Have been to Gambia twice during 2010 and 11 and stayed in Seaview Garden hotel. Nice Rooms and are good value for money.
Just that in some rooms internet is not good, other than that Can't ask for more.
Have restaurants round the corner, safe to walk as i have done a couple of times from hotel to senegambia.

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing rooms

This reveiw is based upon my stay with my wife on 12th november for 1 week. We had room 12 facing the pool it was not busy but the pool had a few people around it, the room was immaculately clean and the room man was exellant could not ask for better but i did give him 50 Dalasai every day about a pound.
The bed was firm and had 2 decent size pillows with a net around the 4 poster, aircon and safe was there for your use if you needed it, the only down side is the lighting it is very dull so take a couple of bulbs or buy 2 while your there and the room will be fit for any lady to do her makeup and they will not look like aunt sally when they go out.
The bathroom and the shower was perfect always had hot water in fact the shower was the best i have seen for a long time and the towels were changed every day,
Breakfast in the morning could be a challenge if it was full with holiday makers, you got cornflakes /rolls/bread/ cheese/spam/fruit/eggs fried, boiled, scrammbled but you had to ask for them. If things ran out you had to wait a bit of a time but we just kept asking, the milk is not to my taste so drank black coffee or tea no milk also there was juice of the day all in all all of it was fresh.
The food was not a problem in the hotel but dearer than outside.
If you want to have a drink in your room go over to the supermarket to get your drinks it is cheaper, a litre bottle of there rum is about 200 dalasai about 4 pounds and if you put coke with it it's alright.
We did not have a balcony out the back but 2 chairs out the front where you could sit and have a read if you wanted. Dont open the front window unless you want to spend at least 15 min trying to lock it when you needed to go out.
There is nowhere for the ladies to wash anything if they wanted because there is nowhere for them to dry unless you hung it over the shower rail.
Dont buy any of there food deals they are not worth it, go outside by the Senegambia hotel there are a couple of restarants which are good, also Yasmina's for a good steak or chicken Yasa in fact there Domada is great to.
The people are very freindly and will help you where or whenever they can but be prepared to part with some money, if you dont like this sort of thing just say no thank you in a stern way and if some one seems rude this is not the norm just ignore them as they are the bumsters. the odd 25 dalasai tip which is about 50p given here or there can give you some suprises as you will be looked after. If you prefer you could find yourself someone for the day to take you places but dont be frightened to haggle for the daily fee.
Dont be drawn into the i've just got married bit or the naming day saga as this could cost you money when you dont know it, no i have not been caught but friends of mine have and it could cost you up to 50 pounds.

Room Tip: get sea veiw room with balcony

good points 1st - decent sized room and clean and nice bath (though a bit dark), breakfast adequate and chef man very nice.

Bad points - booked Holidaybeach club but thomas cook double booked so had to pay £300 more to stay here - wish we hadnt!
no atmostphere but dont know why?, bit of a trek (or taxi) to senegambia strip, receptionist had no knowledge of our booking (apparently) so waited about for ages, when we told our rep she said she was lying cos had told her in the morning we were arriving so she gave her a telling off,!

very bad point - gardener man went to our daughters room (shes 28) on pretence to mend something then shut the door and blocked it so she couldnt get out and told her how much he loved her and want for a better word tried it on, my daughter was hysterical and shouted at him, and he ran off, we reported this staright away and asked for a working phone for room (which never arrived), we were told the gardener had been dealt with and we never saw him again, but his friend kept apologising for him and saying he was a good man and now his family have no money, needless to say this spoilt our holiday somewhat, and my daughter was very wary for the rest of the holiday.
It hasnt stopped us going to Gambia, we are going at xmas, but never at this hotel again. Sorry to everyone who has had a brill time here.

Room Tip: higher rooms have seaview.

Stayed at this hotel for 18 nights from March the 15th

Rooms- The rooms are spotless and nice seperate area but no fridge was a negative

Food-- Good evening meal but breakfast a bit poor

Bar-- Nice bar and good fun at happy hour which runs from 6pm, 5pm would be better

Friendly-- Most staff were friendly and helpful, although the female staff at reception could do a course on how to smile
Return-- Yes I would return because of the cleanliness

We stayed at Seaview Gardens in November; and found it a lovely hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful; we were shown around the gardens by Joseph, and had omlettes cooked at fresh at breakfast by the chef. The rooms were kept clean and the pool area well kept.
After the recommendation of a massage from Rose, I also booked in for one at the hotel; and it was great; very professional and relaxing! Will definately return!

Room Tip: You pay a bit more for the villas; but they are lovely!

Seaview gardens first of all does not have a seaview from its gardens, but it is a quite nice place to stay for a few days. Rooms are ok clean and quite nice with a little separate sitting area but they are also quite dark and you can see that it is not really new hotel. Nice pool and bar area.

Very friendly staff. Good location with a short walk to beach and bar strip and shopping mall. Tours available and a beauty space and a massage place are also located next to the reception.

The beds were comfortable (not very hard not very soft) but there was a lot of noise from surrounding areas both at night and in the morning (didn't bother me much, but can be good to know).

Apart from the fact that you can get eggs cooked in your preferred way and apart from a nice fruit selection, breakfast really not very good with only white sloppy breads and a juice that tastes like it never had anything to do with fruits. No coffee (unless you consider Nescafé to be coffee).

Overall, it was an ok hotel, not bad at all, just not a 4-star as they pronounce themselves to be, and in my opinion a bit overpriced (but I think this is common in the peak season in this area).

Just returned a couple of days ago. I initially wanted to stay at Senegambia Hotel, however, I couldn't justify the extra cost. So decided to book Seaview Hotel, via Thomas Cook agent, so glad that I booked Seaview! (It was a blessing in disguse that Senegambia was more expensive).

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel & it wasn't too "touristy". Rooms were spotless, although a little dark, bathroom clean with a decent shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent Wi-Fi facility throughout the whole of the hotel, including your hotel room. Breakfast was buffett style, sliced bread, rolls, toast, butter, jam, cheese, meat, cereals, fruit - other options available at a small cost. Pool was very clean. TV showing all the sports by the pool bar. Have also learnt alot of reggae artists stay at this hotel too, members of neigbouring countries stay at the hotel for conferences etc. This hotel is in an excellent location, just a few minutes away from the beach. I would definetly recommend this hotel to everyone. It has a great personal touch. Gambia itself is lovely.

PS: - Please do not fall for any "stories" from people outside, claiming that they work at the hotel & have recently got married etc and would like to introduce you to wife etc - this is a SCAM! It is all made up & they are after money! They are not even "bumsters", at least "bumsters" try to sell you something and are simply making a living!

Also when eating, shopping etc, please make a concious effort to support Gambian/African owned businesses.

I look forward to returning to Gambia - excellent sunshine, great people, good nightlife and great things to do!
