“We are two very happy guests .”

Just returned from two weeks at the Intercontinental. We are experienced travellers, usually taking seven Caribbean holidays a year. This hotel has caused us to change our modus operandi.
The hotel is spotless throughout. All the staff are friendly, courteous, and well trained. We were astonished how the staff were rudely treated by some of the guests. The food in the buffet can get a little repetitive after two weeks, but take the time to look at all the dishes, and you will discover a gem. The beach is clean, spacious, well maintained, with lots of umbrellas. You will need shoes to enter the water.
We are surprised at the number of complaints on trip advisor. If you have a problem, mention it to reception, or Claire, and they will do all that is humanly possible to resolve the issue. If you want to party till three in the morning, then Taba is not the resort for you.
This is a wonderful hotel. We have booked and paid for two weeks in September, and two weeks in December. We have put our money where our mouth’s are.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us.

We had a lovely 2 week stay at this Hotel. we found all the staff to be excellent especially Maged, Nour and the 2 Ahmed's in the Splash bar and the 2 Ahmed's incharge of Towels and sun beds. if you are looking for a lazy week in the sun not to far away from home this is spot on. we had a nice big room on the 4th floor in the main building, great sea views and very quiet. The food was ok, a little bland at times. ( if I had wanted food heaven I would have gone to Italy, Malaysia or Turkey ( Kalkan) ....) We did a fantastic trip to Petra! the only downside to our 2 weeks was the rudeness of some of the other guests to the staff and fellow guests, I am constantly amazed by peoples attitude to others that work in the service industry, treat others the way you wish to be treated and you will find that you get 5 star plus treatment in return! this is a great value for money hotel. with a fantastic team of workers! as for the cleanliness it was fine apart from the dinning room furniture which is in dyer need of re upholstering...... If you get board of the all inclusive food, the Thai by the 3 corners and the Japanese at the Sofitel are both good and not badly priced, we also had room service a few times and it was always very good.... and the Iced coffee and mocktails at the splash bar are delicious!

If you want a friendly safe and relaxing holiday ...Look no further. All aspects of this resort are lovely, it is very large but because of this one does not realise how many guests are there. I always managed to find a secluded spot, I never had to que in the dinning room and the service was superb. Upgraded to a quiet suite I loved the food, beach, massage in the wellness centre. The reef, lagoon and bay bar service was excellent with the staff serving straight away with a smile. The pool looked busy with children and the usual guests who sat in the same seats every day ....but thats cool if they choose to do that fine.I am a beach babe myself and really enjoyed the smiling lifeguards attending to my every whim and arranging sunbeds and umberellas to my taste. has anyone considered that they ask the bog standard questions as they want to improve their english.....has anyone tried to read or speak arabic or egyptian.
I enjoyed several trips on previous holidays but this time enjoyed 2 weeks of sea swimming (you will need the special shoes about £5 from the hotel shop) walking each morning along the jogging path to the Hyatt and swimming off that far jetty a lot of sunbathing actually it was a bit too hot for me in the 100's!!!and moderate eating I actually struggled with 3 meals a day does anyone really eat that much and need more than 2 scoops of ice cream! I enjoyed the tapas at the Lagoon bar and with the allowance only cost an additional £3 or £4.
To sum up the sun is always shining, the boys are always smiling and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Enjoy

The Intercontintal Hotel in Taba Heights is a great place to relax , Staff are very helpful and attentive. This is the fifth time we have had a Holiday in the Intercontinental In Taba Height over the last three years and have booked another two weeks at the end of this year . What does that say about the Hotel ! . Cannot fault anything .

My friend and I (both female girls in our 20s) came here for 2 weeks last year with Thomson. We were quite impressed when we first arrived as the hotel seemed, clean, bright and quite luxurious. We were shown to our room (which was miles away from the restaurants and pools), on the other side of the hotel. We got lost trying to find it quite a few times. We had a view of the mini golf course, but we had very easy access to the beach. The sun was always out, lovely weather and nice views of the mountains across the sea

NOW for the problems.

Problem 1 - THE FOOD

We chose to go all inclusive. The food was horrible. Breakfast was okay. Lunch and dinner seemed to serve pretty much the same things. A few days into the holiday I had one of their soups and was up all night vomiting and with diahorrea. I also felt ill for about 2 days afterwards.
This ruined our trip as we were afraid to eat the food and I stuck to eating pasta and bread for the remaining week and a half.

The "snacks" were really expensive and the only free snack we could get during the day, between meals was ice cream (2 scoops) and a few cakes and pastries. This did not fill us up.

As a result, we ended up ordering room service quite a few times, and between the two of us managed to create a room service bill of £200 which is huge, considering we paid £600 for the holiday! but the food was completely inedible. It was flavourless and made us ill.

