“What a shock”
Reviewed 24 February 2009

We have visited Goa 7 times previously, but had never stayed in Basic accommodation.
And, basic it certainly was. We were shown to our rooms on arrival and wondered what we'd booked. The bathroom was overlooked by the room next door, so we had to improvise and make a make shift curtain to cover the grill in the bathroom window. The hot & cold water worked most of the time. We asked for a fridge in the room, and were charged the equivalent of £2 per night for this. The fridge was a right rusty monster of a thing. The room was kept clean by the room boy and towels and bedding changed frequently. The window had gaps round it which let the mosquitos in.
We only ate breakfast at the guesthouse twice, as the service was very slow, even for just toast and coffee.
Our first night there - we decided on an early night as we were absolutly shattered from the travelling. There to greet us on our return was Maria, in a see through pink nightie and what looked like a cow pat on her head. At various times during our stay we went into the safety deposit room, only to find Maria there having a siesta or chanting. The view from our balcony was nice though and quiet. The swimming pool we used belonged to the hotel and was just up the lane. At the time we used it, it was clean and very refreshing after we'd had a day on the beach. I didn't see any frogs in the pool or any rats in the grounds. On the whole we had a good holiday and certainly got what we paid for. I would recommend the guesthouse to people, but only on the understanding that it is very, very basic accommodation.

where do I start
on arrival it did not look too bad .,greeted by the woman in black who turned out to be the owner Maria.our room was definitely the best there it was overlooking the pool, nice sized room with a good bathroom .first the ceiling fan did not work but fixed the next day then the cold tap in the shower did not work fixed the day after.{six couples checked out while we were there} the pool had frogs living in it and was peagreen you could not see the bottom ,the kitchen was closed down for health reasons, but they still tried to sell you a cooked breakfast every day,Maria blesses they hotel every day with holy water to me an over the top christian .the outside bar did not open at night and the outside lights are turned off at 10 pm .the best thing about the place was the room boys they cleaned the rooms every day and we got a different arrangement of fish and animals made of towels and sheets every day ,Maria only spoke to us if we owed her money for drinks or something she hounded us for the money for the safe and the fridge from day 1 . the grounds were full of rats at night and in India they are the size of cats, my wife was ill with acute gastroenteritis we tried to get a doctor with the emergency numbers in the reception all were not working so we had to get a taxi to hospital but that's another story Goa has changed for the worse over the years and now we will never go back . only go if you like the stench the dust the filth ,bad and unsafe drivers bad food and people who try to fleece you at every turn even the chemist are at it
