“Amazing staff, gorgeous views & a very pleasant hotel”
Reviewed 24 October 2010

Firstly the bad as there aren't many. The toilets by the beach bar needs to be opened at night otherwise u have to walk to the main hotel (which is quite a distance wen u have Pharoah's revenge). While relaxing by the pool or beach Constant badgering to go on boat trips or massages trying to sell you, once told no they left you alone to until the next day! I would recommend a massage but do barter the price as they will knock it down. All the staff work very hard with very long hours but i am not so sure that the managers appreciate their staff very much. We seemed to get biten alot when we went to the beach bar so take lots of protective. I do think the tables & chairs in the beach bar are very dated & tacky, they need to be modernised as they are also very dirty with spilt drinks left on them. We found Pharoah's bar a nicer alternative at night.
Now for the positives.
Firstly we made some fantastic friends Sue & John which really made our honeymoon!! The staff are excellent barmen - Mohammed (blue shirt) Ahmed (blue shirt) siead (gareth gates look a like &makes the best coffee ever) . Lifeguard Mohammed saved our beds every single day & loved getting thrown in the pool & returning the favour :-) All the Waiters in the seashells - Mohammed (my favourite) I'm not so sure the manager appreciates them & how hard they work. The chefs are amazing & the omlettes are to die for - i wanted to bring the chef home with me.
The location of the hotel is beautiful mountains one side & total seaview the other. The Hilton is next door & I would never recommend staying there. I popped in to go to the toilet & for a window was just a huge diamond hole without glass (not exactly a 5*) & the toilet was filthy. At the Movenpick all toilets were cleaned every hour & they have a chart on the door to show they have been cleaned. All the cleaners & groundsmen work so hard & constantly working from dawn til dusk. These make the hotel what it really is. There are 2 camels that walk within the grounds & i made very good friends with them, feeding them apples & banana everyday. We also had a ride on Marieanne that you dont have to pay for but we did give a tip. The snorkelling (once i got over my fear of fish) was amazing. I highly recommend buying a waterproof camera, we bought one from the shop in the hotel for 10 pounds but it was just a disposable with 27 photos on it. I was really angry to see people feeding the fish & just standing on the coral (Germans) this is very dangerous for the fish & the coral takes years to grow back. I think they need a watchman or people should get fined if found feeding the fish hopefully that would stop them. We went snorkelling from the Movenpick & swam around to the Hilton but then got asked to leave as we werent guests there!! We were only swimming in the sea. The best snorkelling is to the left of hotel by the edge of the Hilton/Movenpick & the new reef infront of the Movenpick for people who don't like to go too far out into the sea.
We were left towel decorations on the bed & when we first walked into our room as it was our honeymoon we had 2 big totally gorgeous cakes & a beautiful decoration on the bed dressing gowns & slippers. The view from 3047 is amazing. It wasnt right infront of the pool so you didnt get the noise from the pool. You could see all of the grounds of the sea side.
Ramy the Animaton boss is so so funny "woo, woo, woo, woo" The other one Mohammed is lovely too. If your willing to let yourself go & can take a joke you'll have a great time here. If you don't want to join in you dont have to as they dont badger you once you say no. We went on a VIP cruise which was lovely but expensive for what it was. I think the only VIP bit was it was all English. I dont think eating my meal on my knee is very VIP, i would recommend next time just taking the red sea cruise which took the same route on a similar boat & 20 pounds cheaper. We didnt take any other tours as we found them to be too expensive.
We made friends with all the managers even the top boss bless him but my favourite was Rashid. He was lovely & always willing to help his staff & not afraid to do some work unlike some of the other bosses. He gave me a little ride in his cart & made us laugh always saying hello & shaking our hand whenever we saw him.
All in all we had a great Honeymoon & made some long life friends. xx

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your trip advisor review after your recent stay with us.

We are very glad that you have enjoyed your honeymoon holiday with us.

We have opened the beach toilets and it’s closed only after the closing our of the beach bar, thank you for the hint.

Although we have instructions in different languages along with the life guards and beach boys asking the clients not to feed the fish and not to stand on the reef but this is still very challenging.

