“Value for Money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 January 2013

This is our 2nd time @ the hotel & rooms have been updated to a good standard. Probably not the best hotel in Goa but you pay for what you get and it is very good value. We priced other venues such as the Taj which is definately a higher standard but is 3 times more expensive and is not all inclusive, we visited cheaper accomodation but found the standard of rooms were not as good as the Whispering Palms.
The staff in the Whispering Palms were very friendly and our room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The al-a-carte was complimentary for Thomas Cook customers but was embarassing to say the least this need to be looked into. The food at the hotel was repetative and we probably did not use the all inclusive facilities, this was our choice as it was so cheap to eat & drink out and we liked the variety.
The hotel is in a good location and by weighing up the pros and cons we feel this is good value for money within the area / location - you pay for what you get !

Dear Guest ,

Warm greetings from Goa.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at The Whispering Palms Beach Resort Goa and also for taking the time out to review the hotel on TripAdvisor.

Thank you for the positive comments on our staff and on the cleanliness of the hotel. We have also taken note of your comments on the a la carte restaurant and we would surely introspect in these areas and make the necessary changes for improvement.

It is also truly regrettable that you did not find the resort appropriate to your expectations . I am sure that you will appreciate that we just renovated and upgraded the resort a few months back,

Once again, Thank you for your feedback and my team and I do hope to have another opportunity to serve you and be able to meet your expectations and also to show you the difference your feedback has made.

Warm Regards

Jacob John

We have been returning to this wonderful hotel for the past 5 years, sometimes twice a year. We have been to other hotels but find that this is simply the best. The standard has not only been maintained, but has improved every year.
The ambiance is very peaceful and relaxing, with well maintained gardens and its many coconut trees.
The swimming pool is very clean. The bedrooms are cleaned everyday and bedding is changed everyday. Towels are replaced everyday.
The staff are approachable, professional, courteous and very helpful.
The choice of food is excellent and the chef is always available for recommendation.
We shall be coming back in Dec. 2013.
Professionals from South Yorkshire in UK .

Room Tip: Try this hotel and you will want to return.

I have been to goa 7 times and stayed in differrent hotels and resort..... But whispering palms was the worst hotel i have stayed in... We took the studio elite rooms which were supposed to be the best rooms in the hotel but the rooms were just like the standard room u get in a cheap hotel.... The food was ok..... The service was disgusting..... No care taken towards the guest... No respone from the staff for any damn thing u req for.... Overall the hotel is just not worth going to...... Also suggest others try for different hotel in this area.... U have better options around... Wld never return and also wld never suggest neone to go to the hotel

The 'professional' photos of this hotel are NOT photos of the actual hotel, even the photo on this website appear to be the front of a different hotel. The facilities currenly listed on the Thomas Cook webite include jacuzzi and yoga/meditation room which DO NOT EXIST! The spa is just a woman offering massages in a room under the bar! This is a great place if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful costa del sol beer/beach holiday...but it's nothing special and the staff are only really helpful if you tip them...Food is so-so...it's full of Brits and Russians who are looking for a (loud and drunken!) good time. We were sold a kipper with this hotel - it is only quiet in comparison to neighbouring Calangute and is not worth the money we paid to stay there. Almost everyone we spoke to had a problem with or reqested to change the room they were initially given...includng us. Oh...and where the 'partial sea view' is, without standing on the roof, remains a mystery...Terribly disappointing...hope never to return...or book with First Choice/Hayes and Jarvis again...

Room Tip: Beware - you will be put into any old room that is ready whn you arrive...ask to SEE THE ROOM FIRST!

