“Peaceful & scenic ”
Reviewed 13 July 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Upon arrival you are greeted by your hosts Lisa & Roy. Their welcoming smile & offering to look after your every need is maintained throughout your stay, if required otherwise they let you be in the privacy of your clean, fresh well maintained cottage. The cottage boasts beautiful polished timber floors. Plenty of milling areas for privacy for each family member. Comfortable lounges inside & outside table & chairs. Plus a bonus Queen size bed fully netted outside fir a quiet read or a moon lite nights sleep Fantastic surround views of ocean , mountains, gardens & wild life.
The walk on the beach is filled with interesting sights & treasures (sea dollar) which I had never seen before. The water was warm yet refreshing. Roy & Lisa's local knowledge is a bonus if you are wanting to explore Savusavu.

“Memorable Island Experience”
Reviewed 5 July 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Roy and Lisa's holiday cottage is a perfect retreat for those wanting the real island experience. It is completely self-sufficient and you won't want for anything. You are only 20 minutes from town so you can zip in for shopping or a meal very easily. The property is situated nicely and you just walk down the hill to the wonderful beach, which I did as an everyday ritual. The beach is flat, walkable and perfect for swimming. The hosts couldn't be more gracious. I hope to return!!

“Excellent-Absolutely Fabulous”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Actually I don´t know where to start. This was such a great experience and we totally loved to stay at the house for about 2 weeks. Roy and Lisa are great Hosts and help you where they can to make your stay a memorable one. The house itself is decorated with loving attention to detail. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could ever ask for. We were also quite suprised about the water quality. Roy and Lisa have a deep well for fresh Fijian water and you can drink it right from the tap. After tasting this you don´t want to go back to the bottled stuff. Roy and Lisa also taught us everything about coconuts, e.g. how to grate them to get delicous coconut cream. You can easily collect free coconuts right on the beach which is about 5 minutes Walking distance. We recommend that you rent a car from Savusavu! talk to Roy and Lisa about it as they have special arrangements with one of the providers to get a good discount.
On our next trip to Fiji we will definitely book again with Roy and Lisa!

Sekawa Beach Cottage

Sitting up on a hill that streches all the way down to Sekawa beach is this spacy self-contained cottage with comfortable verandahs on three sides. You are overlooking your own private slice of rainforest with the waters of Savusavu Bay shimmering in the distance. It is a short ten minutes stroll to a two kilometers long private beach lined with coconut trees .
There is a big chance that you will be the only person that is leaving footprints in the sand. Very rare to find, even in Fiji.

Set amongst a carefully maintained garden abundant with tropical fruit and flowers the only noises you will hear will come from the birds.

The main bedroom has a very comfortable kingsize bed.
If you prefer to be closer to nature and sleep with the sounds of the night there is also a queensize bed on the verandah under a mosquito net. Quite an experience especially when it rains outside.

There is a full kitchen completely equipped with everything that you will need to do your own cooking. Lisa will provide you with organically grown herbs and you will have fruit for desert from Lisa and Roy´s orchard.
If you are interested in Fijian cuisine then you should ask Kini, the owners house angel, to prepare her excellent Palusami, Miti or Curry accompanied by Roti for you. It is highly recommended.
Very likely Roy will ask you if you had already tasted Kava. You see, the full Fijian adventure happens here.

Dining tables are inside the house as well as on the deck where there is also a gas BBQ.
The tap water is safe drinking water as is comes from the houses own well.
There is a landline telefone in the house and wifi is available for a small charge. TV, CD and DVD player and a wide range of books are there for your distraction.
Ceiling fans in the living room, kitchen and verandah as well as an airconditioning unit in the sleeping room keep you cool, although you are in the tropics. Also you will benefit from the natural breeze as the house sits in an elevated position.

Sheets and towels are duplicated, so first of all you do not have to wash. This increases the holiday mood. Of course there is also a washing machine and a dryer , which is very convenient for private laundry.

When we arrived the house was beautifully decorated with bouquets and in the background we heard insinuating Fijian music. The first impression
was: guests are very welcome here.

Lisa and Roy are wonderful hosts. They live in the house next door. They are very helpful with any questions you have about daytrips around Vanua Levu and about the traditional way of live here.
Sekawa Beach Cottage is a place where you will feel home at once.

“Hope to return soon”
Reviewed 20 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Our stay at the Sekawa Beach Cottage was just what we needed. It was peaceful and quiet and the cottage had everything we needed, including an interesting selection of good books and plenty of lovely fresh fruit grown on the property. Being up in the hills above Savu Savu meant the evenings were a more comfortable and we weren't woken up by early traffic noise.
A bus ride down into Savu Savu gives a taste of local life and a taxi ride back is an easy way to get 'home' again.  We certainly hope we can return soon.