Problem 2 - THE LOCATION

The resort Taba heights is in the middle of a desert and there is nowhere you can easily go (except the tiny little village up the hill, where there is nothing but a supermarket and a few little souvenir/clothes shops and a bank).
As a result we booked a trip to Petra in Jordan, which was good and a trip to JErusalem and the dead sea. This was good however, you spent very little time in the dead sea resort and there were far too many sights to see in Jerusalem to see in one day. And the food provided in Jerusalem was cold and bland. The problem with these trips and all the others provided, is the huge cost. The trips together added £300 to our holiday. But we felt the need to do something as after a week of sunbathing, it got a bit boring.

The sea was nice and clear, but the beach was stony and the sea was rocky, so wearing some sort of shoes into the sea is recommended!

IMPORTANT - READ !!!! Problem 3 - The staff

The staff are the biggest problem. If you are a female and are travelling only in the company of females DO NOT COME HERE. Every time we went to dinner, we were stared at, winked at us, asked for our numbers and asked to take photos of us. We were asked if we were married and we were made to feel really uncomfortable.

The men watering the gardens used to stare as we walked by and the men working on the beach used to come up to us and randomly ask us if we were married. This was irritating as we were trying to relax.

We used to sit in the bar on the balcony in the evenings up until about 10pm, when it was dark and quiet. We really enjoyed this for the first few nights. However, One of the waitors started talking to us each night as he always served us.
We liked him to start with, as he seemed relatively normal and was not asking us such inappropriate questions, as the other staff did.

However, we soon realised that we were too old for his tastes. He showed me a photo on his mobile. I thought it would be of his family or friends. However, it was a pornographic image. I couldn't tell what I was looking at, really but he told me it was a child and then went on to say "woman is okay, but child is very good" Me and my friend were obviously repulsed and shocked that he would show us a pornographic image, but were distressed about it being apparently of a child.

I know if I had children, I would not be bringing them to this hotel with me !!!!

PROBLEM 4 - OUR HARRASSMENT

One night, sitting at the hotel bar, an employee said hello and we said hi. He told us he was the maintenance guy and asked us if our room was okay. We briefly mentioned a problem with our shower. He then asked us what room it was and we told him.
He said he would make sure someone fixed it the following day. We said thanks and expected him to leave.

However, he did not leave and he asked for pictures and told us we were attractive and he liked us. He even said "you want egyptian husband, 24, and an engineer" At this point, we left and walked towards the pool.

We bumped into fellow holiday makers and chatted with them until 4am. Then we went to our room.

WHEN we arrived, we got a phone call from a man. He said we had met him earlier, he gave us a room number and asked us to come and have sex with him, We hung up.
He rang back 4 times. WE answered and told him to go away. He said he was in my room next to me so we both screamed and jumped away from the cupboard and the window. Then we checked the whole room in a tired state of paranoia and fear.

We rang up the hotel and they just stopped all phone calls coming into our room. We suspected it was the guy who worked at the hotel but were not sure as he had used a false name and given us a room number.

We were frightened that he would have a room key (as he worked there) and he would be able to get into our room. We got no sleep. However this isnt the end of it.

THe next day we were frightened to leave our room, but did eventually, just to go to the beach.

That night, we got a knock at the door at about 11pm. We looked through the peer hole, and it was him. He stood there for half an hour before leaving. We were too scared to show signs of being in there incase he tried to get in with a key or something (which we weren't sure if he had one). THerefore, we hid behind the toilet and locked the bathroom door, for half an hour in tears and absolutely terrified.

We complained to the manager and we went to see him. He said he would investigate.

Eventually, the man handed in his resignation and we were apologised to.

HOwever, our only compensation was that we could check out later in the day without extra charge !!!!! WE really pushed them and they gave us a bit of money off our room service bill ( about £60)

This was ridiculous.

I SERIOUSLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO STAY HERE!!!! I am not surprised this happened, as a lot of the staff were leering at us and asking us for our numbers etc. THis guy obviously took it a bit too far for the hotel's liking.

Not a nice place for women

the hotel was good we got took straight too our rooms and our lugage delievered, the food was ALWAYS beef, the soups were nice tho, as i was stuck here for an extra 4 days due to the volcanic ash the food and intertainment as a teenager i ended up down at the ping pong table with the french until 11 pm. There are alot of french who are quite inconsiderate. Over the extra 4 days we were givin priority food in our room. the room had dust near the door, but they were big with a lovely shower but no bath. the beds and towels were cleaned and changed every day. the hotel staff, for me as a teenage girl were a bit 'full' on as one of them at the reception bar asked if me and my also teenage friend if we had facebook, the pools are clean and the lake was nice the cold pool and the lake were abit too cold. On the first day i went in the sea and cut my self on a rock so the fish in the lake kept nibbling on my cut and on my friends insect bite, i wouldnt recommended this hotel but i would like to go back :D xxx
