After spending a very pleasant and relaxing two weeks here, all I have to say is how brilliant, friendly and generous all the staff and management at the Daku resort were. From the moment we got to the resort after our long flights, we felt instantly at home... With the transfers from the airport being perfectly on time (unlike usual in Fiji where you have to wait for ages for anything) ... To arriving at the hotel where we were greeted with with very friendly staff and beautiful coconut drinks. All this cultural yet homely atmosphere was brilliant within hours of arrival. From here we went to the room which was beautifully decorated and with working air con. From the next day we got to appreciate the beautiful surroundings around the pool and got to embrace the friendly atmosphere, meeting people from all different backgrounds, countries etc. Furthermore ... It was a place where everyone could fit in... Whether you were alone on a diving holiday, waning a romantic getaway to a family adventure ... Daku could cater for all. Special mention to Dehlia and Jj the owners... Who are always around and happy to go the extra mile to make your stay as perfect and as memorable as possible... If you want honest opinions of what trips in savusavu are worthwile and those that are a little pricey ... He will tell you honestly and help stretch your money as far as it will go whilst you're away whilst been able to truly experience the beautiful Fiji... And his wife holds amazing morning yoga sessions which really set you up for the day and ensure you make the most of your Holiday as she caters for all experiences in terms of her yoga classes, and with such beautiful views from the yoga platform when the sunrises .... There really isn't anywhere more stunningly beautiful. Thanks Daku and all your staff.... We will be back!!!

Daku is a beautiful and peaceful place. We stayed in a roomy cabin with a deck that looks out at the ocean, the sunsets were amazing. The owners JJ and Delia are cool people, they are experts on all things Fiji, and well traveled so you're sure to hear some good stories. The staff were so friendly, and great with kids, they looked after our young kid so we could go diving (Game of Thrones fans, ask for Kalisi). They also do traditional Fijian massage and art at very affordable prices. The food was delicious and the communal meals allowed us to dine with the likes of local businessmen, diving and fishing enthusiasts, yogis, and distinguished academics. It was like no other place we've ever stayed, and we'll definitely go back the next time we're in Fiji.

We just returned from a week long family holiday at Daku. Its a very relaxed resort. Owned by the colourful warm hearted JJ and the lovely Delia, the staff are friendly and welcoming. We had a great room, with large deck, plunge pool and a fantastic view. While lacking some "finishing touches", the room was fine. We loved the long table dining, and were very appreciative of the traditional lovo meal put on one night for us. We did our Padi dive course nearby which was really enjoyable too as well as spending time in town and watching a local rugby game.

Daku is what it says it is. It isn't five star by any means, and its best not to be too particular about things. Go with the flow, adopt Fiji time and enjoy the experience.

Room Tip: If you need something, just ask. There were a few things we didn't have but they were happy to help.

Enjoyed our 4 nights at Daku in June. The room was spacious with a fridge and kettle. The bathroom are enormous with a good size shower and hot water. The deck has table and chairs and the added bonus of a clothesline and pegs, We spent many pleasant hours sitting on the deck looking at the view.
Daku is about a 20 min walk into town. Can recommend Surf and Turf & Captains Cafe for dinner. Hot Springs hotel is worth a visit for a drink as the hotel has an excellent view from the deck.
For taxi tours ask for Jack to be the driver as his local knowledge is excellent.
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Sigh... We stayed for a week in June and no one wanted to go home.
Daku is such a casual, friendly resort. The staff are wonderful, smiling and friendly and always there if you need them. At meals, everyone eats at one long table, giving you the opportunity to meet your fellow guests and chat long into the night. The hosts, JJ and Delia, know everything there is to know about Savusavu and can arrange snorkeling adventures, beach picnics, sunrise yoga sessions and village visits at the drop of a hat. After one day you really do feel like you're part of the Daku family and 'home away from home' isn't a cliche anymore.

Daku certainly isn't one of those glittering resorts that you find around Nadi, but it has an honesty to it that makes it far more welcoming. You will certainly be spoiled at Daku (and if you can't find relaxation poolside at Daku you're not going to find it anywhere) and the charm of Savusavu (and it's distance from the tourist track) makes for the most genuine Fiji holiday experience around.

Meals were delicious, the weather was perfect, there was snorkeling in the water at the end of the resort drive, the rooms were cleaned each morning with fresh flowers everyday, the view was beautiful, the yoga platform was amazing. Spend some time up there. It reboots your soul.

Best. Holiday. Ever.

Room Tip: The Bayview villas have their own plunge pools!
