Went there with friends... Beach, pool, staff and food was all great. Comfortable & clean room. Not a lot of people at the resort we were treated like royalty. What to say about the food that was quality and exceptional and every thing was quality and hot. Dessert were superb. Just nearby of Tela you can walk around in day time it's safe. If you want to experience something different just go for it.

We travelled to La Ensenada resort Jan 2. 2017. The bus ride was about 1.5 hrs from the airport to the resort, check in to our room was fast and easy as we were the only ppl coming in that day!
The resort is smaller with 2 large pools - one quieter pool and one near the restaurant that has a swim up bar. Both pools well maintained. Mainly Hondurans staying on the resort which was nice, they are excellent at karaoke.
Bars - 2 one swim up bar/walk up side at the pool, one beach bar which is like a sports bar with pooltable, air hockey, tv screens they play YouTube videos or karaoke on and a dance floor! Lots of fun in the evenings.
Beach - dark sand so the ocean view is not the typical bright blue water and white sand. It looked more like a great lake. We walked the beach many times to the town or other resorts. Felt very safe - we took minimal items with us. Away fr the resort there is garbage lining the beach.
Staff - amazing even if most didn't speak fluent English. Quick, polite, always smiling!
Excursions - although expensive they are fun! We went to Copan overnight to see ruins. $300USD per person - worth every cent. Our guide was excellent, the hotel in Copan stunning, town beautiful and safe. We also did snorkeling- $99USD per person.
Food was excellent. Quality over quantity. We didn't get sick once and loved all meals. Salad and soup available at every dinner.
Town - we walked through Tela a lot. Went into some stores. Nobody seemed to mind and we were bothered by anyone.

Comparison to other resorts - we walked to Telamar resort and swam their pool. Seemed quiet. Lots of waterslides for kids. Beach front. Not as fancy looking as la ensenada prob bc its an older resort.
La palma real resort in La Ceiba is where you go for snorkeling and canopy tour meeting place. Nice lobby, large pool. Told it has one bar that closes at 10pm. Beach front with white sand and bright blue water. Snack bar available with juices, french fries, burgers etc. Excursions run much more frequently from here and are less expensive so if you are planning to do a lot of them this would be your best hotel.

Great rooms and better meals! The strip steak was so wonderful! I've have not had such a tender and flavorful steak in this country in six years living here! Good value for their all inclusive price! Excellent!

Compared to all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic, this was by far the most beautiful. 2 pools, a large and beautifully decorated room. The staff was very lovely and accomodating as well. Meals were simple but fresh, which for me, was more important than quantity. Suprisingly there were not many people at this resort but it was also not the high season but felt safe regardless. Compared to other resorts in the area it was also more reasonably priced. The resort embraced the natural beauty of the country and I lucked out with warm weather and no rain. (booked as a gift for parent-review is from their feedback and my experience dealing with the establishment))

We had a good experience except for the rainy weather. The rooms were nice and the food was great. Ana in the restaurant was SUPER nice. Stephanie was also very nice and we had fun with her at karaoke and bingo.
The staff was really great. I only wish the weather was nicer and the beach was cleaner.
Overall though a good experience.
