The hotel is well laid out; the rooms are lovely and big as are the bathrooms and the shower cubicle. We stayed in a Pentagon room overlooking the mini golf course. We did have a lovely week at the hotel but unfortunately will not be returning. We just found the hotel to be too big, very much geared up for families and kids and we didn’t like the all inclusive option. A lot of this was obviously down to our choice and not the hotel, hence still giving it 4 stars as I am sure all hotels with AI option are similar.

We were looking for somewhere a bit more romantic as there were just the 2 of us so we spent most of our time either on the beach or sitting at the Lagoon bar which was lovely. I can’t comment on the pool as we could never get a sun bed and the pool was always full of kids. Likewise, the entertainment which was supposed to be adult at 9am, but whenever we walked past the place was again full of kids running riot on the stage even at 9.45 so we never got to see any entertainment. We only ate in the buffet restaurant twice as again it was full of kids running around and not very romantic. We ate and got out as quickly as possible and retreated once again to the Lagoon bar.

The food we did eat was lovely, and I don’t eat meat, but found lots of salad, freshly baked bread, a choice of fish dishes and vegetarian dishes and breakfast was lovely with fresh fruit, yogurt and freshly made omelettes.

We ate out in El Wakela most evenings as the red wine in the hotel was barely drinkable which was a shame and the lobby bar full of smokers. I do think the hotel could improve the wine and also the buffet style area. We ate on the dine-around voucher one night and had a lovely meal at the Sofitel. It was still buffet style but they had a separate adult only restaurant which was laid out with table cloths and more like eating out so we had a nice leisurely meal here one night with nice red wine too so Egyptian wine can be palatable.

There was one day when it rained!! Yes rain in Egypt so we asked about the mini golf and even though we never saw anyone on the course we were informed that the clubs were all out so we never got to play that either.

The staff work really hard and the place is spotless but it would be nice to have an adult section in the main restaurant and to ban smoking in the inside areas. Also the staff could stop the kids running around in the bars, lobby and restaurant. One day kids were playing football in the lobby area which has tables with glass vases on and nobody said a word!! We also had a family move in next to our room the last few days and their kids were banging on the interconnecting door and running up and down outside in the corridor with a football so we went and had a word!

Good bits – the lagoon bar
Bad bits – the smoking and lack of adult areas to eat

Room Tip: Atrium seemed to be quieter as it was apart from the hotel.

Dear Nanoushka,
thank you for your review. Of course it can not be satisfactory to us that you felt disturbed by the children around the hotel. Usually we are known as a relaxing and chilled place. We shall try even harder in the future to advise parents and support them in taming their children so they are having fun while not being a burden & nuisance to others.
It is correct that we are not a Boutique Hotel, however as you mentioned there is always some places to find peace and quiet areas (i.e. the Lagoon Restaurant, Relaxation Area at the beach, etc.). We hope your next vacation spot more suitable to your needs & wants. We would like all our guests to be happy!
With best regards,
Your Crew of the InterContinental Taba Heights Resort

The whole resort looks impressive and the position is very good with very nice landscape.
The rooms are very big and nice even if a little bit old.
The hotel itself it is quite big and it is very well taken care of. They pay attention to every detail.
The staff is very nice and very helpfull. We wanted to change the room when we arrived just because it was on the ground floor and we wanted something a little bit higher. There was no problem. We tipped the recetionist only after he changed the room and after that he was even more attentive with us during the whole vacation.
The beach is amazing, the water is cristal clear and you can see a lot of fishes. We also sow a big turtle a couple of times. They also provide towels for the sunbeds wich is a big plus. There is also a pool bar wich is near the beach so you have the drinks quite close. The draft beer they provide is quite good also the cocktails (the ones included is the "all inclusive" package). That was also a very nice surpise. The staff at the bar was also very nice and if you tipped them even once they get you the drinks directly on the beach for the rest of the holiday ;).
The food is ok. The breakfast is a little bit too repetitive. The lunch good but for me not always a lot of choices. The dinner is the moment when you can really choose from a lot of types of specialities. And very good ones.
For the trips i recommed that before buying one from the agency that you travel with to check the other offers from the hotel lobby. The price difference is quite big sometimes for the same trips.
The animation team is also very funny and friendly and they have very interesting activities.
It is a hotel to take into consideration if you want to visit Egypt and Taba region and you look for a quiet place with amazing beach and very good services.