I have shared your comments with the staff and they all appreciated them.

We consider all our employees are the real asset of the hotel and definitely we appreciate their hard work.

Thank you for your praise to the hotel and staff and we are looking forward to welcome you again in Taba.

Best Regards

First of all I would like to say i think it is VERY SMALL MINDED of people to complain about the Islamic call to prayer, you are in a Muslim country! It only happens 5 times a day and if you dont want to listen to it, then its only background noise. Some people need to broaden their horizons! Basically this hotel was simply fantastic. We arrived tired and a bit grumpy because our flight was delayed, whist we were sat on the plane. (air strikes in France meant we could not get permission to fly over the country!) so we were left to sit on our Easy jet plane for 3 hours at a complete standstill. However when we arrived at the hotel we checked in and our bags were taken from us and we were taken by golf buggy to our rooms. Imagine our great surprise when we were taken to a private bungalow! We were unaware we had booked this but we were assured this was our accomodation. This was fantastic. The bungalows had their own small pool area and breakfast building. Waking up in this resort every morning was amazing. Camels outside, blazing sun, we visited in november and it was beautiful weather. Only thing is the sun set at about 5pm but this was no problem. Food was incredible, thehotel was immaculate, staff were very friendly, grounds stunning. Omelette chef to cook fresh omlettes in the morning! Can't find a fault here. If you are thinking about booking, just do it! and book a bungalow :) also my brother took a day excursion to Jerusalem whichhe said was not to be missed

The rooms and location is quite OK , but the quality of the food is very poor. I mean with this the supposed hot food isn't warm and the supposed cold drinks are most of the time warm. It is then normal that after a few days a lot of persons of our group needed the doctor ( located in the hotel) and had to pay a large amount for the quickly given baxters. It was not the first time I was in Egypt but it is the first time that the "food part" of the holiday was quite horrible. Even after spoken to the direction nothing was changed. Exept the bar in the loby all the other bars are not equiped to serve "normal" drinks all the time. The coolboxes are too small en after a while they serve warm beer.
The first impression of the hotel is good but after been to the restaurant you wished to be elswere. It was the first but also the last time in Mövenpick Taba.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for completing trip advisor comments after your recent stay with us.

We are glad that you liked the location and the rooms of the hotel.

I regret that some aspect of your holiday was not up to your expectations.
And that you were sick during your stay with us.

I have discussed the issue of warm food and drinks with the chef and Food and Beverage director and action already taken.

Thank you and we are looking forward to welcome you again in Taba in order to re-establish the image of Mövenpick Hotel.

We stayed at the Taba Movenpick hotel for two weeks at the start of October and really enjoyed our holiday. In particular we were impressed with the people who work at the hotel (and the Hilton next door) who were unfailingly friendly and helpful.
As it was part of the All inclusive we had most of our meals in Seashell's, which was excellent. The food was really enjoyable and varied, I particularly enjoyed the breakfasts, so much choice! Everything from fresh fruit to omelets fried whilst you wait, (and gorgeous danish pastries). The waiters and chef's were fabulous, particularly Essam, Tarek, Ibrahim, Gemal and Monty, and constantly made a fuss of our two little boys.
We also used Pharaohs Bar quite often which was also very good, it was often busy but we never had to wait very long for a drink, and the barmen were always cheerful and friendly.
The hotel was incredibly clean, even the toilets on the beach were spotless. The hotel is a credit to the cleaners and gardeners who work so hard.
One of the things we enjoyed most about our holiday was the snorkeling, just a few feet from the edge of the water is an incredible underwater world, where there are hundreds of tropical fish and incredible coral to explore. Between us we also saw an octopus a barracuda and a moray eel. Which was nice.
The hotel is also well placed for trips, its possible to do day trips to Jerusalem or Petra from the hotel, either on organized trips or under your own steam if you are adventurous. Its also only 5 miles from the resort of Eilat, where there is quite a lot to do, though the border crossing fee's can be a bit expensive especially if you have a family.
The only real negative about the hotel was the lack of a decent snack bar, it would be nice to grab a snack on or near the beach around lunchtime, but the snacks that were available left a lot to be desired......but that one small thing notwithstanding we had a wonderful memorable holiday at the Movenpick Taba.

