We stayed at Anchorage for 4 nights on a package deal (in a mountain view room). When we arrived we were driven down to our room (due to the reception being atop a steep hill). Our room was so much better than we had anticipated. It was clean, spacious, and when we stepped onto our patio we could see the garden, the palm trees and the ocean. We were close to the beach bar and restaurant as well but were never bothered by noise.

The staff were incredibly friendly and all introduced themselves to us throughout the first night and remember our names for the rest of our stay. The food was delicious. The drinks were delicious. There were daily activities held such as crab racing and a kava ceremony.

The overall atmosphere was excellent although the beach was crappy. We did however get money stolen from us whilst we were snorkelling on the Beachcomber Island Tour (but it was almost certainly fellow travellers rather than Fijians who did it). We did ask the manager to try and organise a dive or tour for us on our last night but it didn't get done.

Overall, I would stay here again and I recommend it as a nice resort to relax in (but not great if you really want to get out and see more of Fiji).

Bula,
Thank you for your positive review. We are always happy to receive positive feedback from guests about the property, staff, service and facilities. The Anchorage is indeed a wonderful place to relax and enjoy life whilst at the same time being a great base to explore the surrounding area and the islands.
We hope to see you again.

This resort looked great in the adverts and online however on approaching the driveway into the property I started to get worried. The road in is in a terrible condition. The first impression at reception was this is only a 3 star resort but the staff were lovely. The Mountain View room has a nice decor and is in line with the budget. The beds are really really firm and I advise - if you can take a favourite pillow with you - do it. The televisions are old and with no warning reception cuts and loud static appears. This is spasmodic and frustrating. The a/c is a blessing as it can get really hot. The temp was around 31 the whole 5 days in Fiji.
The pool and restaurant areas are ok and again, in line with a 3 star rating. Unfortunately you have no white sandy beach in front of the resort. Restaurant food is not of a high standard and the breakfast buffet pretty poor. Once again the staff are all pleasant and Mere a treat. Try the Boatshed at Vuda Pt which is a 10 minute walk a long the train track or a $5 cab ride. Taxi driver Junior who operates from the Resort is wonderful. Biggest dislike here is with other guests eg noise. Had a group of students arrive who were booked at sister Beachcomber Island but could not stay there as there had been a fire an accommodation unavailable. The noise from rooms was excessive and late night spa baths in use was unbearable. On one night after two phone calls (1:11am & 1:46am) to management who did nothing I had to visit personally to shut them up. Beachcomber Island visit was another nightmare. The Island is pretty and a real backpacker party place. We did the day trip and had late start out due to the transfer of the students out for the day. The staff here are great too and made us feel welcome. BUT due to the student transfer back to the resort we Resort guests were made to wait for a boat to come back to get us. Finally back to the resort just on 5:40pm after almost 7 hours on the Island. Never again. Would go to Denaru or Sigatoka if I went back. All in all you get what you pay for I suppose but no more "deals" for me.

Bula,
Thank you for your review, we are happy to hear that you found the property met your expectations in terms of the star rating that it is classified as. Again, it is nice to hear staff being complimented and yes, Junior is wonderful. Our apologies if other guests may have disturbed your stay and we will keep an eye on similar groups in future.

Great little Resort, great value for money and great staff.

Don't expect the hilton for the rooms, but we hardly spent anytime in our room. the staff couldn't help us enough. Si was great giving us all the local information on tours and places to visit and tours not to bother with. Clive was always a happy face to see in the morning, and his toasting ability. The entertainment was ok, but i didn't go for that, I was there to relax so this was a bonus.

The food is good and worth eating, but if you take a $5 taxi to the Boat-shed or even ask the resort to drop you off they will if they can for free. The food is good and its more like a outdoor pub with a great feel. We also took the time to eat at the First landing resort with with a really good Steak menu, well worth a visit. (we got the resort minibus to drop us off for free, but a taxi would be about $5)

I would recommend anyone going to make sure they book the tours they want to do ASAP, we missed out on the "Jewel of Fiji tour" because it was fully book. This tour was recommended as a must do.

There is a great couple of island trips you can do from the resort, this does cost, $75 fj for Beachcomber and $120 for South-sea. South Sea was great, the cost includes beer and soft drinks and a full BBQ lunch with loads of options. Beachcomber is closed at the moment due to a fire and reopening in August but still worth the trip. You get the whole Island to yourself and whoever is on your boat. You also get a free pack lunch and charge any drinks back to your room.

The Jet ski hire seams a little high and their not that forthcoming with information on what actually you do on the jet ski on a full-day safari. They told us we would get to visit 3 islands and South Sea island, but then just before we left they told us we couldn't go on any of the islands just pull up to look. We cancelled after finding out this, so the $570 fj was refunded.

We was told that he Mud baths tour was not worth it and to do it ourselves, we took a cab and visited the Mud baths and the sleeping giant. The taxi cost us $60 and he waited and took us home too.

