Visited for a meal with family. We'd not been for some years and liked the reworked space & decor. Service is reasonably professional, if rather slow and pretty dour - generally good to at least try and smile at customers occasionally.

Sadly the food was just awful, my lemon sole cooked we beyond death and smothered in an overpowering sauce, even the steaks were poor, a usually safe choice - dry and tasteless. Trying to do far too many dishes (a common fault in Gambia) with far too little skill.

In short - nice decor, but cut the menu down to max 4 or 5 dishes for each course & get a new chef !

We ate at the Gaya twice during our two week stay. The setting is really nice with paintings and other arty items for sale. The cocktails are very well made and the service is attentive. All the dishes we tried were really tasty and we did not have to wait long between courses....Thoroughly recommended.

When you're finally getting use to The Gambia and think you've seen it all - pay the Gaya Art Cafe a visit. Stepping in, you can't help but feel like a fish our of water when you're sipping beautiful wine in the most glorious and beautiful decor with the Gambia life outside the window. It's a beautiful restaurant, very un-Gambian like but that gives it a wow and provides a real escapism for a few short hours then back to the hustle and bustle of the strip.

Great service & amazing food - well worth a visit for dinner.

Visited due this being no2 on trip adviser. I'm pleased to say it was even better than we thought great food, quirky surroundings, very clean throughout the restaurant, comfy seatings and perfect service throughout the evening. This place is very relaxing, we were made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It's by far the best restaurant in The Gambia.
