“A home away from home”
Reviewed 20 August 2013

We stayed 11 days at Aroha Taveuni with our 2.5 year old daughter and had the most fantastic experience. Ngaire and Dennis are beautiful hosts and work so hard to create this little paradise with so much attention to detail and respect for their local staff. The highlight of the day was dinner, when Cookie, their Fijian cook, created the most delicious meals (and even accommodated my vegetarian diet). We shared the meal with other guests at Dennis & Ngaire's home and enjoyed talking about our adventures during the day. There is sooooo much you can do on the island... hiking, snorkeling, diving, cycling, playing golf, kayaking, getting to know local people, go to church and enjoy the most amazing singing, horseback riding with a local farmer, etc. Aroha Taveuni is well equipped and we borrowed their kayak, bikes, golf clubs (green fee included!!) for free and explored the island. Dennis & Ngaire as well as their staff are very knowledgeable and can tell you a lot of interesting facts about the island & and their people.

If you're hoping to find a white sandy beach, you might have to take a 20 min taxi ride to the northern part of the island, where you can also find a little restaurant / cafe ("Tromentos") next to that beach with the most amazing views.

I would highly recommend Aroha Taveuni to anyone who wants to get to know "real" Fiji. It's ideal for couples, solo travelers, families with kids and many more.

Room Tip: We had the family bure (with 2 bedrooms), which was closest to where we had dinner... so we put our...

Wow! What a heavenly place this is! Denis, Ngaire and Minnie welcomed my family of 8 (me, my husband, 4 children and two disabled parents in wheelchairs). I can only reiterate and confirm what all the reviews say about Aroha, it really is fabulous. Denis and Ngaire offer a truly personal touch and even made a ramp for my parents wheelchairs to their bure and configured a bench to enable them to use the bathroom. We had a fantastic time here, beautiful accommodation, spectacular scenery, delicious meals and wonderful hospitality from all the staff made this stay the highlight of our holiday. Thank you so much! xxxxx

My daughter and I recently spent 3 days at Aroha Taveuni. The owners / hosts Ngaire and Denise are lovely and the accomodation and food excellent. Aroha is set in a beautiful location with a great swimming pool all with great views and access to the ocean. The owners attention to detail is far superior to most places and I've stayed in many high end places in and around Taveuni and Fiji in general. The food is some of the best I've experienced. Ngaire and Denis have a no hazzle approach and manage the place very efficiently. Aroha is possibly the best value property in Fiji and certainly the best value that I have experienced. We will be back.

Room Tip: All rooms are great

A very big thank you to Dennis and Ngaire we had the most amazing stay and you both made us feel extremely welcome and at home from the first day that we arrived. Everything was handled with such ease. We have never enjoyed accomodation on our travels like we did with you. Excellent value for money and everything so well equiped and so very clean. The grounds are amazingly maintained and hats off to your wonderful staff. the rooms themselves are more than we were expecting and just beautiful. The fresh flowers each day and fruit were just a lovely gesture. My boys absolutely loved the location and enjoyed your beach, we loved the snorkeling straigh off the beach and your friendly relaxed atmosphere was something else. we have a rule when travelling that we do not go to the same place twice, we will definately make an exception with you we loved it so much we will be back. Taveuni is definately worth another visit with so much to see and do and we will only ever stay with you. Thank you again for making our holiday so very special

We were a company of two couples for my birthday in May 2013.
This is the best place to stay we have had in 10 years of active travel.
The hotel's owners Dennis and Ngaire and their great team is always ready to help fulfill your every desire: barbecue, cycling, diving, island trips - everything is done simply ask and with a desire to please the guests.
A cake that is baked them cook for my birthday was a very pleasant surprise and is perfect!
We'll be back!

We stayed for 4 nights. We loved every minute and barely left the bure at all except to sit at the pool or by the beach. I can't say enough good things about Aroha, or its owners Dennis and Ngaire. There was an attention to to detail here that is rare in the service industry, including things I have never experienced before. Know this: they pre-separate the mosquito coils! If you have ever dealt with mossie coils before, you know they are annoying to separate. This was a small detail that makes a huge difference in your stay. Similarly, the kitchen supplies are topped up daily--never had to ask for anything. They don't just leave you instant coffee but real grounds and a plunger. There is fresh fruit for you every day. Twice we cooked dinner for ourselves in the petite well-stocked kitchen and twice we ate at the house. The house chef Cookie was brillant, especially the all-veg meal and the fish meal. There is wine and beer on premises at no markup, and there is a small grocery store down the road (5 min walk) with the essentials (ginger, garlic, onion, egg, rice). There is a fair degree of privacy, although the bungalows are arranged in duplex format. This is really the kind of place you can stay a long time. It's one of the best places we stayed at on our tour of the South Pacific.

Room Tip: they all seem nice. we had one with the private patio/sun deck and I think it was the best one :-)
