Stayed here in business at the insistence if a colleague, not my choice but very pleasantly surprised.
Staff were very friendly and efficient, the room was clean (and not at all smelly as another reviewer remarked), the bathroom functioned perfectly and the food in the Waterside Cafe - all Goan themed during my stay - was excellent.
And to top it off, good evening entertainment in the lounge / bar area from a duo playing Western hits, the singer having a beautiful voice.
I'd come back here

Taj's most badly kept property in India I guess. ..
Its upkeep is not great atall as of other Taj properties.
They are holding on to old style but the look is delapetated.
The bathroom was bad.my friend had a room on smoking floor whereas my room was on non smoking floor as per our needs.Her rooms air conditioning was a perpetual problem so she got a fan put finally. Her fridge was not working. Her bathtub was flithy wirh mud color settled in.
Thankfully my room had no such issues.
Then the towels of the room had lints all over and hanging threads and torn from sides.
We told them to change. Even the bed sheet was full of lints.
They didn't change that. ..
The lift was another problem. Always gave us trouble. I had to call a staff to go or come up.
The lobby toilet was stinking and dirty. ...
But one thing which was good was the staff. Very warm affectionate courtious helpful ever smiling and ready to help.
That was the only thing making our stay pleasant.
The view was ok as the lake is flithy.
Taj shd takeover the upkeep of that lake.

An extremely old property. The location was fantastic with restaurants and malls nearby, however the restrooms were in a shabby state. Personally, I wouldn't come back to this hotel due to the shabby state of rooms and in particular toilets.

Though at a very good location the upkeep of the hotel is not upto the mark. lobby and the halls are presentable but rooms are misty and stinky. first thing u want when you enter the room is AIR / ROOM FRESHNER. Bathrooms are also not well drained and water fills in making the entire room dirty. during the stay there was a AC water leakage in room. staff though is very friendly . overall a good hotel for hosting corporate meetings and family functions etc. but average for stay

Taj Banjara is located at the prime locality of Banjara Hills. The hotel is very clean, staff are very friendly and helpful. One has to make own arrangements for the local travel as taxis and auto-rikshaws are very expensive and would not be available for short distance. During my stay at Taj Banjara, renovation work was going on which has resulted in hi-decibel noise level at the Hotel, not a very comfortable feeling. Water body, call it as lake or a pond, infront of the hotel gives a very good view, but due to poor maintenance and stagnation foul smell from the water body spreads across the surrounding areas. Overall hygiene level was very good, food quality at the restaurant is very nice. The service of staff in the restaurant is very good.

Room Tip: Pond facing room is very good.

This hotel is long past it's use by date. Shabby rooms, old fashioned furniture and musty smelling corridors. The bathroom was ancient, and the bath had even lost the enamel shine. The bed had seen better days, soggy. Worse was to come.
The pond or lake you see in pictures is an effluent reservoir that stinks of excrement. If the wind blows towards the hotel it's nauseous. Swimming pool is 10 metres from this stench lagoon. A mosquito play park.
The Taj name pulls punters in, as I was like a fool. Front desk staff will give you one of the tatty rooms till you complain, despite being half empty. Why?
Expensive slow internet. Why in 2014 don't hotels realise WiFi is no longer a luxury, like a mini bar. Takes me back 15 years ago in Moscow where soap and towels were charged for as was AC.
The Restaurant staff are really nice and try their hardest. The breakfast is good and can't be faulted . Very good banana and papaya smoothies. Genuine warmth when you make a request. They deserve better I think.
This hotel needs a serious amount of modernisation. Very damp musty room, after 2 days my clothes were feeling damp too. Time to leave and change hotels. As a goodbye gift a 1 minute 40 second call to a local land line cost Rupees 100 (£1) which does not seem much, but imagine a 10 min call for £5. Complete ripp off.
I just wonder if the Taj management have ever gone outside for "fresh air" that reminds you of raw sewage.

Room Tip: Avoid the 2nd floor. 8th floor is better but very musty.

Taj Banjara certainly sucks to the core. I have stayed there a couple of times and seen the place go from bad to worse!
1) cockroaches in rooms
2) no properly working lifts. You will find yourself struggling with lifts everytime you have to take one
3) slowest services on in room dining
4) general staff is equally slow and completely insensitive
5) 24X7 services take calls and do nothing about service requests!
6) located next to a sewage pond that stinks to no end

If you are paying that kind of money, pls find another property. Won't recommend this at all.
