I've been to Palmlea several times and every time I leave, I can't wait to return. The setting is amazingly peaceful and relaxing, the food is amazing (its actually shocking how good the food is, considering the location/setting), and the owners are fantastic people that have created a real hidden gem. This area of Fiji is very under-visited, but I find it amazingly beautiful, friendly, and peaceful. If you are planning on visiting Savusavu, it is well worth your time to visit this side of the island and Palmlea.

We arrived to the Palmlea Lodge at the recommendation of our Adventure Tour guide who said "if you get to that side of the island, DO NOT miss the Palmlea Lodge for lunch". She wasn't kidding! After driving about 15-20 minutes down a trail, we arrived at the lodge which opened up to one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the world!

The guests were all in other areas when we arrived, so one of the owners, Joe, was a little surprised to see us pull in un-announced. However, without a flinch, he welcomed us to his amazing lodge. Shortly after, his wife and business partner, Julie arrived and gave us a wonderful tour of the property while their chef made us an amazing curry lunch! (Seriously, it was great--if you do go, make sure and try the curry!)

We were also able to take a hike down to their private jetty which also had great views of the neighboring islands and reef..

There's not much more that could be done to improve this place. The owners are present and very welcoming, service was wonderful, the view is THE BEST, they have available watersports, an amazing pool, great bures, I could go on and on!

Thanks Joe and Julie!

Thoroughly enjoyable! Joe and Julie are wonderful and interesting hosts. The staff
are a delight. The food is some of the best we have enjoyed in our 4 months in
Fiji.
It's a little off the beaten path but that is it's charm. Wondeful views, quiet, relaxing and
a very nice change from the "usual" resort.
We had a memorable Canada Day celebration...all the staff got into the spirit!

You have to stay to appreciate the planning and thoughtful touches that have gone into the creating of the paradise that is Palmlea,
The access road made us wonder... but the first glimpse put our mind at rest.
An affordable paradise, the pool is my favourite, the walk through the mangroves to the sea is a pleasure, it is uplifting to discover the owners would rather preserve the mangroves than build false sandy beaches. The gardens are relaxing, staff and owners delightful, food fresh and delicious....the total lack of noise at night made for a most relaxing sleep, and the night time swim under the stars very special

We love Palmlea - the location on the coast is beautiful - situated on a small hill overlooking the ocean. It's a perfect quiet retreat - with the best food in Fiji. We lazed by the pool, took day trips into town or out on the water and enjoyed Julie and Joe's company. As they are ex sailors, yachts drop in from all around the world providing new people to talk with - if you feel so inclined! The gardens are lovely and provide a lot of the organic fresh food - paw paws, pineapples, bananas and salads. We'll be back.

My wife and I were stuck an extra day on Vanua Levu when all flights were cancelled from Savusavu and we had to drive across the island to fly out of Labasa the next day. Our cruise company (Tui Tai) recommended we stay at Palmlea Farms Lodge and we loved it. Joe and Julie are gracious, friendly and knowledgable hosts and did everything possible to help us enjoy our unplanned "extra" day in Fiji. In addition to beautifully landscaped grounds and private bure cabins, there is also a top-class salt-water lap pool and an ocean jetty just 10 a minute walk away . But the real surprise is that such a small lodge has such an amazing restaurant. I am convinced that Palmlea Farms Lodge has the best menu on the island of Vanua Levu. They are open every day for lunch and for dinner when they have guests or for special bookings. I had an excellent lamb chop the size of a sirloin steak and my wife had a very good chicken pot pie. I wish we could have stayed an extra day to try some of their fresh seafood dishes or one of the pizzas cooked in a real pizza oven. Palmlea Farms Lodge is a real treat for travelers who want a relaxing break or a base to explore Vanua Levu. About 20 minutes from Labasa and less than an hour and a half from Savusavu, this is a top-class resort in anyone's book.

Travelling to visit Labasa with the family, 2 children aged 5 and 3, and grandparents, we couldn't have wanted for a lovelier and warmer welcome than the one we received from hosts Julie and Joe, and their staff Malti and Una and Inoke and Ganesh. The views from the lodge and bure over the mangroves and lagoon out to Kia Island were beautiful, and great for watching birds as the sunset. We enjoyed kayaking at their private jetty, and swimming in the beautiful 25 metre lap pool. They arranged a great day trip into Labasa for the family, visiting the markets and town, Naag Madir Temple with a stop off for lunch at the historic Grand Eastern Hotel. The bures were beautiful, stylish, and used local materials in surprising ways- to great effect. It was a great place to stay to see a part of Fiji that is not on the usual tourist list. It was a great experience- highly recommend a visit!
