My hubby and I have just returned from the Marquis Beach and are already preparing our bag for new year 2007 (we would love to return new year 2006, but have a wedding in Thailand which must prevail).
It was our first Goa holiday and we were unsure of what to expect. On arriving at the Marquis (in the evening) we were greeted by friendly staff who could not have made our welcome more re-assuring. We were shown to our room (bags and all carried for us) and began to soak in the atmosphere straight away. We decided to eat at the hotel in order to become accostomed to our surroundings. The Head Waiter, Camel, could not have been more helpful in suggesting suitable eats for our first evening (actually advising against fish dishes after a long flight etc).
Our holiday just got better and better as the fortnight progressed.
The Marquis is a small resort (only 30 rooms) ideally situated within about 4 acres of beautiful palm tree lined gardens which include sun loungers and hammocks. Just the ticket for lazy days. A walk through these gardens leads to the most beautiful stretch of beach - not too quiet and not too busy. There is a cool pool, a breakfast shack and, what we called, the sunset shack which is raised just enough to see along the beach and to watch the wonderful sunsets (early, around 6pm).
The staff are wonderful. We were treated like king and queen.
We would definately recommend.
