Stayed at the Sunset 30/11 for 2 weeks and having visited 5 hotels in Candolim this was the best. Room on the ground floor was dark and next time I will take a room without a balcony room 131 as very bright and airy and had a sea view and fantastic view of the sunset.

Paid for TV however the channels we could get was very poor, my sister had a different box (dish tv) and she picked up a fantastic selection of TV programs, if you are offered a Tata box don't waste your money.

Room basis but very clean, towels changed every other day and room cleaned to a high standard.

Breakfast is tea/coffee, toast and juice but for just over a £1 you can buy 2 poached eggs on toast which was yummy

Shame you have to use Thomas Cook to book this hotel as their rep has to be the most arrogant rep I have come across in over 35 years travelling. Book air conditioning with TC as cheaper than buying it at the hotel however make sure it is shown on your invoice as if it isn't TC will try to say you haven't booked it and ask you to pay again!!

Location of the hotel is fantastic very near 2 great restaurants The Bistro (next door and Sam's Grills and Curries (across the road), both excellent however I think Sam's is slightly better than the Bistro and a little cheaper. Friends bar and restaurant at the top of the road was a great place to watch the world go by and meet people.

We did Anjuna market by Boat with John's Boat Trips and it was a great trip 2 hours in the market and great boat trip there and back, saw lots of dolphins and even had a nice cold beer on the return trip. Great value for £8 each and a good half day trip with not too early start i.e. 8:30.

Candolim is a great place to stay and the walk to the beach is 5 mins from hotel.

Beach towels can be hired from hotel reception for 30p a day, great way to have a clean towel every day, and the bar staff are a credit to the hotel

Will def stay here again if the price is right as all the extras add up e.g. TV, A/C etc

Room Tip: If you don't mind not having a balcony room 131 on the top floor was a lovely refurbished room w...

We stayed at sunset beach 7-22 November 2013. This was our 3rd time there. Staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. We have ate in the bistro several times, very good and not too expensive. Candolim is a lovely village, the locals are so friendly, we have been going back there for 10years. Every time we go back the locals remember us. Lovely people. Would recommend it. L

we stayed here from the 24th nov to the 8 dec 2013 and really enjoyed our stay. the room was basic but spotless, it was cleaned daily and bedding was changed every 2nd day. only a couple of minutes walk to either the beach or the main street with taxi office across street and enough eating places around to eat somewhere different every meal for a fortnight. only ate breakfast there but that was lovely. all staff friendly and helpful.rooms are quirky shapes and most are double aspect with a balcony at both windows.

We've just returned today from our second visit to Candolim and The Sunset Beach hotel. Again we had an absolutely brilliant time in Candolim. There's so much to do here, so many fab restaurants, bars and shacks on the beach. Last year I put a really good review on Tripadvisor for this hotel. This year was again lovely, but we did feel standards had slipped slightly. When we booked we requested first floor room 117 again, however we were given a ground floor room 106. This was a much smaller room and we weren't happy being on the ground floor (having previously had a snake in a ground floor bathroom in Anjuna)! We asked to change rooms, they eventually agreed the following day but only after the manager said we had to pay an extra £194!! This is a lot of money out of anyone's spare cash in your holiday spending money! The staff here are lovely, HOWEVER this year we found that one of the two young ladies who cleaned the rooms (possibly the older of the two) spent much of her day spitting, and I really mean big vile spitting, particularly into the gardens of the houses next to the hotel! YUK!! It really was disgusting to see/hear, particularly as it happened for the whole 3 weeks we were there! She didn't even stop when she knew we were on our balcony watching what she was doing! I must say though, the younger of the two ladies was so very lovely and friendly. She also cleaned our room very well. I would still recommend this hotel as it's location is great, very close to the beach or the Main Street with bars, restaurants etc. The pool is quite shaded, although it's cold this is very welcome in the heat! We also again ate in The Bistro. The food was fine, but when our friend asked if she could have a cocktail she was told no! That was it, no other explanation! Just seemed a bit unprofessional really. Anyway, would I recommend this hotel again? Yes. But don't expect too much and just appreciate it's fab location in Candolim. If anyone wants any more info I'm willing to provide if it will help to make your decision on whether to stay here or not.

visited in November 2013 during Diwali. twin-bedded room with balcony on 1st floor overlooking pool was spacious and clean with good air con, ceiling fan, refrigerator, tv with multiple cable channels, updated bathroom. staff were pleasant and efficient. free coffee and toast in the morning. good location in candolim, with short walk to the beach and tons of restaurants and shopping nearby. decent restaurant on site. shop for snacks, beer and wine right next door. on the down side: no free water in the frig, bland decor, no english language news channels on the tv, frequent power outages, no wifi. but for the price, outstanding in most other respects.

Room Tip: we liked our room overlooking the pool, but pool hours were supposed to be 9-5 but on one occasion...
