“Best Holiday I've Had So Far!”

( stayed in March/April 2012) I travelled as a large family of 6, the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and part of the family. The location was perfect, 5 mins walk to the beach and 2mins into a row of fantastic restaurants and little shops, every day we would walk past the shops and greet everybody and we became good friends with the women on the beach.
I would defiantly stay here again.

Just back after three weeks at this hotel, we were there from 17 dec to 7 jan.
We had booked a superior room and this was nothing like a superior room, we have stayed in Premier Inns where the standard is far better. The furniture was very dark wood and the bedside lamps did not work as there was no socket to plug them in. Bedding was stained and the pillows left a lot to be desired. Just over a week into our holiday the owner decided to put on an after party for the Supersonic rave, this was five nights of rave music from 10pm till about 2am. Thomson's rep did not know anything about it. We were waiting for him at 8.30am after the first night and we managed to get a move to Angarra by Silversands which is just up the road from the main hotel so we were not bothered by the music, thank God for earplugs.
This room was also a so called superior room but it was a worse standard than the first room, stained bedding again and I had to buy bleach for the toilet which was heavily stained. I know hotels in

We stayed here for a month from 8th Dec 2013,til 5thJan 2014. the rooms are a good size and the beds comfortable, Our room boy, Dominic, could not have been more helpful. The room was cleaned every day, towels and bedding changed every other day, whatever we asked for e.g . extra pillows, towels etc, any fault in the room was dealt with immediately or very quickly indeed. I can't praise him highly enough! He even accompanied one of the guests to the hospital, as she had fallen and broke her wrist on the street outside.Reception staff were better than ok too. The complex has a restaurant at the entrance to it, and the waiters in there,"Chicago",, were ever so nice, pleasant and friendly. Best of them were Anil,Ajay, Vish and 2 others I didn't get the names of, but they'll know who they are,,,,The dogs barking in the early hours woke me a few times, but I think I got used to it and didn't notice it after a while. The only complaint I would have , is that the swimming pool, though always cold, was a whopping 5FT deep at the shallow end,and being 5 ft 2in, and a Non swimmer, I couldn't use it at all. My one MASSIVE disappointment from the whole holiday was the noise from the so called After Party of the Supersonic Music Party which was held just across the road from SSHV entrance and went on till 3 and 4 oclock in the morning! not only on 3 nights as the dreaded Afterburn Party used to be,after the Sunburn Festival,,, but was scheduled for 5 days (and nights) and then if that wasn't enough,, they actually had an extra night and ruined the New Year's Eve for everyone else!!!!

Room Tip: We had room G05,ground floor at the back overlooking the neighbouring yards, but was a lovely cool q...

We have stayed at both parts of this hotel complex. Both are decent hotels with very friendly staff.
the rooms are adequate and better than many.
The location is excellent 2 mins from the beach and close to shops, bars and restaurants.
good restaurants are a plenty but the best we had was a new one just opened near whispering palms hotel. Its called CURRY& GRILL and is run by Sam and his partner. The food is great , and not expensive.
the Angara also has a good restaurant a has 21Cocos. good watering hole is Teama on the corner

Room Tip: there are no ground floor rooms, but an upgrade is possible at a price

We stayed here over Christmas this year 14/12/13 - 29/12/13. when we checked in we were a bit miffed that the room overlooking the pool that we requested turned out to be a room at the back of the hotel with a balcony constantly in shade. The sheets and towels and fridge had to be changed as they were all dirty, as if the room had never been cleaned. *EVERY* night the local dogs started barking for an hour or two from roughly 4 or 5 a.m. which meant that we didn't get a single nights constant sleep - it got to the point where we would wake up in anticipation of the racket and when it started one of us had to go out and shoo the dogs or throw jugs of water at them!Having said all that the cleanliness complaints were dealt with promptly, but after 20 hours travelling I was almost at my limit. The dog issue was never really dealt with though......so beware.
The hotel is in a good spot for the beach and all local amenities, staff are good, restaurant has a decent menu and standard. We loved the area and managed to find accommodation a stones throw away for less than half the price and have already booked for next year.

Room Tip: We were advised to upgrade to a "Superior" room which was worth the extra few quid BUT the...

We stayed at this hotel from 17th Dec through to 31st Dec.
This is one of the better hotels we have stayed at in Goa or other parts of India for that.
We were in a Superior room so had a fridge, AC, Fan and TV - these were all great and well used. Bathroom had a walk in shower and the water was always hot. General décor could do with being brought into the 21st C but then the price would go up significantly.
We only had breakfast on one day in the two weeks and that was because we went to Panjim on a trip and grabbed a cup of tea - our choice!
We generally ate out every nite and would come back to the bar for a few drinks before going to bed. The waiters in the bar AJ and co were great and looked after us well.
Our cleaner Suni was a nice chap and would tend the room every day providing we left the key!
The Reception team were always welcoming and helpful at all times.

The reason I say don't go at Christmas is due to the new festival Supersonic taking place at Candolim this year with Sun Burn moving up to Vagator beach - therefore the whole of Candolim is total chaos with cars, tuktuks, buses, etc making it quite dangerous for walking around.

Couple this with the arrogant hotel owner deciding to have an after party every night starting at 10pm and going on until 2-3am. The water in the toilet would bounce as the bass was so great, the doors in the room would rattle, and things were falling off walls in some peoples room. Initially they and Thomsons were absolving themselves of any responsibilities or interest in the guests - the hotel owner said this happened every year but others who had stayed at the hotel in previous years including Thomsons denied this. Thomsons denied any knowledge and Michael the rep took a lot of unnecessary flack from people. In the end those leaving on 30/31st were given their rooms for a late book out, a free meal at the Sheetal restaurant over the road and a £50 voucher per person from Thomsons (this is still outstanding at this time).

Whilst we would consider going back to this hotel it definitely wouldn't be at Christmas!