Dear Romulus,
"It is a hotel to take into consideration if you want to visit Egypt and Taba region and you look for a quiet place with amazing beach and very good services." is a great closing line... come back soon and we hopefully change the "a hotel" to "THE hotel" for you.

Just returned from a week at the Intercontinental. Fantastic hotel, the room was well proportioned and very comfortable. Stunning views from every aspect with the backdrop of the Sinai mountains and the Red Sea with views straight across to Saudi Arabia and Jordan. We used the health club for massage and steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. The restaurant provides an extensive choice of dishes and is very well prepared. If you want to properly relax and unwind, look no further. The all inclusive deal stops at 11pm which of course means that although you can still have drinks, you will be paying hotel prices. The benefit of this is that this hotel doesn't attract the nuisances that are singing and shouting at 4am returning to their rooms. I loved this hotel and will definately be returning again

We booked this holiday very last minute and had no idea of what to expect, we were wary of the horror stories of becoming ill from the food etc (Egypt itself, not this hotel) but couldn't of been more wrong. It has totally changed are views on the country.
We arrived in the night and got to the room looking out on our balcony we though we just had a view of a garden, however waking up the next morning we found the stunning mountain backdrop that was hiding in the night!
The rooms were spacious, clean and comfy. The bed is huge and we had no problem settling in.
The restaurant caters for everything, it is a buffet style however there was plenty of choice and we never went hungry. The restaurant itself was not over crowded, however I don't think we would like to experience it in the height of summer as it was busy enough. I agree with some reviews that it would be nice to have something available through out the day rather than set times, even if its just snacks etc
The weather was lovely and alternated between beach and pool, both were exactly what we were looking for as we wanted to do nothing except recharge the batteries!
We tried all the bars, the lagoon bar being very quiet hardly anyone there but put this down to the time of year and the cold weather at night. We were left with the lobby bar and Archie's none are what we would choose on a night out but you make do with what you have got. The lobby bar is very quiet and Archie's is like some bad club out of the 80's however we still made the most of it we can't expect the brilliant chilled days to turn into a lively party at night!
The bay view staff and lobby bar staff were so friendly (except for the bald guy in the lobby bar, he didn't wear a name badge so not to sure! no matter how hard we smiled he ignored us when we went for drinks, didnt speak to us and constantly poured is half glasses of beer in what was already a small glass!) I believe you put in what you want to get out and by the end of the week we were treated as friends, their service is brilliant.
We tried the south Sinai massage in the spa very relaxing and made us even more chilled out! Perfect!
The only hiccup we had was check out today, we paid for late check out. When we woke that morning our room had no power so no hair dryer, no plugs working to charge our gadgets to keep us occupied for the ride home. We went to reception who said they would send someone to look at it and we went to the pool for the last bit of sun. When we got back to the room it had not been sorted, rang reception who said someone will be with us 20 minutes max. We waited and still no one came ended up having our shower and leaving. Got to reception who didn't seem to know what we were talking about (even though it was the same guy from the morning) they said I could use the spa to dry my hair (one of the reasons we paid for late check out) they did apologies but it felt such as shame to end the holiday like that the reason we got late check out was to be chilled right to the last minute.. And our gadgets died on the way home making that 6 hour flight feel that little bit longer.
Overall excellent stay, brilliant location would recommend to friends with young families as the facilities and entertainment seemed great for them. We will return at some point in the future I'm sure of it!

Dear JoJo,
thank you very much for your great review. We are glad that you have generally enjoyed your stay. Please accept our apologies for the departure. We occasionally experience general power cuts outside our control however it seems to be an isolated problem in your room which we didnt handle perfectly at the time. We have discussed this in our quality meeting and surely have improvements implemented right away.
Hope to see you back for more...

We have just come back from a two week stay here and have mixed feelings about the place. I will try and break it down in a honest but sorry quite long review.

