Stayed at Budhil park in the last week of August 2012. We checked into a royal category double occupancy room. The staff at the reception were friendly and helpful. Ditto for the room service folks. I had an impression that the wifi network maybe slow and may open up only a few select websites. But , i was pleasantly surprised. Not only was it fast, almost all websites/pages necessary for my work opened up. I initially had a problem with the connection cord but the room service folks quickly replaced it. Nice, friendly atmosphere at the hotel. The room was very good, all amenities from an inhouse-bar/fridge to a coffee maker etc were available. They have a complimentary breakfast for guests and a buffet lunch priced at Rs 180.
Coming to the room design, I found the bathroom a bit too cramped for space. Theres a glass panel which separates the rest room/toilet area from the bath area. They could have made it better considering the quality and grandeur of the room but I guess they can do nothing about the designing aspect now.
Coming to the food aspect, the food was not that spicy as is typical of andhra cuisine and is good. The food items are priced high, but this is a star accommodation and that can only be expected. However, I being a vegetarian found the vegetarian options a bit too dull and missing on popular varieties. I also missed a thali/platter which is generally available in most hotels/restaurants.
Coming to the location, its located near the flyover at Siripuram. Autowallahs will charge about Rs 60 to get to this hotel. There are no metered autos in Vizag. They fix a price and you pay it. They charged 40 Rs for a location which was about a km from the railway station. Theres an ATM - Canara Bank bang opposite the hotel but that didn't accept SBI debit card from Bangalore. Most ATMs generally do. Had to walk to the main road and turn right to access ATMs of HDFC, ICICI, SBI etc. Found missing panels on the pavement which exposed the drain. An unsuspecting fellow might easily go in. This is something which the civic authorities have to take care of ..nothing concerned with Budhil park but thought of mentioning it while describing the overall locality the hotel is in. Theres also a small Shirdi sainath shrine right in front of the hotel. Me being a devotee, found this extremely surprising and comforting. All in all, a good experience worth every penny that I paid. Recommend this hotel for future visits. One of the best star facilities at Vizag.
