“Great holiday, lovely, though quiet resort!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 November 2011

Had a one week stay at this hotel. The staff are fantastic and go out of their way to ensure you have a good holiday - any problems we encountered were sorted very quickly and efficently. The rooms are a great size and clean as is the entire complex. Food was fine, a tad samey but always choice and again if you wanted something that wasn't out then all you had to do was ask. The pool staff were brilliant - funny, friendly and helpful as were the bar staff especially at the Reef bar! Special thanks to Mohammed at the pool, Samir at the Reef bar and Natalie in Customer relations - great staff members!
The entertainment is very low key but plenty of areas to sit and relax and enjoy the cocktails or chat with new friends!

we went this year in may a month after the trouble started. the hotel was dead with one wing closed and only a few french and a lot of english. we had a great time with the staff at the hotel who could not do enough for you ,the food was ok but repetative and the wine with dinner was dire. the lagoon pool was great and mohamid who looked after us was wonderful. this was a good trip but the hotel needs a slight update as feels slightley dated.not sure we would go again.( maybe a week)

Room Tip: ask to be near reception .

Stayed 25th October to 1st November

The hotel sits well, overlooking a shelving if pebbly beach at the waters edge, the sand is fairly soft and clean. However the view from the lobby bar, main restaurant and some of the rooms is really stunning, especially at night, looking over the Red Sea to the twinkling lights of Saudi.
Reception were efficient and polite at check-in with the option of going straight down to the restaurant if you were hungry after the flight. Two key cards were provided and a towel card for each guest, basic hotel information was provided by the rep on the transfer coach. Toilets are past reception and turn right, last door on the right. Lobby bar on this level, great service by attentive staff....main restaurant down a floor, lift available, also at this level is main indoor entertainment room, open to the elements but it doesn't rain anyway...this has all the organised shows and music...
Our room was large and well presented, huge double bed, plenty of wardrobe space, table and chairs both in the room and on the balcony... mini-bar is well stocked but there is enough room put your own drinks in...built in safe that works...Bathroom has a wet room/shower and hair-dryer...towels and bedding were all clean and changed regularly....tea/coffee facilities (ask for milk at the lobby bar)...
The ONLY criticism I can level is at the main restaurant, it appears either under or overstaffed depending on guest usage...if it was busy, then dishes were not replenished and waiters could not keep up with re-laying tables or supplying drinks....
Pool bar was always busy but staff were able to cope, sometimes a little difficult actually getting close enough to the bar due to guests settling in for a days drinking, this is obviously not the Hotels fault....
Pool Boys....great staff, helpful and yet unobtrusive....the toilets at the pool did on occasion get a little 'fragrant' but when mentioned to staff, citronella candles were lit and all was sweet again....
The seafood restaurant deserves a mention, one of the best steaks I have had anywhere, unfortunately not included in the All Inclusive but worth a visit...
Customer services are visible and available most of the day, there are in the main lobby opposite reception...
All in all...Excellent hotel staffed by people who seem to care...if something appears wrong, mention it, give them a chance to rectify it....
Things not connected to the hotel... Thomson rep in residence, Ashraf(?)...polite, helpful and knowledgeable, .flight with Thomson, very poor level of seat comfort even in 'extra legroom'...and now no meals, just snacks to purchase, not much left on the flight back...I personally will actively seek out an alternative tour operator in future.
I have recommended this hotel to friends and relatives without hesitation..

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor sea view

Had another wonderful holiday at this hotel and met some lovely people. I did manage to get an upset stomach but the thompson rep advised me to call in at the pharmacy in town and they provided me with tablets (which hit the spot) I was also given a lovely mint tea by ahmed from the pool bar - nothing was too much trouble for these guys they deserve a pay rise for the work they do. Mohammed, Ahmed and Lewis thank you for making our stay such a delight.
The food was great for breakfast and lunch but the evening meals could sometimes be slightly disappointing, and no, I wasnt asking for burger and chips!
The room was cleaned every day to a high standard and we even had flowers some days with a swan & crocodile towel arrangement which was very much appreciated. Thank you everyone we will definately be coming back.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a nicer view

On arriving at the hotel we were a little later than our expected time but as we got into reception we were asked to go straight to the dining room for a meal this was excellent even though it was about 11.00pm. We then checked in and our bags were taken to our room our room was 2346 it was a huge room with fab aircon and it was immaculately made up, slippers and dressing gowns in bathroom and spotlessly clean, now thats my holiday made perfect for me.The food was very good, the pool was great and with free towels everyday, plenty of sun beds and umbrellas if you wanted them. The day entertainment was good but no hassle if you did not want to join in, and there is a kids club too. The hotel is on the beach again spotlessly clean which is great for snorkleing go to the right of the hotel along about 150 meters as it was better there. The bar was a hub and a great place for chatting especially at the swim up bit. The evening entertainment is very lo key but that is the same all over Egypt, however a free shuttle operates to downtown Taba which ironically is uphill takes about 5 mins where you will find lots of shops and restaurants. All taken into consideration this was a fantastic fault free holiday.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Intercontinental Hotel, I stayed there on the 18th to the 25th October. This has been my second trip this year to the Intercontinental and on both occasions I have travelled on my own with my young daughter. As a woman travelling on her own I have felt very safe at this hotel and I will definately return to the Intercontnental next time I decide to holiday in Taba. The staff at this hotel are amazing... especially the pool boys and animation team as they made my daughters holiday. This is a great hotel to stay at if you just want a relaxing break, very quite and chilled out. The food at this hotel is really excellent, I run a meditteranean restaurant with my husband in England and I am never happy when I go out to eat at other places but I could not fault the restaurant at the Intercontinental, every meal I had there was amazing. If you are considering bookIng a holiday at this hotel do it, you will not be disappointed.

We revisited the intercontinental from Sept 27 to Oct 11th this is the only hotel that we have ever revisited so we obviously like it. Why? The staff are brilliant (special thanks to our waiter Ali..the one with the new bAby) and to Lewis...hope his wife had a good visit..
The food is beautifully presented and there is plenty of choice though I can understand that people who are big meat eaters might not be satisfied. The a la carte fish restaurant was excellent (we went twice) but were quite happy with the all inclusive buffetsThe room was spacious and ,clean.as was the bathroom. The grounds are extensive and beautifully kept and it was very pleasant to walk all around the exterior of the hotel and be greeted by smiling staff (all of them at all times).
It is very disappointing that Thomson have decided to cancel the flight from Birmingham next year and it is upsetting to speak to staff who are worried about the potential loss of customers next year.Egypt has had much to contend with this year and the staff at the Intercontinental are determined to give their guests a good holiday even though there has been a 40% drop in customers this year.

We shall return and urge people not to be put off by the totally negative views of some people. This is a lovely place to spend a relaxing holiday and we are very happy to recommend it.