Food - The first week was a lot better than the 2nd maybe this was because it was getting repetitive. Maybe the restaurant should have a two weekly menu as to make sure guests that are staying for two weeks do not end up eating the same things and getting bored. The food even though repetitive was nice and we were able to find something to eat every night if you got creative. In addition to the above our waiter was lovely and knew what we wanted to drink at every meal time and we had no trouble getting a drink apart from one evening when our usual waiter wasn't around and our meal was nearly finished before we got a drink. One slight odd thing though was the girl standing at the entrance to the restaurant slightly confused us as we couldn’t work out what she was doing there if she was supposed to be telling people to use the hand gel then it wasn’t working.

On a very positive note The New Years Eve Gala meal was great and proves the chefs can really cook my hat goes of them and the other staff on the night what a great job they did.

Also do try the dine around scheme we went to the Mexican and Indian for a change of scenery and some different food. The hotel needs to promote this service more!!.

Rooms - are nice although maybe some updating here or there could be done but more than suitable for our needs with big comfy beds and big bathrooms with a nice walk in shower and the cleaner was great even knowing to put two shampoo and conditioners in my room as I have quite long hair and one wasn't enough. However here is the negative about the rooms and I'm sorry to have to write this but I have never stayed anywhere that is so noisy. Doors banging the whole night and early morning. Walls so paper thin you could here everything and we were very unlucky as we had a child next door to us who would wake up 3/4 times a night screaming and crying, once you got over the screaming child the Russians would wake you up either going back to their rooms or getting up . (Before the manager can say that it was mainly British staying there as in a previous post, it was Russians who kept us up every night for two weeks as we recognised the language that was being shouted out).

Bars – The service at the bar by the pool and reef bars was not great. It was very slow and the bartenders looked like they would rather be anywhere else than there in two weeks both never smiled. One afternoon after 10 days the bartender at the Reef bar suddenly decided that we couldn’t take a coffee to our sun loungers on the beach how strange when his colleague actually brought two coffees over to us earlier in the day (waiter bringing drinks around on the beach brilliant what a lovely guy always had a smile on his face and his two colleagues serving could learn alot from him) The Cross roads bar had a lot better service with a smile and very friendly waiters who would run back and fourth serving drinks all night.
Archers bar was good but a little dark at times but great to escape the kids on sugar highs running around outside in the court yard. Although it is an over 18’s bar there were some children in there but if they were being a nuisance were promptly told to leave by the bar staff although some children thought it ok to answer them back and be extermely rude to them. Hat goes off to the animation team and bar staff in the evenings for putting up with this and to keep smiling when I really would have wanted to hang the children by their feet from the nearest lampost as some where so rude.

The only let down of the bars and restaurant is that they seems very possessive about their glasses, they don’t allow you to take drinks to your rooms which was strange in itself as I have never stayed anywhere all inclusive where this has been a problem but they also don’t allow you to take them even if you explain you are taking them to dinner or from dinner to a bar.

Pool area, beach, and surrounding hotel - The pool, beach and grounds of the hotel are lovely they are kept extremely clean and I didn’t see any rubbish throughout my stay. The vibe on the beach is of pure relaxation and this is what we wanted so it hit the nail on the head so in this respect was perfect. We had a massage and scrub at the spa which was lovely and a nice way to end our holiday. The staff on the whole were really friendly and lovely apart from one or two. If the other issues could be sorted out then this would be a great hotel. However we are in two minds as to whether we would go back here the main reason being the amount of noise surrounding our bedroom a shame really as it is overall a good nice hotel.Maybe this is our fault and we should have asked to have been moved but judging by other people comments we would have probably been charged for the privilege of having a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: Try not to end up in a room next to a small child/children you will not sleep.

Hi em123,
thank you for taking the time for such a detailed review. We will certainly share it in our next quality meeting. Your food related comments have been discussed and we are working on new concepts to be implemented soon, then the hostess mentioned will also play a more active role. You come and see!
In regards to the noise I would like to refer to the other reviews (see i.e. Andy just above this review, staying at the same time as yourself) which attest us to be highly relaxing and a heaven of relaxations and peaceful vacation. Please accept our apologies as this did not work 100% this time. We shall be further working on our Relaxation line which already features the Relaxation Beach, the Relaxation SPA and other features to come. All at no extra cost. Peace and quiet is for free with us!
Best wishes for 2013 from the Crew of the InterContinental Taba Heights Resort