We were at whispering palms in November 2012 for 2 weeks. Our flight was arround 8-9 hours from gatwick. When we arrived in india I instantly knew that I was going to love it. The airport tranfer to whispering palms is about an hour depending on traffic.
When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in quickly and also offered a cool cloth and refreshments although this was only a small glass of lemonade. The check in was a nice experience as there were places to sit down and you could almost immediately get a nice view of the hotel I.e the restaurant and the pool. Were were shown to our room which was through little pathways with lovley plants. We arrived in the early hours of the morning but even in the dark the hotel grounds were beautiful. We were shown to room 362 which was a gorgeous room with everything you could possibly need. Fully furnished with flat screen tv seating area tea/coffee making facilitys fridge with cold drinks (be aware you have to pay extra and all charged will be on a tab to collect at the end of the holiday) this room did not have a balcony or terrace although the windows open wide. The bathroom was lovley with a lovley large walk in shower. Although this room was beautiful, it had one double bed..... there were 3 of us. We checked our booking form which stated that we had booked a room for 3 adults. We went to reception who told us to go back to the room and that somone would ring in the next 10 minutes, 20 minutes later no call so we rund them and again they asked us to wait for 10 minutes longer. By this time if was arround 3 am. Eventually some one come and collected us to show us a different room with three beds. But this was not a room with 3 beds. It had 2 singles and a camp bed. The camp bed was for myself and looked ok but looking closer it was rusty and the sheets were a little dirty. The view from this room was horrible. There was pots of paints and tools right beside the terrace and a metal fence about 1 metre away. We went back to reception and said that we were not impressesed as we were paying £500 a week for me to sleep on a put up bed. They gave me the other room for the night. The next day we were told to go to reception at 10am and everything would be sorted. We were actually waiting till arrounf 2 pm untill anyone came to see us. We were told that if we wanted to keep the room that I was in we would have to pay £300 extra. Then my parents were moved out of the room they were in and haf no room what so ever. There bags were outside on a walk way bejng gaurded by security as they had no room. We were nearly into the seccond day of our holiday and haddnt even got a room. By this time we were getting upset especially my mum. We were then asked to go to a meeting with the manager, assistant manager, and the rep. My mum and dad were shown another room which again only had 1 bed in. In the end we aggreed to pay the £300 for my extra room. Final 3 days after afriving we unpacked. My top tip would be if there are 3 of you book 2 rooms. The rooms are trick photographed.

The rest of the holiday was amazing the pool was lovley not too big but not to small. The waiters were abit slow at coming arround serving but they were polite and friendly. One disadvantage to the pool area is that there is no out dorr toilets or an outdoor bar but this diddnt cause too much of a problem.
The hotel is in an excelent location right in the centre of the main street of candolim but quiet in the evenings ( no car horns ) there are some lovley plces near by to eat and it is sooo cheap. Ruffles bar and restaurant was amazing, we had a roast dinner twich whilst we were in goa. Just outside the hogel there is a little shop which sells cigarettes alcohol crisps and chocolate and xoft drinks. This is a lot cheaper than using the cans in the mini bar so I would suggest getting them from there.
The elephant shop is also an amazing little shop it is on the right hand sice of the main streen.come out of the hotel on the the main road looking left. It sells everything you could need. Shampoo shower gel milk washing power makeup....... also it sells great little gifts which are cheaped than bartering on the streets. I got a beautiful bracelet from a man on the main road and paied 1000 rupees and in the elephant shop theh were selling them for 400 so its definatly worth looking.
We went on some brilliant trips the tropical spice plantation was amazing. Was about 45 mins in a taxi. We saw elephants monkeys and spideres the size of your hand. It was about 400 rupees for the tour arrounf the plantation learning about all of the spices that grow naturally there followed bya lovley lunch. Wenpaied £10 (1000 rupees ) for the taxi who took us there waited for 2 hours and then took to old goa to see the churches and then drove us back. Top tip, take lots of water as the taxi can get hot.
We went on the free tring to mapsua and the local market. It was an experience. It is somtjing youbwill never see again. It is next to the main bus station and the market is full of local goans. There were spices and fruit. There were also a coupple of little cafes where you could get a freshly squeezed juice. It was about 20 minutes on a coach. My top tip is to take a camera but not much else. Other than money to buy some water. A bag is not a good idea as you are worried it will get lost but a camera is a must!
Thd rest of our holiday was amazing apart from the flight home which clearly was not thehotels fault. Apart from the trouble at the beginig of our holidays I couldent praise the hotel enough it was lovley and I would deffinatly stay again.

This is our 4th time to this hotel, and just spent our 1st week of our annual 3 week stay. We love it! The staff greet you with such a warm welcome! Thy could not be more helpful. The food menu has lightly changed from previous years, and has improved the choice. I do not eat spicy food but always find something to eat if I don't the chef is more than willing to cook me something . We do eat out , only for a change of scenery and because everything is so handy at this hotel. On the doorstep.
My husband always has a couple of days ill no matter where in the world we go. He is just a Person who does. The staff here could not be more helpful and caring.. Advising him and catering for him.
The improvements are great though we do understand that not all are completed , some of the rooms have been updated and some are looking a bit tired ready for a coat of paint but they are clean, done everyday and fresh towels.
I am looking forward to our next 2 weeks here and know we shall be booking our return as soon as we get home.
