Firstly the bad as there aren't many. The toilets by the beach bar needs to be opened at night otherwise u have to walk to the main hotel (which is quite a distance wen u have Pharoah's revenge). While relaxing by the pool or beach Constant badgering to go on boat trips or massages trying to sell you, once told no they left you alone to until the next day! I would recommend a massage but do barter the price as they will knock it down. All the staff work very hard with very long hours but i am not so sure that the managers appreciate their staff very much. We seemed to get biten alot when we went to the beach bar so take lots of protective. I do think the tables & chairs in the beach bar are very dated & tacky, they need to be modernised as they are also very dirty with spilt drinks left on them. We found Pharoah's bar a nicer alternative at night.
Now for the positives.
Firstly we made some fantastic friends Sue & John which really made our honeymoon!! The staff are excellent barmen - Mohammed (blue shirt) Ahmed (blue shirt) siead (gareth gates look a like &makes the best coffee ever) . Lifeguard Mohammed saved our beds every single day & loved getting thrown in the pool & returning the favour :-) All the Waiters in the seashells - Mohammed (my favourite) I'm not so sure the manager appreciates them & how hard they work. The chefs are amazing & the omlettes are to die for - i wanted to bring the chef home with me.
The location of the hotel is beautiful mountains one side & total seaview the other. The Hilton is next door & I would never recommend staying there. I popped in to go to the toilet & for a window was just a huge diamond hole without glass (not exactly a 5*) & the toilet was filthy. At the Movenpick all toilets were cleaned every hour & they have a chart on the door to show they have been cleaned. All the cleaners & groundsmen work so hard & constantly working from dawn til dusk. These make the hotel what it really is. There are 2 camels that walk within the grounds & i made very good friends with them, feeding them apples & banana everyday. We also had a ride on Marieanne that you dont have to pay for but we did give a tip. The snorkelling (once i got over my fear of fish) was amazing. I highly recommend buying a waterproof camera, we bought one from the shop in the hotel for 10 pounds but it was just a disposable with 27 photos on it. I was really angry to see people feeding the fish & just standing on the coral (Germans) this is very dangerous for the fish & the coral takes years to grow back. I think they need a watchman or people should get fined if found feeding the fish hopefully that would stop them. We went snorkelling from the Movenpick & swam around to the Hilton but then got asked to leave as we werent guests there!! We were only swimming in the sea. The best snorkelling is to the left of hotel by the edge of the Hilton/Movenpick & the new reef infront of the Movenpick for people who don't like to go too far out into the sea.
We were left towel decorations on the bed & when we first walked into our room as it was our honeymoon we had 2 big totally gorgeous cakes & a beautiful decoration on the bed dressing gowns & slippers. The view from 3047 is amazing. It wasnt right infront of the pool so you didnt get the noise from the pool. You could see all of the grounds of the sea side.
Ramy the Animaton boss is so so funny "woo, woo, woo, woo" The other one Mohammed is lovely too. If your willing to let yourself go & can take a joke you'll have a great time here. If you don't want to join in you dont have to as they dont badger you once you say no. We went on a VIP cruise which was lovely but expensive for what it was. I think the only VIP bit was it was all English. I dont think eating my meal on my knee is very VIP, i would recommend next time just taking the red sea cruise which took the same route on a similar boat & 20 pounds cheaper. We didnt take any other tours as we found them to be too expensive.
We made friends with all the managers even the top boss bless him but my favourite was Rashid. He was lovely & always willing to help his staff & not afraid to do some work unlike some of the other bosses. He gave me a little ride in his cart & made us laugh always saying hello & shaking our hand whenever we saw him.
All in all we had a great Honeymoon & made some long life friends. xx
