The Hotel has mixed reviews for a reason. It is not a place to stay for more than a night. It is about a 20 to 30 minute drive (fast Taxi) from the airport or port (2700XPF one way). The lobby is uncomfortable, a little dirty and neglected and there is really not much to do besides laying in a lounge chair by the pool. The rooms are comfortable, as they should be for the money, but it is not a 4 Star hotel. The restaurant for dinner does not open until 7 PM, which is hard for the weary traveler who arrived on the 5 am flight and did not sleep on the plane from LA. The food at the restaurant and for breakfast is overpriced and not very good. There should be other places to eat in a hotel of this size and star-rating. There is a little Pizza Place right outside the hotel entrance which has good Pizzas and opens at 6 pm. I would recommend eating there. All in all it is an ok place to rest and move on to other Islands or your cruise.

I thought we were going to one of the best hotels on Tahiti, maybe we did. However if this is the best they can do it falls short of the mark.

We arrived in the evening about 2140 maybe a little later. Nothing left to do but go to bed. The room had the expected damp musty smell, however opening the balcony door and cranking up the air con soon got rid of that.

Breakfast in the morning was average, standard fare. I was expecting better.

The whole hotel is just dated and tired.

The bed was very good though and sleeping was fine the room was also a good size.

The staff were very helpful and informative.

The evening meal was again disappointing. The service was good and the food was fine, just ordinary and what I would expect from an average hotel.

We flew out to Bora Bora after 2 nights stay and the hotel kept one of our bags for us until we returned.

Our second short stay was overnight on our return to Australia. We arrived in the afternoon, had a second uninspiring evening meal and went to bed early for our 0430 pick up to go to the Airport.

This is where, in my opinion, the hotel lets itself down.

This timing is the normal time for the only flight of the day to New Zealand and connections to Australia. It has been this time for ever. People have been staying at this hotel and been catching this flight for ever. The hotel made no attempt to provide anything prior to the pick up. No coffee or croisant etc while we were waiting for the pick up.

As this happens every day I would have thought the hotel would do this for their guests.

Also the whole time period we were there, from original arrival and trip to Bora Bora and the return stay, the hotel was picketed by staff on strike.

SOme of the drivers would not drive through the picket line and dropped us off at the trade entrance, from where we had to find our way back into the hotel.

All in all the hotel seems to have missed a few points on what service is. They could learn from what happens on Bora Bora.

Room Tip: Choose the Intercontinental.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to a cruise to the Marquisa islands and for a night after our holiday. Had read mixed reviews about the hotel but found it very acceptable. The location is good, the staff helpful, the accommodation of a high standard.
Don't expect to be handy for Papeete town, you are 7-8 miles out but Le Truck will get you there very reasonably but doesn't seem to run very often. ( remember the islands are french and they like long lunch hours) There's a supermarket just down the road so it's easy to stock up on cold drinks and snacks. The dance show was good, better by far that the one we saw in Moorea.

Perhaps we were lucky?

We stayed here with a late flight into Papeete prior to flying out to Bora Bora - the closest mainstream hotel to the airport is the Intercontinental and that would have been preferable given the time spent in transferring.

Hotel is old, not overly well maintained, rather underwhelming for a Starwood property.

Breakfast buffet selection was okay but nothing exceptional and the whole restaurant area is looking really tired.

So comfortable and add in spectacular ocean views...stayed two times in the past month. Staff very accommodating and lots of local events held there that are open to guests of the hotel. Absolutely NO comparison to the Four Seasons...but for the area this property and the Intercontinental seem to be the only options
