My wife and I spent a glorious week at the resort. I can not say enough about the resort and the staff working there. The Island is visually beautiful, the staff were amazing and the other guests made the whole experience unbelievable.
It is hard to try and find a place to start to explain the resort other than unlike any other I have been too. It takes relaxation to an entirely new level and makes you never want to leave. The staff were amazing, after only a couple hours, you began to feel like family. My favorite part was the before dinner drinks in the lounge with all the other guests talking about our days adventures and just enjoying the company.
The food is excellent, the wine list is equally good. It was the best vacation I have ever been on and I truly felt sad saying good bye.

We have just returned from a week at Nukubati Island Resort. We spent our honeymoon there and it exceeded all our dreams and prayers for what we wanted for a honeymoon. I literally cried when we left. It is beautiful but more than that, the staff and community quickly crawl into your heart and become family. We felt so loved, cared for and blessed!

It is real, authentic and truly provides the warmest of Fijian hospitality. The food is so fresh, healthy and scrumptious. Sunsets are complimented with drinks and canapés while every meal is relaxed, served at your own leisure with the most beautiful view. You can do what you want and we truly relaxed as we were completely cut off from the craziness and stress of daily life. This place is a haven...

There is plenty to keep you active with snorkeling, diving, kayaking, paddle boards, sailing, fishing and hiking available in your own time. The massages on the beach will sweep you away into another world while the picnic on a remote sand bank is indescribable. The surroundings, the sea life and island living is truly stunning!

We were in search of somewhere remote, authentic, beautiful and shy of commercialism and this place is exactly that! It's magical and we are already looking to return for our 1st anniversary. I cannot thank Sena and everyone enough who help make this place the gem that it is.

We stayed here for 5 nights in August last year in a Beachfront suite and it was the most beautiful introduction to married life and the gorgeous culture that exists in Fiji.
The accommodation was lovely, the food was beyond amazing and so plentiful and the staff were so kind. The service was impeccable, the activities were great and the cocktails were a highlight!
Nukubati holds a special place in our hearts and we hope that one day we will be able to return there!

Smiling is part of staying at Nukubati.
Yes I agree there is no air con, but hey this is an Island running on solar power, so read the reviews and make your own mind up!!!! But we had overhead fans in the bedroom & sitting area , so for us this was ok. Sleeping was not an issue, spotlessly clean sheets, and towels, what more can you ask for. Please keep in mind this is a rustic resort, but CLEAN.
For us , it was perfect, from the questions that were answered promptly from Sena, the greeting at the airport, to the transfer to the island by boat. Greeted by singing and laughter and fresh leis, and icy cold coconut juice.
I have decided to not single any other staff member out , as to us they where all fantastic.
The food was delicious, delivered with a smile, afternoon cocktails were a lovely touch. Dinner was a social event, drinks and chats with the other guests ,before heading off to our corner table for a lovely dinner.
I think we were so blessed to have met Lori & Louis , honeymooning, and then to have been in on Roberts secret engagement proposal to the beautiful Reana, and to welcome them back from there Island picnic/ proposal with Robert yelling " she said yes" We all celebrated for them,& with them, a Kava night, dancing, then a curry dinner, FANTASTIC.
Snorkelling on the Great Reef, was breathtaking, a sandbar picnic, a must, a church visit ,humbling,we really can't thank everyone enough for the most beautiful way we were treated , it was a most amazing 10 days. The people on Nukubati are just beautiful, never forgetting your name or what you drank, these beautiful Fijian people are dedicated to looking after you and always with a smile. This is a magical place .
Come with a smile on your face greet everyone with warmth and you will have the same returned in 10 times more.
Thankyou to Gordon ( I know i said no names, ) but such a gracious host.
Thankyou for my Birthday cake, delicious, and a lovely touch. xxxxx

Room Tip: Of course the honeymoon bures were lovely , but we were very comfortable in a beachfront bure

