This is a small resort south of the airport, about $25 taxi fare. Good rooms, great pool for relaxation. OK for couples, but not much there for kids. The restaurant is expensive, so we ate mostly at the nearby food trucks or in downtown Papeete. Good local bus into town but it doesn't run in the evening.

We arrived at 7:30 a.m. and the staff were very helpful to get us an early check in, especially good with jet lag and no sleep on our overnight flight.

Room Tip: Wifi seems only available in the lobby, but our room was close so we could pick it up in our room...

Last week we returned from Oceania cruise of French Polynesia. We stayed one night on arrival and one night before departing at the Manava Suite Resort. We found the facility very nice, staff friendly and accomodating. On arrival check-in is at 2pm, so we changed into swim suits and sat at their small beach until check-in. It is a small beach area...they really need more chairs for the clients when it is busy before a cruise. Our room was spacious and bathroom lovely. Breakfast is expensive for the buffet - but cheaper than other hotels in the area. Friends spent several nights at the beginning of the cruise at the Intercontinental and changed on the return. They said for the price difference they wished they had stayed at the Manava. It is not luxury, but it is charming and has a lovely relaxed feel to it. The infinity pool area with view to Moorea is fabulous!

Room Tip: We had the cheapest room facing the street - was noisy during the day but not at night.

We stayed at the Manava Suites for two days at the end of our trip to French Polynesia. The Manava Suites was chosen as it was cheaper than other options yet its facilities and rooms appeared new, modern and chique.

On the day of our check-in we had flown in from Moorea and transfered to the hotel by taxi. The hotel is not overly far from FAAA airport, but it is slightly further than most of the other brand name resorts in the area. The taxi transfer from the airport was not cheap however.
Check in proceeded smoothly and without problem. There was a lovely topless porter who assisted us with our luggage promptly which was appreciated. His 'uniform' correlated with the Polynesian theme of the Manava Suites.
Our room was quite spacious and appointed with a flat screen TV, a mini fridge and air conditioning. The bathroom and the shower were spacious, whilst being decorated in the 'tribal' Polynesian Manava theme. The toilet is in a separate room with its own wash basin.
Unfortunately there was no WiFi available in the rooms (only in the lobby), and as our room overlooked the road (it was one of the cheaper rooms offered) there was no appreciable view either. If you do wish to stay at the Manava for a longer period, I would recommend booking one of the rooms overlooking the
swimming pool on the top floor as the sunsets and the views to Moorea island are fantastic.

Feeling hungry after check-in (it was mid afternoon) we ventured down to the restaurant for something to eat. We found that it was closed. Enquiring if there were other eating options around, we were informed that there was nothing nearby. This was a bit of a disappointment as most hotels
have at least something available for guests at all times of the day. As we did not have a rental car, we walked around on foot to track down options outside. The problem with the Manava is that it is rather isolated in suburbia of sorts and the only option we could find on foot was a
small supermarket about 3 minutes walk away. After a supermarket lunch, we explored the facilities at the Manava as it was too late to do anything else. The grounds are well kept and decorated tastefully. The best feature of the Manava has to be its pool area at the back of the hotel.
A large infinty pool with a sandy beach area forms the basis for the Manava's 'resort' claims. There are sunbeds with umbrellas laid out on the sand area along with a swim up bar in the pool. Everything faces the island of Moorea and at all times is a very nice and interesting view.
The pool itself is quite large but it can get a bit busy with families and their children, but no major problems. The number of sunbeds available can be a problem depending on how long you wish to stay at the pool, as the sandy area is not extremely large. Although we found a pair of beds
relatively quickly, there were definately no empty beds at any time during our stay there.

Surrounding the pool area there are walkways over the shallows of the sea where more sunbeds are available. These could be a good option if you wanted a little more privacy and quiet relaxation. If you do stay at the Manava make sure you see a sunset from the Manava pool.
With the infinity pool and the island of Moorea as a backdrop, the sunset colours are quite enjoyable.

Without any other options around we had dinner in the hotel restaurant that night. It was quite empty and no reservation was required. The food was reasonable however quite expensive for what it was. This leads me to another problem with the Manava. The only other dining options are roulottes (food vans)
that appear about a block away later in the evening. If you have a rental car then it isnt a problem to drive to the main city and enjoy some of the dining options there. However we did not have a rental and to get to the city it is around a 3000 XPF taxi ride (each way). There is a hotel shuttle available
(which also has a charge, and is not that different to the taxi option for 2 persons) however it only runs at very limited times.

The only other irregularity I found at the Manava was the toilet in the room. For some strange reason, the bowl has been mounted to a raised platform with the result being that when you are seated your feet cannot touch the ground! My partner is 5'6 and her feet couldn't touch the ground. Manava please explain ha ha!

To conclude we enjoyed our stay overall at the Manava Suites. Staff are helpful and even allowed me to have a late shower in a spare room after checkout before the flight home. The few things such as the transfer costs and its location cannot be helped, as most things are expensive in French Polynesia.
If the restaurant or food options could be available all the time (at more reasonable prices) it would be a very good place to stay whilst you are in Papeete.

We stayed there for 2 nights, very beautiful resort with an amazing infinity pool. The room includes a nice kitchen and a really nice balcony. The restaurant was quite expensive but so is everything else in French Polynesia :)
Staff was super friendly and very helpful, we would stay there again in the future.

Nice property with good service and reasonable rates (for Tahiti). The rooms are very modern and spacious. Infinity pool is great. Restaurant is good.

My only issues with the hotel were: no WiFi in the rooms, only an ethernet cable. and no english language tv stations. I know, you don't go to Tahiti to watch tv or surf the internet, but we like to stay connected no matter where we are.

Room Tip: Avoid a ground floor room unless you're not bothered by people walking by and looking into your...

We started our trip to the French Polynesian Islands at this hotel. Our stay was unfortunately very short (we arrived midnight and checked out by 10 am the next morning) so I can't give too many details. The rooms were clean and well looked after and the view from the pool area looking onto the Island of Moorea was perfect. The proximity was close to the FAAA (airport) but still quiet, as was the surrounding area. Recommended.
