“the best option at vizag”
Reviewed 18 October 2011

So far the best sea facing hotel at vizag. surprisingly neat and spotlessly clean. i stayed at a new block ac luxury room. the room is fantastic with superb view of the sea from the bed. sunrise is visible from your pillow. lcd tv, geaser, intercom, split ac, refrigerator every thing is there. but the restaurant is far away from the rooms. not all the waiters are efficient. food is moderate and bit costly. though the beach is very close to the property it takes much energy to get down at the sand from the hotel. sunrise is awesome from this resort.one children park was found carelessly lying, needs attention. but vizag city is far away from the resort. it is advised to tour thotlakonda and bhimlipatnam beach from here. the staff is less friendly. try to make hard bargain over auto and car fare. it is easy to ply to the city through the beach road with a cab or auto. the beach road upto rk beach is really beautiful. the beach road from bhimli in the north to fishing harbour in the south runs with the great beaches and blue water. but be cautious at time of booking the rushikonda beach resort. the aptdc people are not always properly informed and even can mislead you. after making my booking from kolkata office, they repeatedly urged me to take the refund on the ground that the resort has been locked out. but i did not take the refund and proceeded on my own. reaching there i found nothing like that. this type of mis information is not expected from a reputed house like aptdc.

Room Tip: try to book ac luxury rooms or ac suits, though all the rooms are sea facing.

This property surprised us pleasantly. Honestly, we did not expect so much out a government run property. Must say, it is a great value proposition.

We were there for six nights, had taken deluxe double rooms and were in the old block. Had a great ocean-beach view. Had nice, clean and spacious rooms, having huge balconies with a breath-taking ocean view. Bathrooms were nice and clean though did not have bathtubs.

It’s a no frills hotel which provides you with all the comfort to have a great family holiday - does not have gym or swimming pool though. We liked the food and the service was decent.
A useful tip - Local cabs can be expensive but not many people know that APTDC has a full-day cab hire option which comes at almost half the rate that the local cabbies charge. Contact details can be found on the flyer available at the front desk.

Also, for anybody travelling to Araku by train, we did not find the train journey as great as some reviewers had projected it to on this site. The journey was a bit tedious and the reviews were overrated. We had the first class tickets and the view was not very good from the compartment so one had to stand in the gallery to get some view which lasted for about 30-40 minutes…

Room Tip: We liked the rooms in the old wing. Had a better view from there with spacious balconies and bigger...

The resort is nicely located outside the city (15 km from Railway Station). The view from the room is too good. You get a nice beach view. The resort is well maintained, and the service is also good. There was a small problem in the bathroom, which was resolved within 30 mins. Room service is a bit slow - they took 25 mins to deliver tea.
There are 2 restaurants in the resort. The one near the reception serves decent food at lesser price. The other one on the way down to the beach, is good with slightly higher prices.
Reaching the beach from the room is easy - just have to climb down some stairs, but might be difficult for kids and elderly. There are a few shops on the beach selling nice small sea shells articles. There is a motor boat ride as well.
One can easily get autos from the main road. There is an auto stand very near by. Even the hotel staff can help you out to call an auto at the reception.

Room Tip: View from all the rooms is equally good.

we got a room towards the end of the property(which offered better view of the sea) but we had to walk a long way for the restaurant or the front office.we had kids and going to the beach downstairs was very difficult.during returning from the beach the steep climb is very tiring.i hope the tourism people do something to solve this.the view is spectacular, sea from bed through the large glass windows is exceptional.the view from our room and probably most of the rooms showed large expanses of the sea.housekeeping was on time.however the restaurant phone didnt work occassionaly. We liked the food and location of the restaurant and bar(which is privately owned ,it seemed and toward the end of the property),however the staff there surprisingly was very casual.on our second day they took a long time just to take the order. The APTDC restaurant also served good food.We liked APTDC restaurants veg meals. The restaurant staff were eager to help.overall a memorable stay but tiring approach to sea beach.

Room Tip: rooms near the reception area will be good for people who dont want to walk to much.

This place is good if you are looking for a clean, no-frills kind of place. Prices are very reasonable as it is run by the state tourism development corporation. Staff is ok,not exceptional. Food is good and the service is reasonably prompt for a place run by a government corporation. If you do not expect facilities like gym/jacuzzi etc which you find in high-end places, you will be quite happy with this place
