“An absolutely fabulous place!”
Reviewed 6 January 2014

We visited this resort for several days before joining a dive boat in Fiji in early December 2013. We had a bure right on the beach (I forget the number...4?) and it was absolutely perfect! We went diving every day with Mere and Keenie and they were first rate! The diving in Fiji is unbelievably wonderful and the dive masters made extra sure that we had the best sites in the best conditions. The food at Wananavu is also really excellent. There is nothing wrong with this place. The only problem is that we had to leave. I would go back in a minute, if given the choice.

The hotel staff are very friendly and the rooms are very well kept. The hotel site is very scenic with walkways around the site, to beaches, and around the marina. Vicky and Chris are great dive guides and took us to some nice sites with pinnacles and coral barrier reefs around small atolls. The fish life is abundant.

We have been coming to this place over the years and it just gets better,on this trip about a third of the guests are returning for a second or third or even more visits.Under the new General Manager lots of improvements have been made, the staff are happy which makes your stay better the food is really good suggest going on the meal plan which gives you a rich choice of needs . We had a young couple from the US he was a personal trainer and ate 5 or 6 times a day no problems plus the two of them mixed in . Father Xmas showed up this year but not sure how he went at 35c temp in the red suit.
The drive from Nadi is easy now as the road is sealed all the way and very good the only thing is you have to make a small detour around a bridge that is being rebuilt.
I will not go thru all of the staff a everybody bends over backwards to make your stay great still they remember everyones names. Its been hot but the way the place is designed it is easy to stay cool.
NOW A FEW THINGS YOU MUST DO
1. Island picnic
2.Culture talk from one of the elders of the local village
3.Waterfall trip
4.Sure all the water sports
5.Have a cocktail made by MA
6.Please be polite ( some people from Europe who live in Suva not so nice)
7.Ok to drink the resort water as the desal plant produces as good as or better than bottled water
8. Take a trip into RAKIRAKI about a 15 minute taxi ride costs about $20 fiji and buy some local stuff the shoe shop in the town has some great prices on summer footwear, also all the ANZ and Westpac bank plus a local in town.
9. Just relax its FIJI TIME.
When in town everybody just says BULLA its really great. The honeymoon Buras are great with private pools but all of the burrs have great views with the housekeeping keeping all spotless.
To ALLAN ,BEATO OUR THANKS

Room Tip: Really the ocean view or if a big group the VILLA on the hill

I have been meaning to write this review and I have finally gotten around to do it. This is the most amazing place I have ever visited. My wife and I decided to get married there January 2013. The moment we got on the island, it was a very scenic ride tot he resort. It is easily a 2 hour ride but VERY worth it. You get to see how the island really is, plus you pass the Fiji Water factory.

From our first meal there, all of the staff remembered our names and greeted us whenever they saw us. Since we were the only wedding that week, they treated us like royalty. Keleni was our wedding planner and did a fantastic job, we couldn't have pictured having a better ceremony.

The room was incredible. We stayed in the honeymoon bure with the ocean view. Just breath-taking. You would wake up every morning and walk out on your deck (with your own personal pool!) and just look at the smaller islands out in the distance.

We were very hesitant at first before booking Wananavu but it was just simply the best. We definitely plan on making another trip in a few years for an anniversary.

We got married in Wananavu August 2012 and it was the best place we could have picked. the wedding and the stay was so fantastic all of the guests get emotional when we talk about it! it was such a memorable experience and it truly is a piece of paradise.

I love the it is away from all the tourist spots and is very quite. We didnt even really see anyone else other than our family and friends. The place is absolutely calm and quiet and peacefull.. Looks very natural and not so manmade like some of the other resorts. you have the beauty of the beaches on the expensive and remote islands but on the mainland. The rooms are traditional looking which is great. We stayed in a beachfront honeymoon bure & our family in the other and we all loved it. The staff and the service make this place even a better experience as they all remembered your names ( all 20 of us ) after the first day and we sooooo wonderful. The resort management Rachel & Ben ( who have now left I believe and has changed hands, were so welcoming and so very helpful with all the wedding arrangements. I hope the new management is just as wonderful. I can talk for hours about how much i love this place and highly recommend it to anyone. It is truley an experience. The food and the spa were also fantastic.

The only thing that could improve is the internet. It would be great if it was free too! and the coffee. we had really bad coffees there and were dying to get home to have a proper coffee.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the honeymoon or beachfront bures 100% worth the extra money.

My husband and I recently spent a week at Wananavu for our belated honeymoon and to celebrate our first anniversary. From the moment we arrived to when we left every staff member was warm and welcoming and called us by our first names. They surprised us on our anniversary and created a very special and memorable night for us which we can't thank them enough for.
The resort is incredibly relaxing and peaceful and offers great snorkelling.
Don't be daunted by the drive from the airport - see it as a free sightseeing tour of Fiji.
We were on the meal plan which worked for us as we liked that all meals were prepaid. The meal plan includes A LOT of food which we couldn't always eat but we still felt that we were getting good value.
We thoroughly enjoyed everything about our time at Wananavu and hope to return soon!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Ocean View Bure which offered great views of the garden, ocean and islands.

If you're looking to get away from the tourist zone, head to Rakiraki and stay at Wananavu. My husband and I visited for a 10 night stay in late September/early October, and we were very impressed with the resort. The staff is professional and courteous. Grounds are well maintained, and rooms are cleaned daily. We opted to stay in one of the beachfront bures (#6), and was very pleased that we did.

The food was better than expected. We had the meal package and did not go hungry. Truly, every meal was very good. You won't go wrong picking the specials of the day for lunch and dinner. Also, don't miss out on happy hour with the best view of the gorgeous Fijian sunsets.

We were there to dive and the onsite dive op, Dive Wananavu was also top notch.
This was the cleanest and most organized dive operation that we have encountered. The dive managers, Chris and Vicky were very nice people and very easy to talk to. They really enjoy what they do and want their customers to have a great time diving in Fiji. The dive guides were a lot of fun and all had good personalities and a great sense of humor.

We really enjoyed ourselves at Wananavu. We would definitely come back. Fiji is a beautiful country with lovely, happy people.

Room Tip: Beachfront bures are the way to go!
