Lautoka has nothing much to see so it will be a best place for you, it is not too big but just right. If you are looking for a place than this I would recommend. Spacious, away from the hustle and bustle and peaceful!! for the rooms are cheap but best there to offer!! very affordable!! just walking distance to town and back...
You might wanna take your beach towels with you though cause i do not think they have any..
But great food and great staff..love the peaceful environment and the atmosphere!!

Room Tip: Go for the Executives if you are travelling with your partner or if travelling with the family, you might one to book for separate rooms for the kids!! go for the ground floor!!

Lautoka is a much cleaner, more spacious centre than other major towns around Fiji, although rubbish is still a problem. It is much less touristy than Suva or Nadi and easy to get around. It is the sugar capital, and therefore long trains bearing cane harvests come to the local processing site. It has a lovely water front with good views. Our room was fine, with a balcony overlooking a pool and fitness centre. We were in the older section on the first floor. The staff generally were lovely, apart from the receptionist who saw us in. He took my husband's credit card for a pre-approval (or whatever it is called), and then asked for it again for purposes of payment for incidentals during our stay (5 days) - we both heard him. That night we had drinks in the bar, and charged back to our room, and then we ate in the dining room (very ordinary - I filled in a suggestion slip to say the sauce was very bland). At the end of the meal dining room staff checked to see that we could charge to the room, and my husband was told that we didn't have authority to do so. He had to pay on the spot and then went to speak to the receptionist. As he was leaving the receptionist loudly advised his co-worker that we had made no such arrangement! Presumably he had not pressed the correct button on his computer. Needless to say, we did not use any of the dining or bar facilities for the rest of our stay - preferring to have breakfast at Gingers or the Chilli Tree and lunch or dinner at the Lautoka Hotel. To get back to the Tanoa - we really appreciated the self-service laundry facility. Quality of presentation of linen seems to be a problem in Fiji generally - apart from the Bedarra Hotel! The sheets etc. seem to be stained rather than actually dirty. The hotel had a range of television stations, and Foxtel; it is right across the road from the promenade, and next door to a good park which offers good spots for sitting and musing. The hotel is building on new rooms. Lautoka has a great food market and a number of supermarkets. There is a newish restaurant near theTanoa Waterfront called The Lounge which caters for Mexican, Japanese and Italian cuisine. There's not a great deal to do in Lautoka, so one day we took a bus to Nadi and then to Denerau, just to see where the tourists go. Bus travel is very cheap in Fiji and although the bus stations seem absolutely hectic and noisy, it is very much organised chaos and buses leaving for numerous destinations fairly regularly. Day trips are easily conducted without the need to take a taxi.

Room Tip: We were quite happy with our second floor room in the older part.

We recently stayed at The Waterfront and the rooms were lovely and clean, and spacious. The location was great also. The bathrooms need a bit of a facelift but they were clean. But what made our stay special was the staff. They were fantastic. Very helpful and very friendly. They made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Every morning it was a happy greeting and that continued until the end of our day. The need a pay rise because they made our stay so special! You guys ROCK!!!!!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the pool and it was lovely and quiet but I'm guessing that they would all be ok. The bathrooms need a bit of a face lift but they were clean.

My wife, children and I stayed at the Tanoa Waterfront hotel from the 6th of July to 9th of July, 2103. Our stay was brilliant. It was almost as if we were at home. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. And the staff ? What do I say. They were very helpful and always ready to please. From Narend the manager to Priya in the restaurant to Junior in the bar and everyone in between. They made our stay so good that we are looking forward to going back soon. So to all the team at Tanoa Waterfront, a big Vinaka and hope to see you all soon. To all the visitors wondering about this hotel, don't. I recommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for an Executive suite which is in the new wing.

I stayed here for a total of eight nights on a recent business trip. The hotel could do with a good make-over. The new Executive rooms and swimming pool are steps in the right direction. Elsewhere the hotel feels rather tired. The restaurant is rather over-priced, especially given the newer eating possibilities in the town. The hotel is well situated on the sea front but close to the centre. The staff are very helpful and pleasant.Room costs are very reasonable.

Room Tip: Shell out a bit more and go for the Executive room
