We stayed at the Tak Falaknuma in November for our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. Beautiful grounds, lovely carriage ride, a special refreshing drink and sweeping views of the city greet you once you get there. Rooms are luxurious but it was the evening Qawwali at the Gol Bungalow that blew us away. It has got to be one of the most spectacular views of the city and a great way to spend the evening. Dinner was delicious, in particular the haleem. The staff was gracious and always helpful but at times felt a little green, especially at the restaurant which seemed a bit hurried. The hotel still being relatively new this was understandable. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a wonderful stay. We'd definitely go back!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are well appointed. You couldn't go wrong.

This hotel/palace experience is just amazing. From the time one steps on to property at the entrance of the Castle, one is treated like royalty. We stayed in the palace for 4 nights in early December 2012 and totally enjoyed every minute. The staff were discreet but always available to every whim of ours and as one would expect for this class of hotel, they went the extra steps to find out about our tastes and demands.
Lots of honeymoon couples come to spend just a night in the hotel and hardly get the full joy of staying in this place. Hence, the jazz bar with it's live singer is hardly appreciated.

Room Tip: Spa needs to be updated with extra modern requirements of guests.

We stayed at the Falakmuma Palace in early January, 2013 and had a spectactular two night-three day visit. As a historian by profession, I was enchanted with the palace's history (there were daily tours), and as we left, the staff regaled us with stories of the Nizams' family history and showed us the coronation room, now under restoration. The grounds, the rooms the facilities were excellent. One has a 360 view of Hyderabad from the palace's mountainous perch and lights sparkle at night. The food was fabulous--the bakery deserves special mention.. The service could not be better. All in all (and we have stayed at most Taj heritage hotels over the years), we had a wonderul, memorable time and would, despite its steep tab, highly recommend it. Plus, there is much to see and experience in Hyderabad, which does not receive the number of tourists (especially from abroad) that more popular venues, such as Rajastan or Kerala do.

Room Tip: All the rooms (60 in all) are fine.

The Palace is very grand and has been maintained impeccably. That a lot of the original construction has been preserved as-is, was quite a revelation. The place shows the rich taste of the Nizam for whom the Palace was built.

One gets a taste of royalty right from the start. Outside vehicles are not allowed inside the walls of the Palace and one needs to board a horse-chariot to get to the main Palace. The Palace tour gives you a good perspective of the history.

The guest rooms are just beyond the main palace building. The rooms are very spacious and have been refitted with all modern amenities, very luxurious. There is ample open space in the courtyard and other areas. We had 5 kids in our group and they had a whale of a time running from one end to the other, playing in the garden, ling down on the hammock, etc.

The first evening, we ate at the Mediterranean restaurant and got some awful food and worse service. We gave some pretty strong feedback and the next 5 meals were excellent with impeccable service (Indian and Mediterranean restaurants). The chef even prepared a full oriental menu one of the evenings as we didn't want to have Italian or Chinese.

If you are a large group, it might be better to fix up your menu for lunch / dinner upfront as it is easier for the kitchen to manage. And, if you book it in advance, you can have dinner in the open area between the two restaurants with romantic lighting and a view of the city (MUST DO).

In the evenings there is a lovely sufi music performance for 30-45 mins, which gives you a sense of the lives of the royalty. Eat, roam the grounds, enjoy the good tastes in life and retire in your palace.

The swimming pool is pretty decent for a luxury property, though in January the water was a bit too cold for us to really enjoy.

Jithin, the Assistant Manager for the restaurants, was extremely helpful and made our stay even more memorable.

There are some excellent photo-ops in the evening with the city lights or the palace lights in the background, so dont forget your camera and

The Taj experience started when we were met at the airport by the Taj representative and from the minute of pickup they couldn't do enough. It is an advantage that the hotel is only about 30 mins from the airport. On arrival at the hotel the arrival by horse and carriage is very special, and the manager was there to greet us and explain some of the history of the hotel. The rooms are lovely - the cheapest garden category are wonderful and certainly one does not need to upgrade. The upper floor must be seen and take advantage of the hotel tour around 5.30 every evening. I stayed for 4 nights, and wish I had stayed and extra night or two. Whenever I needed anything, or if there was a problem, the management were extremely helpful, especially Vishal whose attentiveness and care was quite extraordinary. The food in the Indian restaurant was some of the best I have ever tasted. The only thing I found very distasteful was the huge picture which dominated the dining room portraying the Nazir smugly standing over the bodies of 4 dead tigers. This portrait should be put elsewhere and another put in its place. The Italian restaurant is also excellent. The spa was pleasant and the gym adequate, although it needs some extra equipment eg pull-down, rowing machine and some core kinesis stations which most gyms have nowadays. The pool was lovely, and the staff around the pool very attentive. This is without question one of the best hotels I have stayed in and worth a detour.

We stayed at the Falaknuma Palace for two night in December. A beautifully restored palace with nice rooms and beautiful grounds. The greeting at at the hotel is copied from the Taj Lake Palace complete with rose petals but with a carriage substituting for the boat. The service in the restaurant, although attentive was quite slow (the morning we left we had to leave before we got our main dish and there were only 4 people in the restaurant). The dining room is beautiful but the food was unmemorable. We were given a private "heritage" tour through a part of the unrestored portion of the palace but left on our own to view the restored rooms....beautiful but without an explanation of what you are seeing there is no meaning. The hotel has all of the classical Taj Palace Hotel part....wonderful location, beautiful property, attentive staff but it misses heart. As if it has no reason to be. We will return to many of the Taj Palace hotels we have been to. But not to Falaknuma Palace.
