“Beach Resort-value for money”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Our family stayed at Sonesta for 5 nights. We had asked for the pool facing room on the 1st floor and were given the same. The rooms are nice and spacious with a balcony.
Property is well maintained. Not a fancy place but all needs were taken care of.
Breakfast was awesome. It was different each day and well rotated. Eggs were made to order. The F& B Manager Ablert and his team including Marcelino are warm and attentive.
Ordered room service almost every day, food and service was quick and good
The location of the resort is the best. Few minutes walk leads you to clean and nice Candolim. beach. Jude, the guy by the pool does a great job with a smile always. Would like some music by the pool and resort activites added for kids. Some books to read, board games available at the resort will make the stay more enjoyable.
Bikes, cars and cabs are available for hire right outside the resort.
Next visit to Goa, we'll definitely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for pool facing rooms on the 1st floor.

Stayed here for 4 nights, Sonesta has everything you need but is certainly not a luxury resort property. The breakfast is great, rooms are simple and kept clean enough, beds are very very firm (just not to my liking) the power would shut down for a few minutes a few times each day, the Internet is pretty good available for the majority of the time. The staff in the restaurants are very friendly as is Jude the gentleman on pool duty during the day. In the room the laundry says it takes overnight and can be expressed back in one day if necessary but ours took 2 days to be returned and only after we went looking for it! Close to Candolim beach and the main road. I'd be happy to stay here again.

After a long search over the internet, we finalised this resort for our holiday. But, to our dismay, this turned out to be disastrous, to say the least.
a. We had categorically asked for a pool facing room during our booking, but when we reached, we were told that there were none available !! Even after intimating well in advance. Shocking !
b. After we checked in, wanted to have some water. When I poured the same from the water jug, it had worms ! This is the most yuckiest of experience one can have at the beginning of a holiday.
c. The rooms are shabby !
d. The food is overpriced. Had one meal and never had any meal after that ( except for breakfast )
Please avoid this utterly waste and useless resort with a bunch of useless staff ( except for the ocean deck manager, one Mr. Albert, who was really sweet and caring )

Very helpful staff, lovely pool. Clean, well appointed rooms. Good, reasonably priced food. We had a problem with the wifi in the rooms, and felt the management could have handled the situation in a better manner. Apart from that, a pleasant stay.

The rates for drinks & food are quite are quite similar to the rate at any resturant n bar in delhi.

Room servises are all ways available and they don't act like a robot...they are responsive..they understand what we want.

All rooms majorly provide best of comfort. this review would appear more like fake one but trust me...we were four people and loved it like anything. Better in terms away from commercial beaches. their own beach is clean and quite. sleeping in stars is like heaven on earth.

staff is courteous and helpful. place is so relaxing...damn...thank you sonesta...

We went in the off-season, in early September. Unfortunately, in the off-season, the only beach that has any bars/restaurants/life is Baga. Villa Goesa on Baga is about 200 Rupees/night cheaper, and it's a much nicer resort. Sonesta is a very good 2* or a very poor 3* depending on how you look at it. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. The hotel is fine, but the location means that it'll cost you 300 Rupees each way to go out, if you're there in off-season, as there is literally nothing on Candolim beach. It's completely dead in the off-season.

The hotel staff try to persuade you that all of Goa is empty during the off-season, but anyone who's been to Baga can tell you that's just not true. I've been before, but only to Baga, so I just assumed that there would be some quiet life to Candolim, but no, seriously, the place is dead.

Our main problem was not the extra 800 Rupees/day (200 for the Sonesta and 600 for the taxi to Baga and back, every day) it is the fact that on Baga, like any beach, the bars and restaurants are shacks, so the toilets are really awful, for the most part. For guys, that's not such a big deal, but for our wives, obviously, it is so much nicer to be able to pop back to your nice hotel to use the clean facilities rather than deal with a hole in the ground.

The Sonesta is not cheap enough to be considered a good deal, and in my honest opinion, you'd be 100x better off staying at Villa Goesa, or pretty much anywhere on Baga beach, off-season or otherwise.

(I'm not going to complain that they claim to have a gym and a spa, even though they don't. They don't tell you this until you reach there, but like I say, I'm not going to cry about that. I'm not even going to complain that they charged me for items in the mini-bar that were never there in the first place, I mean, it's a budget hotel and the staff are pleasant. It's maybe not such a well run place, but, for example, they only charge 30 for a bottle of water and 60 for a pot of masala chai, so even if they make up some extra charges, it's not expensive to begin with, so you can forgive them that much.)

Thankyou for your feed back,we will definitely improvise in the fields we are lacking in.
We have 2 wheelers available outside the resort on rent for just few rupees and that also for the full day so this can be a cheaper option incase any resident guests want to enjoy a crowded baga or calangute
