel - certainly not an anonymous hotel with a different manager on every night. The staff too were also equally charming and friendly and we had the most incredible personal service every day. There is no all-inclusive option at this hotel which we thought was a bonus, and we thought the half board was excellent value.
Those interested in diving can go to Aqua Sport at the Hilton Hotel (free pickup/dropoff every day) which is just 5 minutes away. It has a good house reef but we enjoyed the day out on the boat where we did three excellent dives.
We travelled with Crusader Travel and Bruce there handled all our arrangements (flights transfers diving etc) with amazing efficiency.

We stumbled upon Tobya by accident, noticing from the road the fantastic landscaping that screens the hotel and the private beach from the public. We were on our way to the Israeli border and decided to stop at Tobya for lunch to see what it was all about.

After a fantastic meal and conversation with the owners (who have an amazing past and story about the building of the hotel), we decided to stay for the night. It ended up being one of the best decisions we're made since we arrived in Egypt. There were 4 of us traveling together, and the word that each of us kept saying to one another was "perfect."

Everything about Tobya, from the way the hotel is situated with breathtaking views of the sea from every point, to the architecture, design and decoration of the facility, to the spectacular landscaping that we found was planted and allowed to mature before the hotel building began, to the more than reasonable pricing was perfect. A large, crowded and mediocre hotel down the road was $150 (us) for a single room. Tobya cost us significantly less for a 2 bedroom suite with a view of the mountains, pool, and the sea. The private beach was serene and quiet, with wonderful snorkling and extremely attentive service. The only complaint I have about the trip was that we only had one night to spend at this absolutely perfect resort. I hope to plan another trip to Egypt soon, with Tobya as a main destination.