On arrival at the hotel, I was impressed about the service we recieved when checking in. The hotel is very clean and food was available on arrival as we arrived late evening.
The beach and snorkling was fantastic but be warned get their early for a sun lounged. As these go really quick, however don't let this put you off, as it is only a short distance from the pool.
The pool staff are friendly and will try to take care of your needs, whilst round the pool. The animation
team do ask you to join the activites and are really freindly, darts in the morning in the breeze was my fav.
The food was great in the sea shells, and I found no problem with it. The evening entertainment needs some improvement, however made some great friends there and if the entertainment was better this might not have happened lol. They do need more toilets though, or open the beach toilets at night.
Overall the hotel was great, the weather was to die for! If you like it quiet and love the sun and like nice staff this holiday is for you.

This was the first package holiday we had taken in nearly 40 years and we were unsure about the whole thing. No worries - the hotel is superb and location great. The hotel building is extremely attractive and the grounds are gorgeous. There are gardens which are lit at night and very romantic, the pools are lovely whether you like a 'bit of life' or quiet with a childrens' pool if you need one. You do not have to leave the hotel grounds to get to the beach and there you can relax or go snorkelling which is fantastic. Our 4 year old grandson absolutely loved it - he learned to swim in the childrens' pool and was snorkelling with the rest of us the next day - the sealife is incredible. The food is beautifully cooked and presented. Staff at Sea Shells - Atel, Essam, Taril, Ibrahem, Ali, Mohamed, Ahmed, Chefs Abu El Hassan, Montaser, Sayed, Gazel and Gamal -are all great and very friendly and helpful. So yes, the hotel, location, food, beach etc etc are all great but what makes this a great experience are the staff. Every single one there is brilliant - they couldn't do enough for us and we can't thank them enough for a fantastic holiday.

Just returned from the Taba Mövenpick last monday and had a nice stay.

The hotel is located just 500m from the border with Israel and next to the Taba Hilton. It takes about 40 minutes to get there from the airport, which is located higher up the Sinai mountains. The drive from the airport to Taba offers some splendid views and rough nature.

Before getting to the hotels, you pass the Coral Island (Salahadin castle which you can visit) and the "village" of Taba which is in fact only little more than a Bedouin settlement.

The Mövenpick is a good looking hotel from the outside and you enter a spacious lobby. Reception staff are fast and friendly and our bags where at our room in no time.

The rooms are ok in every way and clean all the time. We had a small problem with the airco which was fixed within the hour. The building is getting a bit dated and could be freshed up a bit, but this is only minor, except for the main restaurant which looks more like a cafetaria.

Hotel gardens and plants are very well taken care off and the poolarea is clean. Pool staff are great.

We had no complaining about the food, it was good every night. Also, the breakfast had excellent bread and pastries, better the average in Egypt. We preferred eating at the Seashells because it's more quiet and you can sit outside.

We also visited the Sherazade and we took the day's menu, it was excellent. We didn't have to pay anything extra, you are only charged if you eat à la carte and when you take some extra tea or sisha or special beer/wine.

If you want to eat outside the hotel, you can visit the special restaurants at the Hilton (Tex-Mex, Nelson) or visit Taba Heights (about 20 min by taxi). We went to Taba Heights one night and ate at the Flying Carpet restaurant which we would recommend. Taba Heights also offers plenty of shops "Bazar style" but bargaining is a bit more difficult here, shops take advantage of the fact that you are a bit stuck to the location. But you can still do a deal here if you put some effort in it.

The Mövenpick spa was worth trying and there also is a beauty salon. My wife had some allergic reaction after a threatment but was offered 2 extra visits free of charge to heal the "damage" and after the 2nd visit she was fine and the effect of the first threatment was clearly good.

I did some diving with Aqua Sport which is located in both the Mövenpick and Hilton and they offered an excellent service. Diving in Taba is nice, lot's of small marine life.

I would be happy to go back.
