Tastefully done up decor with whites and the subdued warm lighting makes its for a serene romantic seating. The view of the Hussain Sagar adds to the charm.
Service was bad- had to keep repeating orders and requesting them to get the food. Waiting time for the order to be served was long .
Food was a mix, starters were delicious.The main course of vegetarian stroganoff, and the chicken version of the same were highly disappointing .
Hope the management spruces up its act.

Good Food.. lovely ambiance.. we chose a seat from where we could look at the hussain sagar.. and there was a little rain.. so overall a lovely evening.. food decent too.. loved a drink called " creamy queen"

1857...is not very much as the name suggests... i was expecting it to be an old English pub types but to my surprise came out to be something else !! The decor.. the ambiance was just lovely... with the cabanas draped in white flowy cloths.. it took my breath away.. we went in an evening and had a few snacks and ordered alcohol as we had plans to visit Tansen after that.. ordered for a Singaporean prawn.. sizes were quite big .. want expecting that big prawns to come.. which was off course a good thing! :) Only one point.. which is not in the hands of anyone.. is the mosquitoes !! which irritated me to the core.. u cannot do anything also... how so many coils and repellents u put.. mosquitoes will be there owing to the fact its location near a lake.. apart from that the entire experience was very nice.. :) Priced nominally, i liked the concept of the menus being printed as newspapers !! This is a decent hotel with very normal food. Good to be visiting as a couple to enjoy the ambiance as it is a little romantic. I would prefer the Ohri's 5th floot at Banjara Hills. 1857 tries to give you a different experience but that does not come out very well! Their kebab's are good, drinks are a little expensive, deserts just cant be tasted! Over-all, try it once for the experience and not for food!

ReAlly good ambiance but average food and service.. It has 2 other restaurants which are also decent!