We booked our holiday for four nights, through a deal I saw in the newspaper, we were to stay in a Mountain view room, airport transfers, breakfast and a day trip too beachcomber was included, making it great value for money. On arrival we were upgraded to a beachfront hotel room on the second floor. The room was tidy and clean. The first night we were pretty tired after our flight, and we had a VERY noisey group of Fijian Indians partying in the room next door, T.V blaring, banging and singing. I ventured next door and politley asked if they could keep the noise down, but It continued (3.30am), I phoned reception and they did there best, but it was a sleepless night for us!! Thank goodness they checked out the following day. The air conditioning was also making a banging whirring sound and pumping out hot rather than cold air and the fan didn't work, but our lovely cleaning lady noticed this, and a call to the repair man..... bless him, everything was sorted quickly, even installed a brand new fan.
Would highly recommend a walk down to the vuda marina, it takes about 15 minutes, a pleasant walk down the sugar train track,or taxi there for $5. There is a yacht club there with a lovely bar and an awesome menu.... and cheap! There is also a small shop, with a good range of basic supplies, The atmosphere at the Anchorage is laid back and relaxing, the staff are lovely, and we found all our meals were nice quality, it is very 'rustic', and more of a fiji experience than the five star resorts at Denarau. The trip to Beachcomber was well worth it, and the snorkelling and fish life great. We also took advantage of the free ride up to Lautoka, the markets are worth a look to see the locals and the different fruits, veges and spices!!. I shopped in a local material shop and picked up some gorgeous fijian cloth at local prices to make a table cloth and pillows for my outdoor furniture at home.
A pleasant stay, and would not hesitate to stay again....

Room Tip: The Mountain View rooms are probably quieter, up the hill and away from the restaurant, pool, and tr...

As our first trip to a Fiji resort I had no idea what to expect & was nervous to be w/out something. I packed extra towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap just to be on the safe side. We were pleasantly surprised to find ALL provided by the resort.

Keeping in mind it's a 3 star resort : Rooms had high ceilings, AC and fans & were cleaned every day.TV is small but has a number of channels, my husband particularly liked the Lotus one I think (24hr movies) as we happened to stay in one day due to the weather. A small bar fridge with a chiller box was just enough to place our drinks in to cool.Bed is king size though quite firm.

Beachcomber day trip took up one of the days, though we hadn't planned for it, we decided to book once we inquired about it with the staff on hand. And we're glad we did it.
Beachcomber resort seems to be more suited to the backpacker, young, single & party type which was not for us and we are glad we hadn't chosen to stay there

The pool bar is managed by staff from the main bar so it's not always manned & doesn't have a fridge. It made sense though, because the time we were there, there weren't many people in the pool who wanted bar service.Either way staff were more than happy to come down and serve.

The pool is open to locals so if it's a public holiday in Fiji you may see a few locals down at the pool and it really gives an authentic feel to the place as you mix and mingle with different people, and it's nice to see different faces about.
The evening entertainment is great as well. The 2 men singing 'real' songs as well as other dancing entertainment etc.

I called reception RE:security one evening for some disturbance that was going on and they responded straight away which was good to see - felt safe.

THE STAFF ARE EXCEPTIONAL - bar/restaurant,chefs,reception & cleaners made you feel MORE than welcome. These people are genuinely willing to help you and we bonded with them during our stay. We were quite upset to leave them and while waiting at the airport, every local that would walk past we would think they were one of the staff we had met - Mere, Buna, Clive, small chef lady, guy always cutting the grass everytime we walked down for breakfast... They made our experience in Fiji an unforgettable one :D

However,my hubby and I feel the management brought great shame to the place. They were at the restaurant/bar area just about every night during our stay, socialising and flaunting loudly about their travels. We were not impressed at all. We would sometimes over hear them ordering something from the staff in a rude manner. In our opinion if you're management and you're wanting to socialise, do it somewhere else. If you're wanting to keep an eye on your business, then do it quietly behind the scenes.

We booked this room on wotif (I'm not sure if I would pay full price?) the room was spacious and nicely set out with a large bathroom and double vanity. The pool is nice with a swim-up bar and beach area to relax. The restaurant has nice views and the food was resonably priced although it is a rather Indian inspired menu. I wouldn't like to have stayed in the rooms up the top of the resort but there was a pool up there as well. Free buses to lautoka or Nadi daily was useful and wifi in the restaurant area made another excuse to go for a drink. Overall a nice place to stay where there is always something going on and activities on offer.

This is my second visit. We stayed for four nights. The staff were welcoming and friendly...and remembered our names!
We arrived on an early flight so waited by pool with a drink. We were given an option of a room upstairs or down. The room was clean and tidy when ready. Did not need to use the aircon.
The staff helped us hire a car from a local company the next day so no need to travel to airport to pick it up. The car was well kept. We went to explore the Coral Coast.

The next day we went for a trip to Beachcomber. Well worth the visit as Anchorage does not have swimming beach or white sand.
It was my birthday so staff gave me a cake at dinner which was lovely.

The next day we went sailing on the Seaspray.

Never had a problem with the hill as all transport picked us up near the restaurant.

This is an affordable place to base yourself and do day trips. The staff accommodated all our requests.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms by pool and restaurant the best
