This is a drive in zoo where you can enter the zoo with a four wheeler. There are a varied exhibits but it is a bit unorganised. The locals pelted stones at the animals for their attention some honked their vehicle horns for their attention sadly there was not enough gaurds to spot such rogue guests. The butterfly park is amazing.

“In one word - lovely”
Reviewed 19 August 2013

The trip to the zoo was a sudden decision as we passed the same up and down a few times on way to other places. It was a wonderful decision. The zoo allowed for a battery run vehicle to be booked on per hour basis for a charge of Rs. 200 along with a guide cum driver who would take us round. It had a large space. Since we travelled in monsoon the zoo was completely green and full of trees. It seemed to be a part of a larger forested area. The birds were in cages but many other animals were in large enclosures. Some animals were kept in seclusion like the rhino and the elephant..

There werent many exotic animals but those that were there were in large enclosures. A few animals were single and looked like a lonely existance. But other like deers , tigers, swans were in group and seemed normal.

“not up to the mark”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

I had visited once which is not really an interesting place due to lack of water for animals, cleanliness, and even most of the trees are not green because all the water reservoirs dried which is not very keen place to see

“Poverty of variety”
Reviewed 14 June 2013

The zoo is very ordinary and the animals are not so lifeful or healthy. I felt the zoo needs more attention to be free from all proverties.

“One of the better zoos in the country”
Reviewed 16 May 2013

We went in expecting a normal zoo with animals in cages....but to our surprise the Zoo was actually a safari and the animals - even the wild ones are not kept in cages at all - they are housed in large enclosures separated from the public through deep moats.
And the Zoo is very very green and pleasant with the sea on one side and the hills on the other side - even though Vizag being a coastal city is very humid.
The staff also are very friendly - which anyway is a characteristic of the people of North Coastal and Godavari districts of AP
The Zoo authorities should stop people from driving their cars through the zoo - even though it is very spacious - as diesel cars tend to pollute the air which is not good for the animals.
At the end one gets a feeling of having taken a ride in a forest rather than in the zoo - except that the forest tends to get crowded a bit on the weekends.
