This is a bit late review. We were there last October. Julie and Joe were not only friendly, but also excellent hosts. We loved them! Their staff (the chief and handyman) were the best! Foods were freshly cooked each day and delicious. Must try their goat curry. I'm salvating just thinking about it... =|* We had activities every day. They took us to a small village (Sevusevu if I remember correctly) to see the pearl harvest ladies and the charming villagers. It was an unique experience. They took us to town to the local fish markets, so forth. They even did Lovo just for the two of us. The view was breathtaking, overlook the bay (?). This is not a beach resort so no white sand beach. Though you can kayak to a small and isolate inlet, even then water isn't clear/clean enough to lay out or swim in my opinion. But there were other things to do besides being a beach bum. Julie's aloe vera plants saved my skin! I got sunburn very badly one day and she cut one of those leaves (?) right off and apply on my skin. Best medicine ever.

Room Tip: If it's not full, get one of the duplex ones closer to the main room. It gets quit dark at night...

Stunning setting off the beaten track but reasonably accessible, particularly by boat. If you want an anonymous resort with all mod cons, don't come here. But if you're looking for genuine hospitality and personal service, plus amazing meals from home grown produce supplemented with whatever comes off the boat that day, then Palmlea is heaven. The eco-credentials mean no air-con, rickety showers & a bit of wildlife in the rooms - but fans are provided & we grew fond of the geckos!
Did I mention the food...... Honestly folks, it is GOOD!

This place is definitely worth the extra effort to get there. We rented a four-wheel drive in Labasa and the car came in handy on our little coastal explorations.
It's a farm settled into a beautiful landscape and the owners seem to truly care about their guests. They only have a few bures, so you get plenty of exclusivity. Joe, the owner, is a jack of many trades. I believe he designed this whole place. Definitely chat him up. He has many incredible stories to tell.

Big star for the cooking; it's super delicious (best food I ate in Fiji). Almost everything you eat comes from the farm. Imagine: if you order a chicken in the morning, they most likely kill it the same day. Everything is absolutely tasty! (plus full bar).
Definitely ask to get taken out on a boat to a sand island (a little island few miles from the shore). Also do take hikes around the property. The nature is spectacular and the locals are incredible friendly and welcoming.

I have no negatives for this place; I only wish I could make it there again in my life. -J

A friend took me to Palmlea to go surfing. The track to the farm was even worse than the Fijian roads to Labasa, so it was quite unexpected to see such a delightful and cared for resort. yhe owners, Joe and Julie, are old yachties and full of tales of their years spent sailing around Micronesia. We ordered Pizza while still on the boat, on our way back from surfing the outer reef- just the way to cap off a great day. The only catch is the surf is an hour and a half away by boat and can be a bit fickle, but it doesn't feel a problem in such a sublime setting

Spent the weekend at Palmlea with a bunch of old friends and had a blast! The food is amazing...curries, pizza's, local fijian dishes and delicious deserts amongst others.... Hardest thing each day is deciding what to eat! We hired the "BUS" as Jo calls it their boat and spent the days boating around fishing, surfing, snorkelling, loads of fun!!! Thanks for the great weekend and extra 5kgs! All the best Uk

I have visited Palmlea Farms twice and can highly recommend it. The location opens up access to great surf, diving and snorkelling. Julie and Joe are the nicest hosts you could imagine. This part of Fiji is not visited by large numbers of visitors and yet the reefs and the sea around this location compare with anything else in the country. Mitch2481

We had a great time at Palmlea. The activies were varied and interesting - including a snorkeling trip to a sandbar which slowly was covered as high tide came in. We also took a trip to Labasa to see the market and town.

We enjoyed the wonderful fresh food. We also took cooking classes to learn how they prepared the food.

But the best part of the visit was spending time talking with the hosts Joe and Julie. What a wonderful couple with such interesting experiences.

Room Tip: They only have 3 bures which are next to each other.
