Our first night in this hotel was one of our best holiday night ever myself and my wife have even had since we have been traveling.

The decor, location, size of the room and service was just wonderful, the neighborhood was very enjoyable to stroll through, the decor of the rooms and size created a very warm atmosphere in which you could have been happy to just relax there.

The service was exceptionally caring and the waiters and staffs were all good to us....I trully enjoyed everything about the hotel.

We will be coming soon again as we have to see some of the school around for some charities..The management should keep it up... Thanks from Vanba and wife

Room Tip: Excellent staffs and beautiful hotel

A great location, friendly staff, and an incredible view sea side with a lots of restaurant around, where breakfast is served with a smile from the faces of the staffs, Excellent breakfast on the pool side restaurant.

The breakfast staff was especially nice and the gentleman who manned the bar just at the pool side in the afternoons absolutely saved us one day, when we came back a bit hungry but not quite ready for dinner.

He whipped up a cheese plate and some small sandwiches that kept us going until we were ready to head out to Banjul to see the arch there in the small capital city. the room were very clean and nice with the real typical African made bed.. was also nice to sleep on it.

We really liked it here on our stay and Nothing more we just had a wonderful stay and a brilliant holiday at the bamboo garden hotel!

Room Tip: Nice bed rooms

Staffs are friendly and attentive, you will likely have a cup of coffee in your hand before you've been here five minutes and the facilities are hospitable, with such niceties as broadband internet wireless also available.

The guest rooms are spacious and the bed and chairs are made with exotic bamboo, with high ceilings, and smartly decorated in bright, warm colors, with understated modern furnishings and details in blonde wood.

We really love this place and we hope visiting later at the end of this year for another holiday...

Room Tip: beds are made of bamboo room 4 is very cool and nice

I am a returning visitor to the Gambia and wil certainly plan another trip but maybe not to this property ...... It is certainly small and friendly but the dining room is far too small to accommodate even half the amount of people for breakfast so you have to go at 7am to get a table, or do as we did and take a tray back to the bungalow. We were the only English here which we didint mind, it is mainly Dutch and Swedish staying here.

We upgraded to a bungalow for about £12 per night as it included the air con, a fridge and a safe in the price, it also has a little garden to yourself so you can eat your food in peace. The standard rooms have no terraces or balconies .

The bungalows are dark and the fittings and furnishings poorly done, wonky T.V's too high up on the wall and shoddy tiling in bathroom, , but yes it is a 3 star in west africa and you get what you pay for!

The staff are friendly but reception staff are still very much learning the trade and cannot answer many questions.

The breakfastis basic but nice and the food in the restaurant for lunch or dinner is very overpriced.Again the bar is small and we stocked up from the supermarket and put in the fridge, the bar charges £1.50 for a small bottled water, 50p in the supermarket(same as everywhere else in the world)

The pool area is small ,but this diidnt bother us as we are beach people. We walked the 5 minutes to the beach past the taxi drivers and money lenders to Maddies beach club which is attched to Sunswing hotel. We chose to pay for their king size beach cabana which cost £12 per day and included lunch and soft drinks, a good deal.Lunch was nice big plates of ladyfish, or barrucada or butterfish , chips and sald and vegetables, freshly grilled . Yes you can get a free sunbed in front of poco loco beach bar but you will be crammed in.There are varous other beach clubs along this stretch .

I can honestly say that the only annoying persisitant person we encountered was one of the fruit ladies ( number 10...avoid her at all costs) who couldnt understand why we woud not want a plate of fruit for £1.50 straight after eating the same fruit at the hotel for breakfast?!

The juice boys were great...find Bamba Lai, he is next to the fruit ladies in the BAX cabin and he is a genuine person who will do anyhting for you and never hassles you. My husband had a cold and he made fresh ginger and lime juice for him which worked a treat. We also drank lots of "Wonja" ie Hisiscus juice and Baobab juice at breakfast at the hotel, very nice and really good for you.

We went for cocktails at night at Poco Loco beach bar at the end of the road which has live music at the weekend, and walked 10 minutes dwon the main road , to the new Village Complex for dinner...excellent moroccan restaurant and an excelent mexican one here. We also walked to the Senegambia main tourist strip and ate at the Jewel fo india and the havana bar. We tried the Thai restaurant which was not great, more Chiese than Thai.
(There are Visa cash machines on the main road if you need.)

An important note...we were not bitten once! result! It is breezy there presently and mossies dont like it...

Room Tip: Upgrade to a bungalow but beware the noisy fridge.....

Africa.... The more I go, the more I learn about myself. But as Conrad noted, it’s just a peep. Enough to know these people are tougher than me, they endure way more that I could.

I come into their world for a brief couple of days, usually via some Thomas cook flight first class flight, and only glimpse at the reality that is Africa. But it’s enough to know that given enough time…Africa would win most like.

On our arrival at this Bamboo hotel it was really good but a small standard hotel with beauty surrounding it.

we were taking to our room, it was hotel with a different style and design with bamboo wood and a real african style and culture. we enjoyed the hotel and the staff were all nice to us and it was just 5 minutes walk from the beach.

Our first night was so lovely and there were alots of Dutch people in the hotel and that makes us more comfortable.

The sleeping facilities were all clean and now mosquitoes as we have experience in other hotel.. hopeful we planing coming back to this hotel again. Thanks

Room Tip: Africa Style very good

We've travelled to The Gambia for over 20 years fo go fishing. Previously we've stayed in the nearby Paradise Suites but it's become run down and unreliable. We took a gamble on moving to Bamboo and have never looked back. Rooms are very spacious, with huge double beds and all very clean and tidy with reliable aircon, and hot showers. All the staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. The hotel is well patrolled and we had no problems at all leaving items locked in the rooms. Definitely go back.