It's hard to add value to the outstanding reviews of Nukubati, so I will focus on what might not have been clear through the previous reviews.
But first of all: Nukubati is indeed a truly special - if not to say - magical place, that we are very happy we found. We got engaged on the island and the staff made it the most special and intimate event possible. The whole team supported me in the preparation, felt with us and celebrated with us.
To confirm what others have said: Nukubati is unique because of its staff. They make you feel a part of their daily Fijian life with their smiles and laughter. Every day starts with a personal welcome by your first name from every single staff member. Sera and Sena, Levi, Lotta and Willy, just to mention a few people will make you feel so welcome.
We believe the magic of Nukubati comes from 3 things, which are also the reasons, I would not recommend it to everyone:
1. The island is truly remote. It will take you a more or less inconvenient connection by a small 10-seater plane, a rough 1h car ride through some wilderness and a short boat ride to get there. Is it worth it? Absolutely. If you are looking for solitude and for remoteness. If not, this place is not for you.
2. The cabins/bures are very basic. If you are travelling around the world to get to Nukubati, the lack of air conditioning, the basic bathroom set-up, the lack of strong wifi or phone signal and TV, might put you off. For us, our sleep quality was impacted for sure: the mosquitoes definitely come out and the fans can not cool you down like AC. But while this requires some adjustment, it really make the place so special. I believe if it had these things, it would not feel so remote, it would not let you relax like it does.
3. The island is small and you become very close with all other guests. As you are passing everyone on the island several times a day and the bures are close to one another, everyone greets each other, chats and laughs. For us this was perfect and we loved our fellow couples. If you are not so social and dont want to interact with other guests, it might be a little tough to get away on the small island.
So, in the end it comes down to trade-offs: tough journey vs solitude, ammenities vs relaxing, friedliness vs too much socializing.
I do think guests who decide for Nukubati automatically select it for these reasons and that's why the people who spend their time there, do enjoy it so much. Yes, small things could be improved: no water in the car for a 1h car ride - or the mosquito nets around the beds should be big enough not to be decoration but actually could be used. But these are very minor things that do not spoil the overall excellent experience.
While you are there, make sure you take part in the Coconut Story, the Fijian BBQ and the once-in-a-lifetime sandbank picnic. We can only recommend the island to everyone who is looking for that one special spot. Especially if you are making a long trip to get to Fiji, I do think this will make you feel like you are experiencing the real authentic Fiji. Go there and laugh with Sera and the whole team - you will never forget the experience.

Room Tip: Bure No. 7 is the last one and has the most intimacy.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to travel to Nukubati for our honeymoon. We were immediately greeted at the airport by a friendly staff member from the island. That was only the beginning of our amazing experience. Jenny and her entire staff made us feel welcome and at home right from the start. Every staff member knew our names and if you need something, all you have to do is ask any staff member and they will help you. We had the privilege of getting to know everyone better; whether it was taking part in their volleyball games or local customs and rituals. We also made some wonderful friends with other guests.
Our private bure was more than what we expected with a front and side deck, private deck behind the main bure, enormous bathroom, and all steps away from the beach with our own chairs and umbrella.
We cannot speak highly enough of the food offered. It was top quality local cuisine, and if you preferred something different, all you have to do is ask. You can also have a private dinner on the beach.
The activities ranged from kicking back and relaxing, to a private picnic on a sand bar in the middle of the ocean, to scuba diving/snorkeling, and even octopus hunting. You can do as much or as little as you want.
To Jenny and her staff-thank you so much for making our honeymoon an incredibly wonderful memory and for making us feel like family. We're already planning our 5 year anniversary trip back!!
With love,
Cara & Erik

Room Tip: Spring for a private bure!

This is a long over due review and for that I apologise. Your awards are so deserved a 5* place to holiday.

We went to Nukubati, Fiji in March 2013 to get married flying from the UK. This is the most amazing place for a holiday and a wedding. Gordon, Sena and all the staff made our day so amazing they put so much into making sure we had the wedding day of our dreams. They spent the days prior to the wedding preparing the whole place for us. We wanted a beach wedding (which we had) but it had been raining so we were prepared to move the ceremony inside and that area was beautifully dressed. There was so many flowers everywhere, around the bure we were staying in, the beach i just remember so many flowers. On the day the sun came out for us and I had warriors, the village choir and our dream wedding. There was nothing I would change from the pretty flowers for my bouquet hand made by Sena to the wonderful evening. We had Fijian singing, dancing, cava and the most wonderful food. Our day was filled with love and laughter. Sena made sure all the paperwork was in place when we arrived and we did all the legal paperwork on route when we landed. Everything was taken care of.

We stayed in total for 10days and it was paradise. The service, food and location is second to none. Everyone went out of their way to make sure our holiday was a dream. We spent time snorkelling under the watchful eye and guidance of Lotte. She helped me get back in the water after 4years and was on hand when we went out to the sea reef. That is a must as there was so many pretty fish and we saw a shark. (He was below us and just swam away, but still a memory I will keep) We had a trip to the sandbank for our romantic picnic again a great time.

We stayed in the honeymoon bure which was amazing with the beach and sea just metres away from you. The food is locally sourced and the menu reflects what is available. Remember you will be served the best quality meals. Just don't drink the Chunky monkey cocktails as that night we managed to use up the banana supply and there was no bananas for the next day! Gordon is a great host and on hand with any questions/queries you might have. The team just want you to have a great holiday.

There is Internet available from the pavilion, a little slow, but hey you are on holiday so just pop back later on and try again. This is a place to relax, with Fijian massages recommended and things to do and see around you.

If you are thinking about a holiday here or even a wedding, this is the most amazing place to be. To finish I would just like to thank Jenny and her wonderful team for making our wedding day the most perfect and our holiday amazing. Angela & Neil

Room Tip: The 2 honeymoon buries are just perfect.
