“Basic room, excellent staff :)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2014

Stayed in the Prazeres hotel for 2 weeks and found it to be a really nice hotel, the rooms are very basic but we only slept and showered there so it was fine, all the staff where extremely helpfull and friendly especially Oscar who works in the bar/restaurant, if you need anything or just for advise on places to go and things to see he's the best person to ask, the manager was very hospitable and was always giving us free drinks whenever we bumped into him :) :)
I like the location as its just off the main road so its not noisy. Oh yeah and if you want your room cleaned you need to leave your key at the reception desk.
All in all I would use this hotel again as its everything you need and the staff makes it so much more.

Dirty, unwelcoming, just money money money for any basic requirement. From arrival.. If you don't like the room upgrade. Shabby rundown dirty stained sheets towels broken and chipped dirty crockery for breakfast. Unhappy staff frightened by owner/ manager who hosts own private parties in the hotel bar to the inconvenience of guests. Loud music from 8pm to late. Scum line on pool you could write your name on. Approx 80% Russian guests. Did I mention the cockroaches in the rooms? Don't stay here.

We stayed in Prazeres for 2 weeks in March 2014. On arrival we were shown to our room and were instantly told if we do not like it we can see other rooms no problem. Great start in my opinion.
We booked a room without A/C but were offered an upgrade to a better looking room with A/C for £200 for the duration. Seeing as we hardly paid anything for the holiday in the first place we declined but having the option was nice.
I've seen reviews about noisey "holidaymakers" staying here, i must say we never once heard anyone being rowdy. Sometimes the bar goes on until quite late but people are on their holiday after all. To be honest it made a nice change. The other hotels i have stayed in in Candolim have been higher rated, more stars and a lot more expensive but when you return to them after a night out they are completely deserted, seeing people still up, drinking, chatting and laughing at 1am was welcomed by me.

Location.
A 5 minute walk from Prazeres to the main road in Candolim. Can be a bit dicey with the traffic to say the least but it was never really a problem, Indian roads are Indian roads and they aren't ever going to change.

Hotel.
Large hotel spread over a large area. The hotel is a bit scruffy and could do with a tidy up, it was never really a problem for us though. Lack of A/C in March was a mistake on our behalf, we were offered it but turned it down. The room was sooooo hot when we got back late on an evening, not much you can do about the weather though, it is what it is.
Our (well my OH's) only gripe was the severe lack of room cleaning. The first morning we were there the room boys turned up, we refused the service as we'd only just got there. We didn't see them again until 8 days later!! So all in all our room was cleaned once during our 2 week stay. I was constantly looking out for room boys so i could get clean towels and toilet roll, lol.
Again, nothing i would complain about too much but i know some people would.
The mattresses in our room were about 3" thick and rock solid, the pillows were about 1" thick and exactly the same. I could've complained and had them changed but i never did, just beware if that will bother you.
The bar was great, music playing, generally full all night every night. We never ate at the hotel but the prices were very good and the food we did see looked great.
The grounds were all in excellent condition and all the staff were smiling and pleasant.

Overall this is a great hotel for the budget traveller. If you want 5* then pay for it. If you're travelling on a budget (i saw this hotel with flights for 2 weeks at £376ea) then it's a great option.
For the money i paid i would definitely stay here again, at the price mentioned above it's just too cheap not too.

Room Tip: Make sure you look at a few rooms on arrival.

We spent the whole of February (4 wks) 2nd visit at this Hotel, whilst we were in a standard basic room, no AC, ceiling Fan only, we had no problems in coping with the heat, The room was very clean, as was the Wet /shower room also ,hot water on demand, via hot water cylinder, switch on and in 5 mins hot water. the only draw back was no hot water to sink basin, but used the plastic jug to shave in. Pool was great & cleaned daily, Bar/restaurant area we found no fault with this food and drinks at a reasonal price as comparable with all local Bars & Restaurants Room boys & other Staff was all very friendley, The only downside we found the continetal Breakfast need's a complete overhaul, ie inserficient, Cups, spoons, knives & plates, but if you purchased any items that needed cooking nothing was to much everything was there.
would we go back Yes we would !!!!

Room Tip: Luck of the draw so to speak

We stayed at Prazeres Resort for 3 Nights.(14th,15th,16th).We had good and bad experiences. The room particularly offered to us(GT-3) was quite okay.Furniture was very old.Clogged wash basin.Request for room change was not entertained. They were full probably
But I would say we got a good value for money.3000 per night for 4 people and they allowed us to check out very late.
I think Goa is not about rooms. Its about roaming around, beaches, street shopping and bars.

The Old guy in the reception at night is rude.
All the staff are very friendly.Pool is clean and good.

I would definitely come back to Prazeres provided we get their better rooms.

When we got to this hotel we were shown to a complete dump with only 2 beds for the 3 of us. We had to carry our own bags up 4 flights of stairs while 2 porters strolled ahead. After taking a look i went back and asked for an upgrade. The porter started a cloak and dagger routine, muttering about a special price just for me,and how i had to keep quiet about it.He asked for 1500rupees (£15) so i said ok. He mentioned that he would call early in the morning to move us. At 4am there was a knock on the door and we were moved in the middle of the night. Once we were in the (much nicer) new room he dropped the hammer. Now he wanted 1500 rupees A NIGHT!!. This came to £200!! I said no way and after threatening to move us back to the dump he managed to part me from£100. Unknown to me at the time this is their scam for gouging extra money out of tourists who have already paid by card through travel companies. Every english speaking people we met had had to fork out an average £75 a couple in cash to get an acceptable room,on top of what their holiday had allegedly cost them. Everything else was extra as well. lock boxes for valuables, wifi connections, room fridges, air conditioning, you name it they wanted more money for it.
That said the cleaning and bar staff were polite and helpful, the rooms were cleaned daily and after 12 pm it was fairly quiet.(bar shouty drunk russians occasionally).

Room Tip: buy a can of bug killer. Our bathroom had 2 inch cockroaches scuttling about in it and they scared t...

Have perused the review and would like to respond. Am sure the concerned guest was booked in to Prazeres Resort either with Cosmos or Spice Route. What the guests are not told is we have a contract signed with the above named Charters for Standard rooms only. The guest in his review has not mentioned whether the nicer room given to him was a one bed room apartment or studio apartment overlooking the pool. All these apartments and studios have an upgrade price payable locally as per the contract signed between us and the respective Charter operator.

Further as per contract signed withe charter operator safe deposit lockers and fridge in room is also payable locally. You will appreciate the fact that we have all traveled to various destinations in the world and I have personally paid for room upgrade and all other sundries like lockers , fridge and wi fi. Further as we all the know globally the check in time at all hotel is either 12 noon or 2 pm.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused and would like the guest to visit us again and would personally see that any doubts and misconceptions are cleared and will assure the guest of a wonderful holiday in Prazeres Resorts. God Bless..Raul Prazeres
